Are we going up or what..?

I have no idea

Before Huddersfield I was a believer again, but we need to get in the top 6 before Christmas and keep winning and then I will believe again

I wouldn't read much into that result. Huddersfield are a good team at home, that had something to prove against us and had very much a good day during one of our off days.

I reserve the right to change my mind many many times this season to the answer of that question. Yes, no, I haven't got a f ucking clue. At the moment I can't see it but put five wins in a row together and I'll start imagining us winning the league, lose the two after that and I'll be back to imagining mid table obscurity.

Pleeeeeeeeeease bet me any amount they finish nearer relegation than promotion.

I've got a £100 with my mate that saints would finish higher than spurs in their respective leagues ( i give him the draw). I was pretty confident, i'm a little less at the moment but still reckon it'll come in..

Do we have the players in this current team with the stomach for a battle? That's my chief concern. We have to go to difficult places like Huddersfield and compete. It was the same last season. Fine when it's a nice sunny day at St Mary's but not so good when conditions and pitches don't suit. We have to get over that if we're going to get out of this division. I know it's a cliche but it's true. We just must learn to grind out results and, as I say, I'm not convinced we have the right players to do it. Hope I'm wrong!

One major plus is the fact that we now have a Manager who has had to scrap it out with so called "smaller" Teams on not so very good pitches, ie, he has done it with Scu nthorpe twice

At least that is honest there seems to be a lot that change there mind on 1 result I am staying positive and saying yes we will 1 way or another get promoted.

We are not that far off the top nobody is running away with it a few back to back wins and it is all back on, however I accept that we are closer to the bottom than the top and we can't have to many more defeats but for my own peace of mind & sanity I have to believe we will still go up.

I think we might make the play-offs but then the pressure on the team will be massive, so massive that we will fail and spend another season in L1. IMHO of course.

Thats about how I see it as well. Until we get together a well balanced squad and a manager that stays for more than five minutes forget promotion.

I have to agree. I dont believe the team has the mental strength we developed over the scond part of last season to push for an automatic place. I think we will just about squeeze into a play off place much like we did in the championship season with Burley. I dont know why the players have crumbled under the pressure. Saturday was a good example of that. It was built as a big game to see how far we have come and they just crumbled under he pressure. Perhaps they should all go and get hypnotised to get the best out of them?

I think we will, we do have a team capable of promotion, we have a manager who is making us play good, successful football and has great experience of gaining promotion at this level.

Cortese has said "there is money to spend in January", so expect to see us strengthening weak areas in the squad with quality players who can play at the next tier and possibly even further.

Have to say, my £5 bet on us to win the league isn't looking too hot right now! ;)

League one is good isn't it? Thats what some fans said last season when the same question was asked.

Well league one is crap (apart from the ticket prices and the amount of local games) and the sooner we get out of this league the better. After 12 games it looks like we will be spending another season here. Top 2 is out and major improvements are required over the next 34 games for us to reach the play-offs.

Do we look like certs? Absolutely not. With the current team all we can hope for is to avoid another relegation. I hope Adkins can turn it around and make some smart purchases/loans in this season. Right now though a mid-table finish would be a bonus

We're definitely going up this season. Got the squad, got the manager, deserved favourites on August 1st and we still will do it.

Blown the rest of the league out of the water on investment and we we blow them out of the water on the pitch, although we will have to settle for second because I think winning the league is probably beyond us now.

We are going up, easy.

There is still a fair chance of getting automatic, there is still tons of points to play for.

I would be more confident if our manager wasn't talking about "learning lessons" like he did after Saturday. I thought he knew this league back to front, going to Huddersfield shouldn't be a lesson in anything.

Think he was talking about the players, not himself.

To be fair to Adkins what can you say? Most managers have a script they stick too with a few minor changes here and there. The fans want to hear that the same mistakes aren't going to be made, but we all know that they will be made again at some point. That is why we are in the 3rd Division.

This was going to be a tough season for Pardew and nothing has changed for Adkins. If he needs to do one thing quickly it is to get Lambert and Barnard to find the back of the net regularly. We are not scoring enough goals. Sort that out and we shall be okay.

Blown the rest of the league out of the water on investment (True) and we we blow them out of the water on the pitch (not to much of that yet though, maybe Tranmere and Bristol although apparently we were crap in the latter and got four flukey goals according to some on here), although we will have to settle for second because I think winning the league is probably beyond us now.

I love the enthusiam even If I don't quite see it at the moment myself

It's not a big deal, Huddersfield is a tough place to go, we can easily go up without winning every single game.

I'm just getting deja-vu from last season, if we have the old "have to learn how to play on these boggy pitches" 'have to be more physical/direct" ect again I'm gonna shoot myself. The players and manager should know how to get results in this league, neither should be learning lessons at this stage.

I'd be more worried if we had a boss that thought he knew everything. Especially one that had been in the job a month. Everyday should be a learning curve...

We have been performing pretty well before huddersfield, unbeaten in 5. We have looked solid.

I agree, we really REALLY need to start putting the ball away but now with Lambert beginning to look back to his best, Barnard back from suspension and Guly adding some verve to the front line i see no reason why this will not start to change.

Huddersfield played well, got their tactics right and we had an off day, it happens and also they are bloody hard to beat at their place as their home results last and this season show.

We should look to show another spell of dominance Saturday and move on again from there. We are 4 points from the playoffs and 6/7 off of the top two, i honestly think bar a few real shock results we will be there or there abouts by christmas.

We have a decent squad now with good options. I would have happily taken a draw at huddersfield. We should be ok.

Thing is though, if Huddersfield worked out that they needed to press us high up the pitch as we play it out from the back, then everyone else will. Do we then resort to the hopeful punt? If NA learned one thing maybe that it to mix it up a bit?

Two things that worry me are our lack of goals I just can't understand how we've gone from one of the leagues top scoring teams to struggling to find the net in the space of a few months. Also if Hudders can do they homework and figure out how to stop the new "Southampton style" football we've started playing already (after only a couple of games) you can bet the rest of the league will to, I'm waiting to see if Nigel will stick to his style and beliefs or if he'll mix it up to get results.

We have had some bad results at times this season, Yoevil, Rochdale & Orient so the next 3 games are all winable and we must get at least 7 pts from the 9pts to get ourselves in the mix. We then face games against Carlisle, Brighton & P 'boro so are sure to drop points again. We have had a hiccup (against Huddersfield) but it's how they respond that is key.

I wasn't there so i can't really comment much but from what i heard we looked shell shocked and didn't really know what to do about it but kept trying it, Hammond also didn't defend the back four well enough. In the second half we had sorted it.

The passing game works if everyone is available. Against Tranmere it worked as they didn't press but Hammond was never looked like he wanted the ball (but defended well) and never moved into positions to recieve it and Lallana and Punch play too far up the pitch.

We are working on the system and changing the hoof at all costs mentality that we did have, it will take a little time. Huddersfield played very well and were kept to only scoring outside of the box, i am confident that SKD would save these usually and most teams will be broken down by our passing. Also teams that press high up will be easy to get behind if we play well.

We didn't play well against Huddersfield, and they did, thats basically the end of it for me.

I think we will mix it up, there is no way we can continue being as one sided as we were previously. However i think a polished pass and move game suits our players and also getting our wide men playing wide opens the middle up for us to play it.

As far as scoring yes it worries me, especially if it carries on, whats good though is that it has been recognised and this is why Bignall has come in, i know he is not great but is probably all thats around ATM.

Lambert is out of form and Barnard has been suspended and unlucky, we are not far away. Add this to Puncheon not being at his best, Connelly pretty much being finished and Lallana missing so many games as well as Pardew AND the death of the owner and its all been a pretty bumpy ride as of late.

I think thats the most disappointing thing about this season. Every season is normally a bumpy season with us. This season it was supposed to be bloody different going up as champions, loads of goals and lots of wins and yet here we are again looking at another bumpy season.

I think if we had backed Pardew from the start and kept him all season we'd finish top two. I think if Adkins had a full pre season to work with we'd finish top two.

With the way things have panned out with Pardew getting the sack after a handfull of games and the terrible run of form under Wilkins that we will probably finish in the play offs with an outside chance of getting top two.
