I am hoping we will be given first refusal on our own ST seats this time. Not having that choice is really quite insulting to spectators who have backed this club year in year out, thick and thin, fair weather and foul for decades on end.

It is not nice to be told in effect that nobody gives a toss about all that.

Are all the stands open this time?

Nothing about ST-holders claiming own seats?

Bit of a rushed article. I was able to book a seat in block 7 of itchen so can confirm that is at least open :) It didnt choose my ST seat like it did last time so guess thats gone.

Is quite poor that you get NO reward for buying a ST anymore... I'm sure the people in charge these days think they are doing US a favour letting us buy them.

Er, you get loads of "rewards" for buying a season ticket.

???

Buying a season ticket...

- guarantees you that seat at every league game

- gives you priority for away games

- gives you priority for big cup games

- gives you priority for Wembley finals

- allows you to take advantage of the season ticket holder can buy another ticket for £7.50 deal Saints had for 3 league games

- most importantly adult season ticket holders pay £396 for Kingsland central seats, meaning each game costs £17 rather than £25/£27. Saving potentially £230 compared with turning up on the day each game.

OK maybe not NO rewards :D

Most of the above doesnt apply to me as I dont go to many away games and the 7.50 deal benefits someone else :)

I guess my main and only gripe is that our seats arent reserved for us in cup games as they used to. Only takes them to offer them to ST holders a few days before incase you want them. Admittedly I would possibly get it if I phoned up and didnt book online but it shouldnt require luck as it does in big games...

Cant believe you cant buy your own seat for this game online.

The previous two rounds I could understand but this is a premiership team in the 3rd round of the FA Cup FFS.

I fail to understand the thinking behind it.

I completely agree and I am quite miffed that I cannot buy my own seat on-line. I have in fact bought a ticket now and it's quite near my seat, but I would far prefer my seat TBH as I've got to know the people around me. I think the club are letting the ST holders down by not providing a preference.

I can't believe you can't buy your own seat! This is an outrage! I'm going to write a strongly-worded letter to my local MP/Points of View/10 Downing Street.

You used to be able to buy your own seat under the Labour government.

its not your seat for FA Cup games...its anyones seat

I think, probably deliberately, you have missed the point.

Up to this season, remember the Pompey game last year to prove it still existed, Season Ticket Holders had a period of time whereby they could secure their seat for Cup games.

When all stands are open I wonder why this still does not apply ?

The point is your seat has always been your seat for cup gmaes unless you chose not to go to the game or take that seat.

The club has now taken away that small benefit and I think its a fair question to ask why.

I fail to see how on earth people get wound up about this...

when i had my season tickets...I only got one as it worked out quite a bit cheaper to get all/most of the league games in.

for the cup games I went..if my seat had gone (which never bothered me) i would move elsewhere around the ground to sample the atmosphere..or sit near to my seat as I could.

when you go to SMS..the ground is a bowl, the view is pretty good no matter where you sit..people would have a point if their ST seat was not behind a pillar and when they got a seat for a cup game..they got a restricted view.....this simply is not the case at SMS.

l - head deppo.

i remember when you had to queue overnight outside the Dell to show your dedication to get a cup ticket and the chairman never brought out coffee and free tickets for life if you dropped a sprog. I personally preferred the old way as us fans bonded through sharing the inconvenience, now (some) people really do have the 'i'm a better fan than you' attitude to a fault, in fact maybe the club SHOULD give them their seats so that we can avoid them.

I also like the experince of meeting new faces and hugging strangers, it;s much more conducive with a decent society imho.

I dont think anyone is claiming to be a better fan than anyone else, certainly not me. But if you make a commitment to paying a company so much money its understandable to want something extra that costs the club nothing to implement (re-implement that is), and people who go to the odd game here and there can't honestly be peeved about a ST holder having the seat they sit in for league games in the cup surely, when only the games against massive clubs sell out and most of the people fighting for the seats we want are only going for the very reason it's a big club!

Is a bit of a non issue in the grand scheme of things I agree, but if people feel it should be in place then thats their opinion and shouldn't be shot down for it...

It is not non-season ticket holders' place to criticise season ticket holders for wanting the privilege of being able to claim their own seat.

It costs the club nothing to give season ticket holders a small amount of time (even 24 / 48hours) to claim their own seats before general sale.

Some season ticket holders feel their are benefits for them in being able to do this. For instance, it is nice to be surrounded by the same people game upon game. I go with one mate and have quite enjoyed gradually also getting to know a couple of the other people around me. Having a brief natter with these familiar faces is part and parcel of going to SMS now.

Equally, for ST holders who have purchased premium seats, there is some disadvantage at being forced to sit in other areas of the ground. In my opinion, my ST seats gives me the perfect view; I am slap bang on the halfway line and about three quarters of the way back. I cannot buy this view in the opposite area of the ground so I'm left with a battle on my hands as I desperately try to secure one of those premium seats. I've sat in other areas of the ground and the view isn't as good; I'm either facing across one end of the pitch and forever craning my neck, or I'm right an end so at a disadvantage when play is at the other end.

Ultimately then, being able to secure my st seat gives me perks and doesn't cause anybody else a disadvantage, so why on earth shouldn't the club offer that option?

As the game is over a month away why couldn't the club allow a couple of days for season ticket holders to be able to buy a ticket for their own seat? If others think this is an unreasonable request then please tell me why, or is it that they want to be able to grab one of the better seats, even though the person normaly sat in that seat has had to pay more in the first place for their seat (Kingsland Centre more expensive than other parts of the ground i think) for league games. To some it may feel a petty moan that they can not get the seat they want, but to those it affects can be a major reason for not bothering to go. And as said at the start, the game is some way off, so why change something that has worked well in the past and keeps all happy.

Well said. Thanks for saving me the time explaining the above to the numpties on here who don't get it.

I know you're not suppose to post anything even remotely critical of the club on this forum. But £20 for a ticket, for less than attractive opposition, who will play their reserve side just after christmas, and after two homes games in quick succession is not good pricing.

Problem is it's not only upto us, the price has to be agreed with the visiting team.

Can you buy your normal seat? its doesn't say?

bit pricey really, this should have been £15

Man City did £5 tickets for their Europa league game v Salzburg last week.

I don't think this is a bit pricey at all. It is slightly less than a league game in most areas and we are playing a Premier League team in the 3rd round of the FA Cup. Personally I would rather go to this than the majority of league games, with the exception of Bournemouth, Brighton and a couple of others.

Well I'm a season ticket holder, so hopefully it is "my place" to criticise. If you want a decent seat, then buy one now. There are plenty available. How can 20k other Saints fans manage to enjoy watching Saints without having "the best view in the ground". There are no bad views at St Marys. Is it any coincidence that there moaners come from what is probably the least atmospheric, least "supporting" part of the ground? I bet if you go to the Blackpool game you'll spend the whole of the match grumbling about not having your usual seat in the Kingsland like a load of old codgers did behind me in the Itchen for the Cheltenham game!

People like what they like and as regulars to ST Marys paying hard earned cash they have preferences when it comes to their visits in the same way humans have preferences with anything... I very much doubt many of the Northam lot would enjoy having to sit in the Chapel stand if all the Northam ST holders seats were sold out due to all the people going purely because its a prem side taking them all....

...oh and just cos I dont want to sing whilst staggering about like a p*ssed idiot surrounded by people who just want to cause trouble doesnt make me any less supporting of our club. I pay my money to support the club, not just for my own enjoyment (Hence why the price doesnt come into it when I think about buying a ticket...)

But their point isn't about going to a part of the ground that has less atmosphere than where they normally sit, its moving to a bit of the ground that they seem to suggest has a significantly worse view. Are you honestly telling me that there aren't seats currently available for the Blackpool game that have a good view?

Extremely annoyed just went down to get my seats and they've sold my season ticket seats as there was preference for ST holders.

My mates who sit next to me got theirs on the phone yesterday so now I can't sit next to them.

What a stupid bloody system

The tickets are on sale now. There is a month until the game. If you want your season ticket seat or one close, it would be very easy to get if you book soon. I doubt there will be a massive rush for this game.

Not if you are out of the country it isn't. The stupid idiots in the ticket office has ballsed up again.

We must be very stubborn over ticket prices because we had the same issue with Shrewsbury.

Overall good prices and the seats are booked!

Well that article definitely sounds to me that BLACKPOOL wanted cheaper prices, that statement virtually says as much.

f*ck sake saints, we should be doing as much as we can to get fans in and boost the attendance for home advantage, make the prices as cheap as possible.

As much as I am looking forward to the game I doubt we will get more than 13K for this match, doubt more than 600 will travel from Blackpool

Maybe a bit of planning was in order, If there is a group why don't one of you take everybody's customer number and book all the tickets early, which is what I do for my group so we always sit together in our usual seats. There is no trouble getting usual seats if one books as soon as possible. I would prefer a period for season ticket holders to claim their seat but it is as well to be prepared if that doesn't happen.
