Iwan thomas ? a bit of a z lister. I would of thought this was ripe for the legends like Le tissier and lawrie mac who know all about the local community.

Even the names signed up to charitable events aren't good enough.

Thomas out. I won't be adding my support until they've got Madonna and Shaquille O'Neal

Long and short of it is I'm not convinced many Saints fans could give a flying one about the club's charitable contributions. At least not until it becomes a massive accountancy scam to circumvent UEFA's new "can't spend more than your turnover" rules.

Yeah, Iwan Thomas won't know squat about Southampton's community, what with him having lived there for ages and all that. As for Z list, he achieved a hell of a lot more in his sport than MLT ever did.

What a plum.

I think its great stuff this saints foundations, the world class athlete will certainly inspire the kids involved.

Its not all about football.

Along with the latest training ground news, this is another signal that we are in safe hands, lead by a true leader who is in it for the long haul, who has the backing of his investors...

We are such a better club than we were a few years ago (when we were broke and dutch duoing!)... Compare that news article with what our local rival have been getting up to...

£1m year on year donations, building community infrastructures, world class sportsman endorsement VS Gun running, stealing from childrens cancer charities, Tax evasion, Fraud takeovers =

Make me proud SFC!

Whilst I fully support the intiative, I am intrigued as to why someone who "Fully understands the importance of the Club in the community", appears to have alienated that very same community in such a short space of time.

And where does the ticket tax sit in this statement?

Lawrie Mac is my employers(charitable organisation) ambassador and does one hell of alot of work to raise funds.

As does Iwan Thomas,Le tiss,Paul Jones,Franny Benali,Claus Lundekvam and Shaun Udal and Mike Osman.

Infact Southampton Football club have made a real difference with the work they do over a considerable time.

I believe they might be making a presentation tomorrow at half time,if all goes well.

Not an obvious choice, not a football choice but at least someone who is known nationwide if not even internationally.

Not the nicest bloke I've ever met and both times he was up himself and being a bit if a ****! mind you both times he was out drinking as was I! He was acting like berty big bollovks flashing the cash and I suppose if I hadn't known who he was it wouldn't have mattered!!

Still, fair play to him for supporting the foundation and anything anyone ever does for others free of charge is great by me!!

NB. I spotted Iwan Thomas at Wembley for the JPT. He's always been a fan as far as I know.

Thomas is probably one of the most active "celebrities" in and around Southampton working for charitable organisations and other initiatives.
