Orient - Must win

I thought today's results went quite well for us:

- Plymouth Drew

- Swindon Drew

- Huddersfield Drew at home

- Sheff Weds Drew

- Peterbourough lost 5-1

All the supposed contenders, excluding Charlton last night, dropped points.

yes..today was pretty good..

I would not worry about plymouth this year..they were utterly dreadful in the week and scored a 90th min equaliser today...they are terrible

They were utterly dreadful at st Mary's too one attack in a whole game (shame they ****ing scored from it). Thing is the legaue is a marthon not a sprint as long as we are within the top four at christmas we will be in with a good shout of winning. Having said that next saturday is going to be emotional, nothing against Orient but I hope we smash them as a fitting farewell to ML.

That makes us seem REALLY bad then...

I get the feeling we'll beat Orient handsomely. No disrespect to Orient, but the whole club, not just the players but the manager, NC, backroom staff and fans will all be up for this one. Whatever happens, I'll be cheering my head off.

We may be SIX whole points behind already but at this stage last year we were 15 behind. Look on the bright side, we are only FOUR points away from the play-off's with a game in hand and we have FORTY-FIVE games left to make up the difference. Remember too that we still have to play most of those ahead of us twice so there is ample opportunity to close that gap. I would not worry too much yet if I were you. There is still all to play for, our destiny is in our own hands and it is a game of two halves so no need to be sick as a parrot just yet.

Must win????

Oh FFS, this is a ferkin league FFS: every team plays 46 games and at the end of it they add up all the points and the top two go up, the next four play pitty pat to see who goes up.

It os NOT who ets 3 points in game two who goes up.

Jeez, this forum needs a few nannies and some experts in animal husbandry. Is this the way you are meant to spend your saturday nght?

It is NOT who is in the top two after two games who goes up.

Get a farken grip you WUM, its only "must win" when its "must win"

last season we were playing catch up..I dont want us to be 6 or even 9 points behind already...

every game is a must win...including the 1st

after 3 games last season, Norwich winners with 95 points had 1 point. I know they changed their manager but shows there is loads to go.

we got about 2 points per game last season - we would have 44 games left, so could still be looking at 88 points - more than leeds went up with.

will increase pressure but we would not be adrift.

Ho Ho Ho, the gobby Posh fan at work is gonna get some ****.

I was working behind a pub garden in Bournemouth today, not only did I have to watch the Posh razzing it up from 9am, I had to listen to em' singin "And it's aaaaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllllllll Boro, All Peterborough FC..." non ruddy stop and they were winding me right up. Glad they had a wasted journey!

if you want to talk about norwich..they also changed manager...should we follow their example there..?

I think you may find with the events of the last week the mind set of the players will be every game is a must win for Marcus and IMO I can't see that many teams beating us this season now.

I would hope that our players are motivated as they could be and have a must win mind set, every game. Nothing to do with events this last week.

I'm sure I was told last season's poor start was the main reason we did not reach the play-offs.

And being 10 points behind everyone else at the start of the 46 games.

Personally, I think TDD has a bit of a point. If we dont pull our socks up in the next couple of games, we will be as far behind as last season with less games to play to pull it back in.

Thank god someone has highlighted the need for a win because I know for a fact that the attitude in the camp is one of "we don't really care whether we win or not" because we get paid whatever.

The thrill of winning a game in front of your own fans is no different to losing so why bother to go out to win thru may as well take the easy option.

They have a target of winning the league but losing at home to a lower level team won't affect this so whatever!!

TDD for team motivator please......the professional sportsmen need him now....

that and starting on minus points, if after 7 games we are 24 points behind the promotion position like last season, then I think we will miss out again.

and if they gave us those 10 points back..we would have finished something like 5th....5th this season is not good enough..sorry

So what will your reprisals be if Saints finish 5th - as it isn't good enough for you?

Do tell.

Fifth would be abject failure. We'd have the play offs to redeem but fifth would still be failure, not least for Nicola. Try your 'do tell' routine on him, sunshine.

It's not a "must win" .

Those games come near the end of the season if we are playing for promotion etc..

We should win , a nice rest and the team back to full strength will hopefully see us win by 2 or 3 goals if not more.

Bit early for a prediction I know but I'm going for 3-0 :

Lambert x 2 and Connolly off the bench.

If you ever doubted that dulldays was a troll, here's your proof.

must win games in August. PMSL.

If we lose next weekend and Charlton win we'll be 8 points behind them. If that happens when do the must win games start?

FWIW I think we'll win next sat but I also think every game is must win.

The Delldays is pointing out the obvious not trolling.

Exactly my point. Put those points deducted back on to last season's total and we would, indeed, have finished 5th and would have been going into the play offs (as the form team and maybe favourites!).

We would have only been 3 points, and with better goal difference, behind Leeds.

BUT that was waiting until the 8th game for the first win - totally proves that even if we have to wait until the 3rd game for a win rather than Orient, automatic promotion is clearly achievable.

As we would only have been one win short last season - maybe, if we haven't won by then, our 7th game is the must win one! ;)

Will be surprised and disappointed if we don't win though, but to say it is a must win is just silly.
