forever a red and white Posted 16 January, 2010 Share Posted 16 January, 2010 can;t be bothered to trounce through a million pages on the millwall thread but the facts are; milwall were better than use today. They denied us of any time and space on the ball stifled our play, got in our faces and defended very well. They were well worth their point and their home form has been very good. Even the mighty Leeds lost there so there should be no complaints about today. Along with 3 new defenders and Holmes for first time in ages it was like having four new players in the team so wasn;t going to gel immediatly. If nothing else the players would have learnt from todays experience. Millwall lacked creativity and class but were hard working, well orgnaised and had done their homework. Despite the nature of the draw we were lucky to get a draw and should be happy with a point.
alpine_saint Posted 16 January, 2010 Share Posted 16 January, 2010 Not everyone on here of course - but that post match thread is quite remarkable. What a load of b*ll*cks. AP upped the ante on this game during the week by publicly declaring it a "must-win" game. I think it a bit of a cheek to criticise some contributors therefore, for complaining that manager and team made such a hash of it.
Dig Dig Posted 16 January, 2010 Share Posted 16 January, 2010 Not everyone on here of course - but that post match thread is quite remarkable. I agree. We played away at a very difficult place to get a result. Why do people expect for us to go to these places and play every team off the park? We are by no means that good so I don't understand why the expectations are so high. As long as we can start to dominate at home I will mostly always be happy with a point away from home and would have taken that result before hand. Just because we have chucked some money at the team doesn't mean that it will bring instant success and anyone who is now calling for AP to go now after 6 months, after starting at -10 points and after getting us far in JPT and FA cup need to get a grip on reality

SFC Forever Posted 16 January, 2010 Share Posted 16 January, 2010 I am a season ticket holder as is my 11 yo daughter. Next season maybe my 6 yo son as well most likely. That said we have only seen 2 away games. That makes me a gutless, spineless and pathetic poster does it. Wake up you cretins. Just because some can afford to go to every game doesn't make you supermen. Just lucky or not depending on how we are playing. I am not blind and think AP has cost us points at times. That said I am not asking for his head on a plate. Instead I am asking him to back his judgement a little bit more. His words were that we needed to win. Not anybody elses. So get off your sanctimonious arses and think about what you have watched this season or even today. It was not today, a performance threatening Millwall a lot of danger. Not my words but those of some who went. We will do well to finish 8th in my book. Any better is a bonus. But next season we will be ready to rumble. All we need is someone at the helm with enough confidence in our team to produce the results. After the close season with another two or three signings I can see us tearing teams apart. Is it possible for anybody to post on a thread without getting slagged off if we win every game? No because some sad asses have to abuse others or don't feel manly. The team we had prior to kicking off the season was the worst in the clubs history. A team that had taken us to division three. Add to that even the best players of the **** team had left. Obviously players were going to come in but nobody expected the signings to do as well as they had. Most of them had probably never even been seen playing before they joined us. Not until you see them play can you make any judgement on where we could end up. Without those players coming in and doing as well as they have we would not be anywhere near where we are now. I have no doubt at all if that team on the 1st day were still playing we would still be in the bottom 4.

CanadaSaint Posted 17 January, 2010 Share Posted 17 January, 2010 If you didn't go to the game your opinion means nothing. I don't agree with you on this. Although I sadly don't get to go very often, every time I do I'm truly stunned at some of the comments I hear. These are people who watch every home game and yet they don't have a clue. They see the outcome but never the origin and they jump to conclusions about players or incidents that, frankly, are laughable. Those are the ones who were all over Kenwyne and Kelvin and others, calling them hopeless crap, but they've conveniently forgotten that now. So their opinion is valid and mine is not because they go every week and I don't? of course you will have a reaction/opinion on the result, team selection and what you hear - don't see how you can pick out flaws in formation or players performance at all without seeing it tho Fair comment, and it surprises me to hear some of the strident views expressed on the game or post-game threads because people couldn't possibly reach those opinions if they weren't there. However, having said that I've seen - say - Lallana and James half a dozen times or more, and I have a pretty good idea of their overall strengths and weaknesses. A feeling of helplessness perhaps? Absolutely true. I travelled back from Singapore to watch Van Horseface relegate us from the Premiership. It cost me an arm and a leg, we lost, and we went down. But at least I was there. And we had a few beers at The Eagle afterwards and then a curry at Kutis and somehow it all seemed survivable. If I'd have stayed in Singapore I'd have cried like a baby and been arrested for spitting on the streets.
CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 17 January, 2010 Share Posted 17 January, 2010 Not everyone on here of course - but that post match thread is quite remarkable. My advice to you is that if you elect to read a thread entitled 'Post Match Reactions' then you better be prepared to see some post match reactions - it does exactly what it says on the tin . It seems perfectly understandable to me that fans are annoyed at seeing their (rather expensive it must be said) team drop two crucial points with virtually the last kick of the game - perhaps you were expecting some kind of wild celebration . The big picture is not what fans on here happen to think it's the depressing observation that our team hasn't put in a really good performance in ..... what is it getting on for two months now ? And must win it was, but who the fook are we to EXPECT to go up this season? we started off on -10 points, then we didn't gel as a unit until well into the season, its ridiculous to expect instant gratification ffs. This reminds me of when we dropped into the CCC and all the 'We are too good for this league' bollix started. tisspahars Posted 17 January, 2010 Author Share Posted 17 January, 2010 To clarify for some....I was disappointed with the performance yesterday, and even more disappointed not to close out the game having taken such a late lead, however, some of the reaction on here was ridiculous. If we had a setback on the pitch (a poor decision go against us for example) and one of our players reacted by throwing a punch and getting sent off he would be lambasted for being so unprofessional. To me (although before someone points it out we are clearly not professionals) it is the same for fans. Yesterday was disappointing but lashing out and declaring us useless, in need of a complete overhaul etc is just a childish reaction - in my opinion of course. Yes all our games now are "must win games" if we are to make the playoffs but lets not forget the opposition, its too easy for some on here when it doesnt go right to point at the team and AP, but Millwall are no mugs in this division and were, up until yesterday, the only team to have beaten Leeds. Legod Third Coming Posted 17 January, 2010 Share Posted 17 January, 2010 The point is surely that the manager has still had only 20 odd games, is still building his squad, and that we are a work in progress targeting the play-offs from a minus 10 start.
