Conglomerate of amusing Brighton threads...

....because they're such a bunch of bitter, bitter saddo's.

I'll kick it off with this gem: http://www.northstandchat.com/showthread.php?199751-Great-poyet-put-down-to-scc

I don't get them. Adkins is arrogant and disrespectful yet compare the two interviews between the two managers and you'll see the real sore loser with an attitude. It's Poyet.

lol brighton fans think there better then us, yes this season they have been but some comments were pathetic and showed there lack of football knowledge, the NA not fit to clean poyets boots, as a player yes as managers no, NA is clearly a better manager, won more then him and has a job at one of the top 20 biggest clubs in England, with much better facilities.

were be midtable maybe playoffs next season if we go and there be bottom 3.

They've made flags directed at us, changed their pre-match music montage for us and also had their programme printed with a sentence to get at us. All that effort and they still lost - good going.

Why are they so bothered anyway? I couldn't care two hoots about them and I've never seen them as a rivalry and never will (Same with Bournemouth). Poyet's comments pre-match about this being a Derby game were nonsense - it's just another noddy club trying to find a rival. We have similar when we play Reading too, really sad.

All really small time stuff.

Have a lot of sympathy for the long standing Brighton fans who have had to put up with a lot of shyte over the years, but some of their new fans along with some of those that run their club have shown themselves as to be decidedly small time in recent weeks.

SUMS it up for me, they should stick to hiring out deck chairs on that stoney beach and accept we do not care about them

Likewise... I know a few long-time Brighton fans who are genuine football fans and love their club. But they suffer the same problem as we do, in the hands of a bunch of mongs on the internet who seem intent on rushing onto opponents forums and acting like ****s. It's these idiots who are the loudest and therefore seem to 'represent' the fanbase, when in fact they really don't.

That said, the sheer number of threads and fans of theirs directing this sort of sour-grapes at us does challenge my theory somewhat.

If the truth be told we took our foot off the gas and didn't want to risk getting injured for our summer hols.

If it had mattered we'd have battered ya!!

in others words we let you win!!

Now shuffle away and concentrate on trying to avoid the play offs!!

Sad. So so sad.

I too wonder if it is a little bit more widespread than you or I would like to believe, as it does seem that quite a few of them have got their knickers in a twist with regards us.

Some of the stuff on their boards is weird enough (but like you I believe the interweb thingy can be a haven for a multitude of saddos and weirdos, myself included LOL), but working out a whole playlist dedicated to us in the run up to the game, printing strap lines on the front of the matchday programme, making up banners and getting all so het up is just so smalltime.

They have done their talking on the pitch this season, their long suffering fans have been rewarded with promotion and a fabulous stadium and yet a great many still seem to be harbouring this inferiority complex/small time notion and feel the need to fill it by directing some vitriolic abuse our way. Quite sad, quite small time.

They just want to be noticed and find someone to be their rivals, as the skates are nearer suggest they look to them for someone to hate

TBH we didn't look like we wanted it today imo. It was Saints cup final and a nothing game to us, that said, fair play to them, looks like we'll see them again next season...

I am getting a little tired of this imagined emnity. They were crap at St Marys and we beat them today but they have been far more consistent than us and have won the league comfortably with only an average squad. Well done and good luck to them and I hope they give us more tickets for the away game in their new stadium next season.

I just love all this "we are champions" we are by far the best team etc..

in about 2 weeks..when the season is over and we have both been promoted...them winning the league this season will mean absolutely nothing..we will be just another promoted team with them next season

Went to the game today an the better team won. Think their will be action taking against the Brighton fans who throw at least 3 plastic drink bottles at our manager just before the start of the second half.. Maybe the Police should have recorded them instead of the Saints fan.. What was all that banner about Portsmouth beating the scum 4-1 and sending us down (does football really need this type of incitement).Saw plenty of fight with both sets of fans after the game too.

We have seen plenty of teams raise their game lately to play the runaway champions of the league, stains cup final was today - a fact underlined by the sold out away end. Had they lost today the playoff lottery was looming large on the horizon, that alone gave their players an edge IMHO. Irrespective of what gus says about 100 points etc we have done the jobs of promotion and the title - we looked like we were not as sharp today in a big way and when muzza went off things only looked worse. I am so glad that promotion is wrapped up

Deluded. Seriously, seriously mental. I don't think I need to point out why.

We had a poor start, only 5 points from the first 7 games, then the settling in of the new manager. It wasn't until after Christmas that we really got going. We have matched them since then. In 23 matches we have taken 52 points. In the first 19 games we had taken only 28 points. By my reckoning over the season at the latter rate we would have amassed 104 points to put Brighton in perspective. In Adkins 36 games we have amassed 76 points.

We have had a splendid season and winning the league was what we set out to do and achieved it. It's just sad when clubs have smug supporters who boast about how their club is the greatest in the league and will romp home to the trophy only to have egg on their face when we proved they are not the biggest or best club in the league. We were trying to do huddersfield a favour a get them the 2nd spot because they probably deserve it but unfortunately the game we wanted to play diddn't come off today mainly due to the hoof ball from the saints team that exploited our CB's. I also think th game swung massively in saints favour when Chaplow abused Ankergren and got away with only a yellow. If the ref hadn't bottled it you wouldn't be here singing

So many morons, so little time

I've just had a look at some of the stuff, what schizophrenic rubbish. One thread yesterday was assuring the Huddersfield supporter that this was their must win game, no let up, undefeated at home and wanted 100 points. Today they lose, didn't need to win, game meant nothing etc, etc. What a bunch of knobs, with joined up thinking like that it would be better not to put their thoughts down in writing.

Absolutely - the difference between us and BHA was our tediously predictable 'balls up' of a start.

The title was lost in those first 7 games as the remaining 35 games have seen us neck and neck (assuming we win the next match).

Next season please can we get the pre season right and actually hit the ground running for once!!

I must admit to a slight lack of control and going on the Brighton board to take the **** a little.

I apologise for my lack of maturity and know I am in the wrong... as punishment I have purchased some tickets for friends and family for the game on Monday

Endured BBC Radio Sussex phone in on way back. Where do these people come from. Thought it was only our fishy friends who had surplus fingers. Then dear old Dave Merrington goes on (think NA was too busy to bother) and says we were disrespectful not to give them their guard of honour and how he would have done so. I've got no problem with Dave but had he not heard Poyet's interview or seen the winding up antics of the announcer or the abuse hurled at NA by their fans. Not much respect there Dave particularly after we'd beaten them fair and square something they seemed to struggle to acknowledge.

You've summed it really well for me. One minute they're saying one thing, then another, totally nullifying whatever point they just made. And the arrogance thing... ****ing hell, reading some of the crap on that forum makes you wonder... sad thing is, most of those plebian needle fondlers don't even realise what they're saying is far more arrogant and offensive than we've ever been.

Don't even try and reason with the saddo's as well... I tried that and failed. Absolute d1cks. I actually prefer Pompey.

I think a great deal of credit has to go to Gus Poyet, he's got the most out of some very average players. That's not me trying to be harsh or insulting, it is a fact. How many clubs in this division would have taken the likes of Ashley Barnes, Elliott Bennett or Casper Ankergren? They're not exactly world beaters are they? Poyet has onviously done something right to get the best out of them and get them to play well with each other.

That said, I genuinely believe had we not decided to shoot ourselves in the foot by sacking Pardew early on and not getting points off of Rochdale at home and Swindon away, we would have provided a good challenge for the top spot. Do I honestly care we've not won the title? No. Lets say we are in the Championship next season with Brighton - is anyone going to be too bothered that they won the title and we didn't? Definitely not. It's about just getting there. Doesn't really matter how you do it, although I don't want to be involved in the play-offs.

To any Brighton fans watching this thread - as apparently they seem to enjoy spending time on this forum...

Well done Brighton, you're up, you're champions. I don't give a flying ****. I'm a Southampton supporter and will worry about my team and my team only. As for this childish dislike for our manager and our club as a whole (apparently we're your rivals, its news to me I must say) it really does make me wonder. If our manager isn't very pleasant in your eyes then really Gus Poyet is simply a liar. You don't play nice, neat attractive football. You wanted a draw at our place and played for it, and today were time wasting when you fortuitously and undeservedly took the lead.

and on...

Cheaterfield got more coverage for getting promotion than we have got. What do we have to do to get the recognition that we deserve

Yeah, what do you have to do? I think you deserve the entire football league to give a guard of honour and suck each and every one of your players off for such a fantastic achievement. Give it a rest, ffs. Anyway, didn't they get a load of coverage last week?

Anyway - and on...

Thought they would of least showed Murry's penalty appeal and how he got injured

Yeah, it's a travesty. Forgot Saints dominating the game and the chances, let's show a dubious penalty appeal.

****ing needle botherers.

Funniest post in that thread:

"this will be the best show FL could imagine with SCC beating us, Claridge will love it, all of them will."
Claridge is a skate. Do they really think Pompey hate them more than us? Delusional isn't the word...

Could somebody who is registered on their board (I can't be arsed) point out that we take more to Hartlepool on a mid-week winter evening..or that today's away showing is probably the smallest we've had all season... Ta.

So they think that we were lucky to win today and were by far NOT the best team they've faced this season?

Does that mean it was just luck that gave them their unbeaten run up til now? You can certainly infer that... so you can also infer that, in fact, from what they're saying, they didn't deserve to win the title...

After the euphoria, (and much relief), of the win against BHA and the amusement at the their loonies plaintiff cries of robbed,we weren't trying et al, I think that sincere congratulations are to be extended to Brighton and Poyet on a job well done. Also, whether or not we like to make out they are not our rivals, of course they are and hopefully will be next season. Maybe not on the same level as Pmuff, but rivals from reasonably close by and like it or not, promoted way before us. So well done them.

I agree. They are worthy champions but it is sad how a few hundred of their supporters and influential elements within the club have so much unashamed hate towards Saints, just because we happen to be a bigger club in size than they are. I think they are letting the green eyed monster get out of control. As I have said before, I like Brighton and am pleased another south coast club has gained promotion.

I can even understand the anti-Adkins banner as you are always going to get fans of other teams goading what have might been said in the past, resentment of past managers etc. However, I have never seen a cover of a match day programme be so disrespectful to another club's manager despite what he might have said in the past. They (the Brighton Board) need to have a long hard look at themselves and grow up!

Forget them and move on, they parked the bus at our place and got the point they came for we went their place determend to get all three points and got them, says it all. Both them and Bompey have tried to make out we are rivals, never have been never will be, the leading question is how long can they keep hold of GP.

The daft thing is that if they'd just chilled the f*ck out and enjoyed their achievement instead of mouthing off all game then us winning wouldn't have hurt half so much!

They came unstuck entirely through their own knobheadery. Funny as hell :)
