Your likely starting XI on Saturday

Will be interesting to see what, if any, changes Adkins makes after his first full week of training. Puncheon was replaced on Saturday with Holmes who did well and Dickson also impressed.

17 year old Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is one to watch, been our most consistent player over the past few games and has blistering pace down the right wing.

I think we'll be likely to see:

                       Davis

 Butterfield Fonte Seaborne Harding

 AOC Schneiderlin Hammond Holmes

                Lambert Barnard

I think we might see Holmes come in for Puncheon who really has been poor this season, Adkins seemed pleased with him when he came on. Maybe Dickson in for Harding for the same reasons. If Martin is fit he'll probably come in for Seabourne at centre back. It'll be interesting saturday as both sides need a result, although to be honest, just a goal would do at the moment.

I think that Adkins is trying all the players to see what they are like whilst playing a real game, not what they are like in training, so I wouldnt be surprised to see him change Davis at some time.

why? It was Davis who stopped us from losing on saturday, Adkins said as much in his post match interview, you dont drop a keeper after they have saved you a point and kept a clean sheet.

You'd play Wotton ahead of Hammond?

I would Rich. I would play him deep & let Morgan roam a bit. I think we need a change & some of them a kick up the back side.

As for Kelv, I think he has had a poor season & just because he kept a clean sheet in his last game does not make up for the 6 plus goals he conceded in his previous games. Maybe it was lunacy keeping him in goal after that??

Two changes from the starting XI v Colch hopefully. Holmes for puncheon and with any luck a loanee CM for Hammond.

Ideally a loanee striker for the bench too as all 3 strikers are not 100% for different reasons!!

Probably a really good time to play at Hillsboro too

It is definitely a good time to be playing us. An early goal for you, or a poor start from us and the fans will be on Irvine's back. Some of the morons in our support obviously can't figure out where the problems in our club are coming from. We're not playing well, confidence is low, and the off field shenanigans are clearly affecting the players.

As someone else pointed out the above has a familiar ring to it.

I had felt quietly confident until reading you had lost three on the trot. I can assure you that from my 40 years of following Saints you could not wish for more obliging opponents than Saints when you're on a run of defeats,or have not scored for 9months or whatever.

Strange how they went with a headline of Fitness Boost, when in reality, all we learned was that Adam Lallana and Aaron Martin are still both injured, but in addition, we learned Barnard and Connolly are both now injured. How is that 'boosting'? That's the same news plus bad news. There's absolutely no good news there.

It will be an interesting game Tartan 2 sides low on cinfidence and badly needing a win I think we need it more than you and we were a little better saturday could be 1 of those games were 1st goal wins it.

I hope you do come all out for the win god knows we have struggled when we have to make all the play and break teams down Lallana is a massive miss for us and several of our players are still way off the pace have you got anybody out that you will miss ?

I hope Holmes plays instead of Punch and anybody plays instead of Hammond but we are short of options in centre midfield. I always thought the games between us would be tight and important but I thought we would both be at the top fighting for the championship how wrong was I ?

We have massively underperformed so far 3rd bottom WTF however we havent had much luck in front of goal so far when we do someone is going to get a hidding I dont think it will be Saturday though I am thinking a draw or 1 0 could go either way.

Are you saying he was responsible for any of those 6 goals?!:?

That is what Cotterill is saying about Poopey (assuming you mean a hiding - not a hidding;)) and he is clutching at straws too. I don't buy it myself. Apart from possibly Orient we haven't been unlucky in front of goal, we have been toothless.

Mental to even consider that Wednesday will not got for the win at Hillsborough.

Exactly. We were unlucky against Orient but we never looked like scoring on saturday or against MKDs. We have lacked ideas and creativity going forward this season.

Messi's injured unfortunately so probably wouldn't get through a medical.

Anyone suggesting we change the keeper is insane. We have a lot of problems at the moment - Kelvin is not one of them.

Would like to see Guly start so we can get a better impression of him:

Davis

Butterfield Fonte Seabourne Harding

We are exactly the same!

Brentford was 'Top v Bottom' we were always going to get beat. Plymouth hadn't won at home in 6 months, they then beat us. We always manage to **** it up when we shouldn't. It's the Wednesday way! Should make for an interesting game Saturday then.

We're missing our most important attacking player in Jermaine Johnson but he has been out for a while.

I agree, I think it will be a tight game and I don't see either side winning comfortably. Neither of us need a draw, it wouldn't surprise me if that was the final outcome.

It's hard to call our lineup. I think it will be something like...

GK Nicky Weaver

RB Lewis Buxton

CB Darren Purse

CB Mark Beevers

LB Tommy Spurr

RM Chris Sedgwick

CM Tommy Miller

CM Giles Coke

LM Gary Teale

ST Neil Mellor

ST Marcus Tudgay

Darren Potter or James O'Connor could also start in the centre of midfield.

Daniel Jones could be picked left midfield, or ahead of Spurr at left back.

Right midfield without Jermaine Johnson is becoming a bit of a problem for us. Chris Sedgwick is not looking too comfortable. We've tried Miller and Coke there in recent games too, and it's a possibility Tudgay could even go there. Its anyones guess what Irvine will do on Saturday.

Up front it will be two of Neil Mellor, Marcus Tudgay, Clinton Morrison and Paul Heffernan.

I am old enough to remember (and this is the absolute truth) Saints ending three teams long runs without a win in one season - Villa hadn't won for about 16 games and couldn't buy goals, played Saints won 3-0.....I have no confidence that we will even score a goal Saturday but I have been wrong as many times as I've been right with Saints so who knows....Luckily my Sunday morning football team manager, who is an Owls fan, is away next weekend. So I am only surrounded by Swindon fans......d'oh!

I think you'll get the 3 points on Saturday somehow, I don't think we'll seriously start picking up points until Rickie is completely match fit and Lallana is somewhat involved in the side, or we get in a similar type player for a few months to cover for him.

I think we'll play (if Barney is injured):

-------------------------DAVIS------------------------

BUTTERFIELD-------FONTE----SEABOURNE------HARDING

CHAMBERLAIN---HAMMOND----SCHNEIDERLIN----PUNCHEON/HOLMES

-----------------LAMBERT----CONNOLLY----------------

Subs: Bialkowski, Dickson, Jaidi, Wotton, Guly, Puncheon/Holmes, Doble

If Barney is passed fit, swap him for Connolly in the XI and put Connolly on the bench instead of Doble.

Is this some kind of weird hybrid? Have we fused Gobern and Doble together to create a new player?

Maybe genetic engineering with youth team players is the way forwards. I've always wondered what was happening in that secret underground bunker at Staplewood.

What do you think will it be?

Who are the players we should look out for?

I think there will be big changes for us on Saturday. 3 losses on the trot and Irvine is starting to feel the pressure. We need a result and I am certain we will be going for it this weekend.

Don't tell him, Pike! :)

None of your business, TartanOwl. You're one of them, not one of us.

how much longer before Richardson is fit??? Butterfield is one slow focker who adds nothing going forward, Semi was 200% better going forward. If you look at the "highlights" of the Colchester game, watching Butters trying to get back for Us nearly goal is painful, why Morgan got closer and he was 30 yds further away.

A slightly experimental line-up, that would see a few names dropped to bench so they could still be brought to make impact, with the intention of getting a point:

--------------Davis--------------

BUTS-----JF-------FIT/CB---------DH

-----------MS------DH--------------

PUNCH--------GULY-----------HOLMES

----------------BARNY---------------

We can;t see what happens at training, but it would be nice to see Do Prado given a start rather than being brought onto to try and rescue a game. Holmes looked lively and finally a corner beat the first man. Give Barnard a go up front he has good movement but it will only work with hard working wingers, thats what u get with punch and holmes, they both track back well and get the ball in the box.
