The Bridge Pub

Also just a warning for some of you that gather at the bridge, whilst on route to the bridge after the match last night i was walking through the car park behind the toll bridge office and what i saw was what seemed to be a small gathering of thug like skates in cars that looked to be pointing at the pub and looked like they were up to no good.

so beware

not at all. there were some people looking well shifty in the car park kinda scanning the area and just looking very dodgy, so i kinda put to and 2 together, so just watch your selfs.

i dont know about you but i could be sat on a beach in australia and spot a skate from a mile away

12 fingers on each hand, drool emanating from their mouths and fish wrapped around their ****s is a bit of a giveaway btf. ;-)

Was thinking last night that Itchen bridge would be a good place for the skates aggro to have a go, if they came out of woolston station. Does make you think.

Wouldn't have thought the police would let them off the train at Woolston. They tried something similar a few years ago, attempting to get off at St Denys. That didn't work either.

Where was that Kip? The Bridge?
Nah the Kingsland Tavern, I guess I should of expected it, the place is rough as hell, funny thing was after this happened we popped over to the Plume and we bumped into some blokes we know, they are probably a bit nawtier than us and they went straight in there and asked if there was any Pompey in there, obviously no-one said yes but 5 minutes later the aggro bloke left the pub and saw us chatting outsde the Plume with a few blokes and he put his head down and walked briskly off and then began to jog after he'd crossed the road. So therefore I helped in making someone jog on, proper ard me.

I was at a meeting in Southampton yesterday with a security firm.A rep from the security firm did mention that the "Pompey Boys" are coming into town for Saturday Night.Their plan is to get mobbed up in Woolston and come over later. They had been tipped off by the old bill i am not sure about it but it does tie in with what MLT has posted.

Be careful out there folks. When I was in M&S at Hedge End today I'm pretty sure there was a skate at one of the checkouts that had a Pompey shirt on under his big puffy jacket. Couldn't be sure but he walked funny and talked funny. Think it might have been just one - but he might have had mates too in the close vicinity.

I seriously am gutted about Saturday, I live down here, so I can't really drive up on the day as I'll be considered a skate and could full well be trying to 'infultrate' Saints...

So thinking I will stay at my sisters, get a taxi to game and then back, have no one to go with and no one to drink with....

I feel like John Terry would at Wayne Bridge's birthday bash

No, no, no. He means using a periscope to look out to sea, under the water. It's so obvious.

the skates were at home last night aswell,so surely they would be checking out their own manor instead of ours!!

Actually, maybe they were all at The Bridge ... how else could you explain why they only had 16000 for a crucial home game (and that includes prob about 1500 Red and white striped Sunderland fans, or maybe they were all Saints fans who couldn't get JPT tickets checking out FP in case of a replay :p)

They aren't going to close the borders of Southampton and set up checkpoints. Lots of Saints fans live to the East of Southampton. It's more of a problem when we play at Fratton, and the police try to force you onto a train to Southampton even though you live in Southsea.......

They had a wagon outside woolston last time we played, there was a bit of a kick off at Sholing though with some skates getting off there.

No idea if they were skates or not, but there was a meat wagon in the driveway to St Patricks church opposite the Bridge after the game. Unusual in recent time and I never recall one being there before when we had 30k+ gates.

Anyone coming on the trains is IMO not looking for trouble. They're well policed and there'll be spotters on them anyway. Skates wanting to kick off will probably arrive in cars being dropped off in Woolston, St Denys, Bevois Valley, Bitterne etc before joining up IMHO.

Rest easy people, they weren't skates. If they were, they wouldn't have been in cars but in vardo's. And i bet they were only pointing at the pub to see if it needed it's fascias and soffits replacing.

It's good to be cautious though, serious business this pointing at pubs and looking shifty.

I'm not saying the location but have it on good authority that some of shall we say older gentlemen will be gathering at a location in town and then all heading off to the match many moons ago the same bunch were scaring off anyone who dared to come near them .....

I went into the Plume after the match. What the hell was that thing in the blue and white shirt at the bar? Is he the gobby skate you were on about because he spent the whole time he was in there talking about 'shanking' people etc. He had the smallest vocabulary I have heard from a person over 18 months of age. And a fouler one as well. Complete scum.

Serious question guys:

I’m taking 3 kids to this match & would preferably like to get them home intact (it’s valentines day on Sunday & damaged kids won’t do me any favours at all ;)).

In our prem days I always parked in Woolston and was considering parking their again for this match, however, I remember when we played the skates before, a load of their mob got off the train there, fortunately the nipper & I had got on the bus and got out of the way quickly, and after reading through this thread, it looks likely that there may be trouble in that part of town on Saturday.

We now park in Centurion Estate but I wanted to avoid going in that direction as the skate fans busses will need to be passed on the way back after the match, not a prospect I am really looking forward to.

What are your opinions as to the safest place to park should I go for Woolston & risk getting caught in a riot, or park in Centurion and …. Er…..risk getting caught in a riot? :(

As VFTT says Woolston will be fine, I've got no choice but to walk from there as that's where I live! Never been any major problems when we've played the Skates before. Can't see why that would change now.

Right dont this as gospel as I have just heard it but will check with a friend who is a police officer. Someone at work has said that the police are getting Pompey off the train at Woolston and then walking them over the bridge to avoid walking them through town! To me this is utter madness. Looking at google earth, there is nothing in it milage wise as both are approx 1.25 miles. So will let you know

Well, it does avoid all the pubs in town, possibly hence why they're allowed to open? Stranger things have happened.

The Woolston defence league will be notified forthwith ;-)

I've just heard from someone who should be ITK on such matters that no-one will be getting off of any trains in Woolston on Saturday..

I guess none of us will know for sure till the day
