S-Clarke Posted 13 January, 2010 Share Posted 13 January, 2010 never seen him play tbf. he's one of those ''either love or hate'' players for exeter and he's not a regular for them by any means. i hope this is just a squad depth signing, would hate for this to be instead of ward. Smirking_Saint Posted 13 January, 2010 Share Posted 13 January, 2010 That'll do, some defensive backup wouldn't go amiss, plus if us and norwich were after him then i am sure the boy cdagj

Stattmeister Posted 13 January, 2010 Share Posted 13 January, 2010 So, if its on the Official Twitter Feed, but not the OS, isn't someone going to get slapped wrists there, given the rhetoric of not "official" until confirmed on the website? Marginally underwhelmed given the talk of Ward (who at 24 still has bags to offer in terms of experience, and indeed potential to develop). However, in Pardew we trust - I personally can't fault any of his dealings thus far.

saintray Posted 13 January, 2010 Share Posted 13 January, 2010 Jesus what is it with us saints fans! Put a downer on him already! In pardew we trust! Im actually quite excited with this, with fonte we know what to expect but i really dont have a clue what to except with seaborne, Sounds like good cover. Saint_Ash Posted 13 January, 2010 Share Posted 13 January, 2010 FFS people give him a chance! We now have a young solid defender on the books that probably cost pittance, we're looking at building a "Squad" that can cope with a sh1tload of fixtures till the end of the season. Beyond this season we won't see the likes of Perry/Jaidi/Thomas around for much longer. A decent squad signing and we haven't finished yet so why don't people stop whinging and give the lad a chance, also wait until the window has shut then we can analyse the transfer and whinge if need be! Gambol2K9 Posted 13 January, 2010 Share Posted 13 January, 2010 If Perry and/or Thomas are off then Seaborne will be a good replacement as a squad player. I'd be concerned if Pardew had him lined up as a first choice CB though. No idea how much we paid for him, but Pardew's signings have all been top notch so far, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt on this one! Miltonaggro Posted 13 January, 2010 Share Posted 13 January, 2010 At 22 and 6ft 3" he should be a very good addition to the squad, and solid back up for Jaidi, Fonte or indeed Harding. Good shout Pards...
hypochondriac Posted 13 January, 2010 Share Posted 13 January, 2010 No, but he's backup. Jaidi can't play every game, and Harding hasn't had a rest since the start of the season. I would have played Mills LB to give Harding a rest. I accept he could be backup for Jaidi I'm just a bit deflated that Ward is likely to not be signing now after thinking he was last night. Huntingdon Posted 13 January, 2010 Share Posted 13 January, 2010 Why are people disappointed? AP is trying to put a strong squad together & Seaborne is highly rated He's a better option than Lancashire, and can play left-back, so is probably better than Mills or Molyneaux too

S-Clarke Posted 13 January, 2010 Share Posted 13 January, 2010 ''The player himself has already set his sights on a regular place in the Saints team on completion of his move.'' to me, that line suggests he's been told he isn't a ''certain starter'' and has been brought in to add depth, but will be given the oppertunity to prove himself... i really hope this wasn't instead of ward... CWD Posted 13 January, 2010 Share Posted 13 January, 2010 I really dont understand people's negative response to this.... If reports are to be believed then Leicester, Notts Forest and Norwich were all after him (to name a few), he is 22, built like a the proverbial brick house and highly rated by Exeter fans. He will learn from Perry and Jaidi and grow into a top PL CB, or at least i assume that is the aim. Welcome Dan, I for one am happy to have you here. Dont be put off by the less than warm welcome from the minority
Clifford Nelson Posted 13 January, 2010 Share Posted 13 January, 2010 Seaborne has not been signed as cover. He has got the expectations to play regularly acc to OS. Replacing who? Is Jaidi badly injured and unlikely to return?

I think YOU'RE disappointed that we seem to have missed out on Ward. I think the rest of us are putting our faith in a management team that have done very well so far, and are hopefully not basing their opinion on whether he played well or not against us
Andy_Porter Posted 13 January, 2010 Share Posted 13 January, 2010 He was terrible when he played down here. Ill trust your judgement on that, I can't really remember any individual Exeter performances. Apparently it's 275k upfront 100k if we're promoted in the next 3 years and 100k after 20 games. That's lifted from an Exeter forum, from some poster who called the transfer a few days ago the general consensus is that he's a decent player but replaceable for that money. Sounds like a Jaidi type who'd rather just get rid of the ball than try and pass to feet.

Smirking_Saint Posted 13 January, 2010 Share Posted 13 January, 2010 There is probably no chance of ward now, i would imagine this deal was rushed through as the something happened with the Ward deal. I would love to see Ward here still mind but obviously this boy is one for the future, he may have had an off day against us but lets just see how he does shall we ?? More concerning is that i think DS was one of pardews two remaining transfers, i hope not !!!!!!

S-Clarke Posted 13 January, 2010 Share Posted 13 January, 2010 Sounds like a Jaidi type who'd rather just get rid of the ball than try and pass to feet. yeah that's what kind of suggests he's cover for Jaidi more than anything, as pard's has been trying to get away from us hoofing it at the back, i can't imagine he'll go straight into the team to increase that! CWD Posted 13 January, 2010 Share Posted 13 January, 2010 OK so say we have missed out on Ward, surely its better to sign someone than nobody at all? it just shows me that the management are not just looking at one player and putting all our eggs in one basket.
