Rochadle Vs Saints - OFF

FFS I hate Saturdays with no match. It's boring and we'll go down in the table albeit temporarily, but it still looks crap when you look at the table and you see yourselves slipping away. Puts more pressure on to get results later.

Unless the teams around us don't win...

Very peed off right now, surely the Football League should have something to say about teams ground-sharing with Rugby League teams. It's more than a coincidence that the Rugby League season started last week, with Rochdale Hornets playing just last Sunday, then we get the postponement today. Why no advance warning yesterday on the Rochdale FC website that there would be a pitch inspection today? I know of people who set off last night from Southampton, even got a text at 6.30 this morning from one lad setting off from the Bath area. Would have been nice to have advance notice that this might happen.

Possible dates for Rochdale v Southampton to be rearranged:

15th March

29th March

12th April

19th April

3rd May

Sod's Law say I'll be working in London the week we play them.

Maybe not, considering our away form is better than our home.

Yes it is better, but so many away games in one hit cannot be a good thing. Very dissappointed and as previously said, the further behind we fall the more pressure we come under. That of course, could work in our favour... but then it could just as easily go the other way.

But we did have 'advance notice'...

As you highlighted above, the pitch was likely to be more prone to heavy rain due to the preceding rugby game. We knew that in advance.

And the weather forecast this time yesterday was pretty much nailed on that the area was going to be deluged overnight. We knew that in advance.

Ok, nothing was guaranteed but there were clear indications that the game would be in jeopardy. It's thus not surprising (to me) that the game was called off.

Anyone setting off this morning / last night would have known they were taking a risk given the circumstances (crap pitch + crap weather)

As late in the season as possible please as this gives us an opportunity to get a lot of tickets for a match, hopefully, at a crucial end to the season.

We'll get just 800 for Brighton and around 1200 at Brentford. At Rochdale, I know it'll be another long drag oop north midweek but we could have over 3600 in the away end.

Nice end btw.

whether we will have 3600 people who will have the time(and or money) to travel to Rochdale on a Tuesday evening is less certain.

Have the team already travelled up to Rochdale ? I presumed they were going yesterday and not come back until after the Hartlepool match. That would leave them hanging around for 4 days without a game.

Yes. They had planned to stay oop north for the Hartlepool game. Assume they'll still stay up there. Perhaps Cortese will give Sir Alex a bell to get them tickets for the Utd vs Crawley cup game...

Looking at our fixtures and theirs, we won't be playing them till April:

Date Rochdale schedule

15th March Notts County

29th March Charlton

12th April free

19th April free

3rd May free

Glad it's not going to be March, or we'd be playing 8 games in the month.

Why can't we fill in on Saturday 26th March, must be a free week-end because of the JPT I suppose. Strange leaving a Saturday vacant like that and having to catch up matches hundreds of miles away on Tuesdays.

Why would they want to be bored for 95 minutes though.A visit to a WI tea party would probably be more entertaining. Man U -Crawley will be a complete non match, even if Man have their U12s on the pitch.

Would be a bit tough on Rochdale, playing 2 games in less than 24 hours including the journey back from Hartlepool the night before.

This is beyond a joke now, it has not rained for 2 days, they knew rain wasforecast overnight so why not PREPARE! Saints should complain to the FL, we let these poxy teams play on our carpet so how about some f***** effort in return!? Grrrrr

This is spot on. Ill prepared pathetic Noddy Clubs. Get us out of this League, pleeeeease!

Arrived in Manchester at 9.39am having left central at 5.09 this morning. This league is a farce and the sooner we get out it the better. No rain in Manchester at the moment. Why did they not put covers on overnight?!

Perhaps they haven't got any covers.Sustaining League 1 football on 2500 gates must be extremely precarious.Perhaps it didn't arrange them to play us this week-end. Rochdale could well fancy their chances of a play-off place are better if they play us mid-week.

I believe 26th March is free as it is an "international weekend". Was looking forward to today - b0ll0cks!!

Am I missing the joke here?

We are playing Plymouth away on 26/3/11. K.O 12.30 to avoid clashing with the Wales v England match.
