lallana and Puncheon will become indepesible and be outstanding

Lambert will only score 29 goals in the league and posters will think all season he is not happy and want to leave and hasn't got it anymore, is over the hill etc

We will lose at least one game after which fans will slate pardew for being tatically inept and on his way out

we will go at least two games without winning, after which fans will slate pardew for being tactially inept and on his way out

Dickson will not be the new Roberto carlos and posters will say harding was better

Posters will slate a 2-1 home win against Hartlepool (or similar) as unacceptable and we should win these game at least 10-0

Anymore?

as a saints fan since 1966 lets just say im hopeful of a top spot and certainly not confident.there are many teams in this league who see us as the scalp they want.it will be long and hard,do not disrespect the opposition,it may just come back to bite us where it hurts.lets enjoy the season and fingers crossed, promotion at the end.coys

OP seems pretty accurate, certainly if at any stage we aren't in the top two, be it after 1 game or 45, AP and the team will certainly take some stick. If we aren't in the top two after 46 games, it must be regarded as a big underachievement, what with the players and resources at our disposal

I think we will retain the JPT & win the league or at least automatic promotion. We will have a bad spell at some stage in the season which will probably coincide with us meeting p*mpey or manure in the league/fa cup. Cortese will say something like "recent results are a concern" when we slip temporarily out of the top 2 and the world will think Pardew is getting the sack... he wont

If we take away our 10 points deduction and first 10 games off last season and base it on the final 28 games we would of been promoted last year. We had a good team last year but there was still a lot of gash in there too. A lot of those have now moved on. We are adding better players to the squad now. We need a few more to act as cover. If we get those in then i expect a top 2 finish. No excuses. We have to get auto promoted next season. I predict we will win the league!

I hope we put out a z team in the JPT and Carling cup. The cups are nice and going to Wembley was a great day out but the league is priority this year. Having other things can lead to distractions!

Young understudies being on the end of a shock defeat at the hands of some no hopers certainly doesn't do much for their confidence or hopes of progress.

Redkrap did that (Mansfield and even more worringly Man U FFS) amongst others and also used it as an excuse not to play up and coming youngsters later with a "see i told you they weren't as good as you thought" retort.

I, like AP beleive winning every game is better than resting everybody and losing. Of course a couple of players can be rested if carrying injuries, but not the whole squad.

We are the big scalp, The Billy Big ****** of the league that the likes of Bomo, Hartlepool, Rochdale and Dagenham and Redbridge will be looking to cut down to size. Games against us will be their Cup Final.

The pressure on us as clear favourites will be immense and this board will go into meltdown everytime we fail to win at a canter.

Hammond will become the new Wotton/Jermaine Wright/generic scapegoat.

There is always a position in a team that is the weakest player, even if that team is Real Madrid or Man United. There is always room for improvement.

FWIW, looking at the team now i'd say the "weak link" would indeed be Hammond, or possibly Jaidi. But that is really scraping around for something to improve.

Think we'll do a Leeds tbh and drift away towards the end of the season.

We'll lead from the start until about February/March then Sheff Wed or Huddersfield will overtake us and we will finish second. I only think this because I don't think we'll be able to cope with the pressure of maintaining performance after performance.

I'd love to be proved wrong though... whatever happens, promotion please!!

We will fall behind to an early goal at some norven hovel and an overseas based saint will go into meltdown and despite going on to win the game, said mental case will use it as evidence of Saints clear failure.

We will also lose a game by a single goal despite battering the opposition. An overseas based saint will go into meltdown and said mental case will use it as evidence of Saints clear failure to heed his warnings and buy Torres.

I think we will do well but other teams and fans will want us to fail.

If we have the rub of the green and not too many injuries we should do really well.

But if for any reason we have a bad spell we should remain confident

Although I think it would be absolutely to stupid to sack Pardew during the season I feel that any reasonable manager should achieve promotion with players we currently have and the support of the fans

I really do think we will win the league there are no excuses we have the team we have the manager we have no points deduction we have the belief it has to be our time.

I think we will sign another 3 or 4 players before the end of the month which will give us the depth we need in the squad in Pards I trust.

I am not expecting it to be a cake walk and in the bag by March but I do think we will win the league we have the best team we now have a winning mentality I can't wait for the season to start.

I will drop my hot dog on the floor having just purchased it, during the first game against Plymouth at SMS, as I did last season - and it will become a seasonal tradition of mine.

Cortese will start charging fans for using the air inside SMS during games.

We'll draw Chelsea in the FA Cup 3rd round, beat them 2-0, after the game Terry speaks up and say "I'd rather be playing for Southampton, at least they're going places".

Flybe get annoyed with their sponsorship ending that they start flying their planes just 10 metres above SMS during games.

Every team that comes to st Mary's will play for a draw resulting in loads of dire matches at home where the opposition puts 10 men behind the ball and a lone striker up front to try and nick a goal and the 3pts at the death. It will be like the Oldham match every week.

We will lose to Bournemouth. All their fans will start saying how they are better and Eddie Howe will say 'its good to get a win against your biggest rivals'. Then we'll have 17 threads on how they aren't our rivals and how much we hate them and their poxy little club, proving that they are our rivals.

This is a big worry to be honest and why we need players such as Papa and Antonio who can do the unexpected/unorthodox to unhinge opposition defences.
