SuperSAINT Posted 27 February, 2010 Share Posted 27 February, 2010 I'd like to see a stat of how many wins we have with both Morgan & Hammond playing in central midfield. We always seem to struggle without them.

Arizona Posted 27 February, 2010 Share Posted 27 February, 2010 We missed Morgan in midweek, but he was a very small part of turn around in fortune IMO. We play better with him in the side, but I don't think he'd have made much difference at WW. That pitch was appaling and we just never got to grips with it. I'm not making excuses for the team, but that's what happened. Good performance today, but he wouldn't even be in my top 5 players. We were than good. S-Clarke Posted 27 February, 2010 Share Posted 27 February, 2010 He has huge potential, but needs to work on his consistency. tbf alps, the last few games I've seen from him have all been at a similar level. He's added certain aspects to his game this year (much more physical for a start). He's tackling is improving and he's always harrying players, anticipating a stray pass or a mistake...and then he's onto it.

Smirking_Saint Posted 27 February, 2010 Share Posted 27 February, 2010 TBH alpine it is not his consistancy but the consitancy of us playing football on the ground. He simply does not operate as a player that is negated by a long hoof up the pitch, he is a very intelligent football playing midfielder who this year has begun to add a steely side to his game. He is a player that needs the ball. Our best young asset IMHO
Thorpe-le-Saint Posted 27 February, 2010 Share Posted 27 February, 2010 Schneiderlin is class. Anyone that disagrees is simply wrong! +1, it amazes me the amount of people who think he is over rated. His vision is, as you say, class!
Ewell Posted 27 February, 2010 Share Posted 27 February, 2010 He is a decent player especially at this level but a big fat 0 goals from midfield says he is not exactly the finished article or a complete player. He does still have improvement in him though!
John Smith Posted 27 February, 2010 Share Posted 27 February, 2010 Spiderman was my man of the match today, Barnard a close second. But, he did the simple stuff well, tidied up in the midfield and kept the movement going forward at all times, he made us tick, quality. He needs to keep this up, show consitency at the level he made today and he will be a great player, but is definately showing signs of getting there. He does still have improvement in him though! He sits deep and dictates the play, he is not a box to box type midfielder. Am i worried about his goal scoring rate ?? No, thats not his job, he brings so much else to the team.
niceandfriendly Posted 27 February, 2010 Share Posted 27 February, 2010 Agree with above. He's not there to score goals, but it would be great if he did. Morgan was a class above the rest today, yet again.

Give it to Ron Posted 27 February, 2010 Share Posted 27 February, 2010 My MOM but thought Puncheon ran him a close second. His vision and passing were superb and hardly misplaced a pass. What I also like about Morgan now he battles and gets stuck in the tackle and doesnt powder puff his way out like he used to.

What I also like about Morgan now he battles and gets stuck in the tackle and doesnt powder puff his way out like he used to. I like the way Puncheon swaps sides with Adam and loves to cut in and take players on, but Morgan does the dirty job really well, breaking up play and distributing the ball really well. Again a couple of sublime cross field balls.

IamLeGod Posted 27 February, 2010 Share Posted 27 February, 2010 Fonte and Davis dont score many either? It's not their job, neither is it Morgan's. I really believe he is our Alonso, not massively spectacular but take him out and you do notice. Already a good player and has potential to be class. Chez Posted 27 February, 2010 Share Posted 27 February, 2010 I said it earlier in the week, but I'll repeat it, we don't always play well with him in the side, but our worst displays tend to be when he does not play. I think this generalisation is far more important than the `we win more games with Wotton in the side' that was banded about a few months ago. I thought he was decent again today, hard to pick many that weren't though.
CWD Posted 27 February, 2010 Share Posted 27 February, 2010 Schniederlin, Connolly and Fonte are, imo, the best technical players at the club. They all read the game as a PL player
Andy_Porter Posted 27 February, 2010 Share Posted 27 February, 2010 Schneiderlin was brilliant today as usual. He's vital to how we play, I've never been able to understand people who seem to think Hammond is the better player. Time and time again Schneiderlin is doing everything in the middle and pulling the strings. Need to keep hold of him, Lallana and Fonte for next season just vital to our team and style of play. All the lack of consistency, he goes missing, doesn't take games by the scruff of the neck etc posts are rubbish he was like that last season but he's developed loads since then. A class above any of our other central midfielders.

Think you could possibly add Lallana to that list. After today's performance, you might be able to throw Puncheon's name into the hat too, but need to see more of him. Great home debut mind! derry Posted 27 February, 2010 Share Posted 27 February, 2010 If Schneiderlin has players out wide he will show his class, if we tuck the wide men in it cramps him up so he has no options and he looks hopeless.

CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 27 February, 2010 Share Posted 27 February, 2010 He's almost unrecognizable from the promising but rather lightweight player who lost his place to a semi-fit Simon Gillett last season . It's in the nature of being a lower league football fan that you waste time worrying that some bigger club is going to come along and sign your best players - but I honestly think Morgan (and Adam Lallana) are not very far away from reaching Premier League standard . NickG Posted 27 February, 2010 Author Share Posted 27 February, 2010 Remember he was 18 years old and just moved to new country and thrown into a club in turmoil with team lacking confidence and playing central midfield - still thuoght he looked pretty good! Wenger said that he doesn't expect players signed from overseas to settle for 12 months.
