A name I've not seen before N'Lundula, academy lad perhaps, surely not Gael N'Lundulu who was at PSG at one time, thought he was wasting away down at Skate just now.

Pompey paid up his contract. He was a huge prospect, so very strange.

Perhaps they were the only ones able to offer him tax free wages.

Sounds like it!

FA Cup winners Portsmouth have reportedly beaten Premier League rivals Manchester City, Arsenal and Everton to the signature of Paris St Germain's teenage striker, Gael N'Lundulu.

PSG's highly-rated 16-year-old forward, Gael N'Lundulu, has chosen to join Portsmouth, according to a report in the French press. He has apparently rejected the option of staying in Paris because of the money being offered.

N'Lundulu is said to have wanted a professional contract, but instead was offered a trainee contract by Paris St Germain.

"He has turned down our offer of a trainee contract," Bertrand Reuzeau, head of youth football at PSG, told French newspaper Le Parisien."We were not prepared to do more for a young lad who is yet to prove himself. It was a financial choice."

Got released by us in the summer, to my amazement. Ready made replacement for Ox imo if his head is sorted out

So what's he been doing since? No club at all? Bit of a come down from prospect at PSG, wanted by big clubs, to nothing.

(NB You have no idea how hard it was not to put a pompey insult in that last sentence! Hope you appreciate the effort. ;))

No idea, but he was on £3,000 a week at 17 so I doubt hes short of money. As I said earlier if you can get his head right you have a ready made replacement for Ox

Come and join us FMPR. Step away from the darkside. You'll have much more fun supporting Saints.

The guy with us is spelt N'Lundula... the one at Pompey is called N'Lundulu...

Do you honestly believe that someone from Saints putting a name of a triallist on twitter will be that accurate with spelling a foreign name? Half our own fans still seem to think our manager's name is Atkins. You'll be telling us next that you use the definitive Dave Merrington guide to the pronounciation of footballers' names.;)

In all fairness (copyright DM!) it could be that there is also a N'Lundula as well as a N'Lundulu in English football, but it brings up nothing on google.

PS in fact the only link for N'Lundula from google is to a PSG fans forum where one of them has spelt N'Lundulu's name with an 'a'.

J'ai lu l'article sur N'Lundula sur "espoirs du foot" et lui a déjà passé pro c'est trés bien ! També aussi chez nous, et alors le Kebano est-ce qu'il est encore à Paris ? ..which I think means something like I read an article about N'L as one of the hopes of football , and he's already signed a pro contract, then goes on about other players.

You people just don't get the strategy do you? We should simply buy the top scorer from every other team in the division. Not only would that give us extra 23 squad members we need to be safe, but we'd be weakening the opposition at the same time.

It was after all pretty much the strategy we started last season .... Lambert, Barnard, Puncheon were all their club's top scorer weren't they?

OS still insisting on calling him Gael Nlundula but it's the same bloke. Must be about 18/19 I guess, technically perfect, sharp in front of goal (or he was all that when he was at PSG) headstrong, but then aren't they all at that age,Anelka set a precedent at PSG and now

they all want to go down that road.

So much for promting home grown talent through the ranks then....?

(apart from the 23 we already have over the last 16 years of course - he said in a thinly veiled attempt at making up stats)

So Gobern, Doble, Ward-Prowse, OC all being promoted to the squad via ranks this season isn't enough??

Anyway Gael is only a trialist as far as I know.

Exactly so there is no risk....although I hope he does a bit better than our other young French stars.

Folly, Baseya, Griffit all who offered a lot but didnt progress here as they should have.

I was disappointed when Cedric left as he was just starting to show progress going from Bambi on ice

to being a real handful up front.

is this kid worth getting excited about?

how many games has he actually played in his career? Did he ever get in Pompey's team?

If he is any good surely he would have been snapped up as soon as he left the skates?

I heard he was a bit of a handful on the disciplinary front as well, didn't get very far at Lille either, don't know what he's doing nowadays.

In fact he's just across the channel at Le Havre (D2) first team regular apparently.
