Saint_John Posted 8 December, 2010 Share Posted 8 December, 2010 As we 100% sure Fonte is out. The OS says he is and the BBC site says his 5 bookings were (Bristol 65 mins, Swindon JPT 69 mins, Huddersfield 90+10 mins, Carlisle 38 mins and Cheltenham 84 mins). HOWEVER, the FA own site does not mention any suspension http://www.thefa.com/TheFA/Disciplinary (then select Suspended Players List ) It mentions other players who have got 5 bookings e.g. Tevez, Holt (norwich suspended against the CHEATS FC), and Power (Tranmere) etc. but there is NO mention of Jose being suspended. In the past I have heard that Referee's reports were submitted incorrectly and marked the wrong player for a booking. I am 99% sure he is suspended but it would amiss if we didn't play him and then found out later that there had been a mistake at the FA.
Mowgli Posted 8 December, 2010 Share Posted 8 December, 2010 I think we have sufficient strength to rest him anyway. We're not reliant on any individuals now. Depth in almost every position. It's gonna be SO cold Saturday though.....

doddisalegend Posted 8 December, 2010 Share Posted 8 December, 2010 Great some football seems like forever since I've been to SMS although it was only a couple of weeks ago in the FA cup. Brentford are only 3 pts behind us in the league have beaten Plymouth and Colchester both away from home in their last two games and have in fact won their last four away matches. This could turn out to be a tough match. On the other hand at home we seem to be strong. So 2-2 maybe. Hopefully a win and a performance, still have the feeling we're winning without really turnning it on yet I want to see us crush teams at home. Liquidshokk Posted 8 December, 2010 Share Posted 8 December, 2010 Have a real dilema here..... My christmas do is on Saturday night in the Cotswolds and dinner is at 8... Really really want to go to the game for which I have ticket for (ST) so trying to decide wether to not go to football, or leave at HT or cancel my booking for the christmas do!! If I left at after the game I would never make it to hotel (2.5 hours away) get changed and at table for 8... Leaving at half time will be really difficult, especially if there is only 1 goal in it.... Im edging towards saying Im no longer going to christmas do but isnt that unbelievably sad to choose a league 1 football match over a christmas party??? It takes me only about 2 hours to get to Cheltenham from Southampton, and that's without going nuts, sticking reasonably close to speed limits. So compromise and just leave about 10 mins before the end to avoid the traffic, arrive just before 8, check in and change quickly, getting to table about 10 past 8. These do's never start on time. Ok? Sorted? I'm so glad you shared this problem with the group.
torsaint Posted 8 December, 2010 Share Posted 8 December, 2010 I had a similar dilemna having to get to Corsham Wilts by 6.30pm. Arranged a parking place through club fo £10 in St Mary's school, left 5 or so minutes before end and made Corsham with 5 minutes to spare via A34 and M4. I'm sure you could easily make cotsolds in 2 and a half hours. Good luck.Where in the cotswolds are you going? Liquidshokk Posted 8 December, 2010 Share Posted 8 December, 2010 Thanks guys, the do is in Wotton-under-Edge, South Gloucestershire Not sure I like the idea of leaving 10 mins before the end... Im always slagging off the people who leave early and no matter what the score I always stay till the end... If I was going to leave early I'd leave at HT... Leavinga the end sounds like it will be a bit tight and wont look too good if I get to table late.... hmmmm.
Weston Saint Posted 8 December, 2010 Share Posted 8 December, 2010 You should be able to do it in just over 2 hours, M3, M4 etc. Game over at 5pm say - 20mins to get out of Southampton. Reckon you will be there by 7:45 latest. I drove there a few years ago on a Monday afternoon, left at 2pm for a 6pm start and got there at 4pm! Saint Fan CaM Posted 9 December, 2010 Share Posted 9 December, 2010 And back to the game... (; They've got good striker options (Vine) and with Jose out, it might not go the way we want it too. Could be a tricky one, but I think if we're on it and Rickie has done some good work during the break, we might just go out 2-1 winners.

If not Doble Not bad Harding in for Dickson though, when oxo wears out (as he does around 70 mins) Dickson on to left wing and Lallana switchs to right side. Probably Chaplow for Morgan too. I think Morgan is good but he hasn't looked very bothered in the last few matches he has played, so rather have an up for it Chaplow. Dr Who? Posted 10 December, 2010 Share Posted 10 December, 2010 I have a terrible feeling about December and I do not know why? Back after the Brighton game I thought we would win our next 3 in the league. now one has been postponed, Brentford is on my birthday and I cannot remember Saints ever winning on my birthday, but I do remember a game getting called off, and next week is Walsall away, and as I have managed not to see us win away this season. MK Dons, Carlisle, and Huddersfield, I am not thinking this is good. Someone please help me get the winning feeling back that I have had all season Perhaps it is turning 36 that is getting to me and now I am a unhappy and downbeat person from now on? Window Cleaner Posted 10 December, 2010 Share Posted 10 December, 2010 [quote=adriansfc;910061 7 points from 3 would be brilliant. In fact we probably need at least 20 points from the next 8 league games (those between now and the end of January?) to get us right back on track for automatic promotion. Any less would probably compromise that a bit.6 wins, 2 draws minimum. Hard task really.

Liquidshokk Posted 10 December, 2010 Share Posted 10 December, 2010 It's when the games come thick and fast that we should really take advantage because we have a good squad of players. There are some small squads in this league with limited resources, so we have a big advantage there. We just need to learn to win twice in 3 or 4 days, which is something this club has really struggled with for years and years. I agree, and I think the fact that our players have been able to continue their training throughout the bad weather is going to pay dividends over the coming games.... Im guessing not a lot has been done recently in the clubs who have lesser facilities.. Hopefully we can make the most of the big squad and the uninterupted training.. Window Cleaner Posted 11 December, 2010 Share Posted 11 December, 2010 (edited) No barney, chappers or Richardson? Injured, banned or am I just confused? not banned for any FA reasons, must be that their injuries haven't cleared up despite a longish lay-off. Connolly and Doble complete the bench by the way. In fact Chaplow hasn't turned out since the 20th of November, longish lay of for an Achilles problem really, unless it's in a really bad way of course but serious achilles tendon wear is usually a slow development condition and doesn't usually appear from one day to the next, unless it's a tear of some sort. Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 11 December, 2010 Share Posted 11 December, 2010 Is it just me or are we starting to look a little thin on the ground in terms of the bench now? Losing Fonte, Holmes, Barnard, Chaplow and Richardson means we're half a team down and mainly down to the kids after the first XI. Thought Chappers might be ready for today, given NA thought he was going to be ready for Hartlepool last week. 3 weeks out now; injury must be worse than 1st thought?
