Seaside Saint 2 Posted 12 June, 2011 Share Posted 12 June, 2011 BBC says McLaren will take over at Forest on Monday. That could either be a master-stroke or a disaster for them.

SparkySaint Posted 12 June, 2011 Share Posted 12 June, 2011 I can see McClesh at forest. Not too sure Brum will want Davies. I'd say overall its bad news but at the end of the day all we need to do its concentrate on ourselves
Badger Posted 12 June, 2011 Share Posted 12 June, 2011 Depends who they bring in. Forest talking to Permatanned McLaren. Birmingham - no idea. I suspect Martin O'Neill's name will be linked with both, and if he manages to sell or let that flat in Winchester, then he'd probably be interested in either post esp.Forest. Not popular with the fans, but what does Randy Spastic know about 'soccer' and its tribalism in the UK ?
Colinjb Posted 12 June, 2011 Share Posted 12 June, 2011 (edited) I love these lazy sundays. I do hope McClaren takes over at Forest, I suspect there is a good manager in there waiting to get out but he will forever be tarnished by his time as the FA's pawn. Happy to see that someone is happy to take the risk on him, you don't win the Eredivisie with Twente on good fortune alone. derry Posted 12 June, 2011 Share Posted 12 June, 2011 Davies was on borrowed time, no surprise as he has been heavily criticised for living in Glasgow and not spending enough time at the club. Not being promoted this time after all the money spent did for him. McLeish resigning could mean either the financial situation at Birmingham is worse than thought or he has been tapped up by Villa. aintforever Posted 12 June, 2011 Share Posted 12 June, 2011 The Davies sacking is a strange one, getting to the play-offs is not doing too bad for Forest. I doubt Mclaren will be too popular. I would have expected Forest under Davies and Brum under Mcleish to be challenging for promotion, they still could but chances are one of them will hire a donkey. jawillwill Posted 12 June, 2011 Share Posted 12 June, 2011 Gutted to see Davis go. He's been fantastic for us but as I've always said I am more than confident that Bart can do a solid job for us. Not quite so fused about McNish-sort of expected him to be released this summer along with Pulis and co.
Dr Who? Posted 12 June, 2011 Share Posted 12 June, 2011 We just need to focus on what we are doing and not worry about others. Will be many more changes during the season too.

swannymere Posted 12 June, 2011 Share Posted 12 June, 2011 (edited) McClaren is a decent manager, nobody comes out of the England job with credit. Edited 13 June, 2011 by swannymere

Dr Who? Posted 12 June, 2011 Share Posted 12 June, 2011 IF Davies goes to Brum then they will win the league. As much as I cannot stand Davies he has been really good at Forest who have been punching above their weight under him, and give him a club like Brum he will do really well and probably win the league. Crazy Diamond Posted 12 June, 2011 Share Posted 12 June, 2011 The handful of Notts Forest fans I've spoken to all want O'Neill. Former player, and a good one at that, who is looking for a job. Though it's just as absurd as him managing us in League One - there's a seven man 'transfer consultation' panel headed by David Pleat, and he'd have very little say on who arrives and who departs. Shame.

SuperMikey Posted 13 June, 2011 Share Posted 13 June, 2011 O'Neill to Forest with Bryan Robson as his assistant. You heard it here first. McLaren is a good manager though, people forget what he achieved with Middlesborough before taking the England job, he turned them from relegation-fodder into a very strong team on the fringe of the top 6. sammysaint Posted 13 June, 2011 Share Posted 13 June, 2011 good news about brum i think Alex is a top manager was unlucky last season with injurys and his strikers being ****. NF im not sure if its good or not billy is a good championship manager and plays **** football so maybe if someone goes in and gets them to play nice football it may take them a while to adapt. Smirking_Saint Posted 13 June, 2011 Share Posted 13 June, 2011 The money Forest have spunked on players over the past few years I would argue they SHOULD be a top 6 team. Problem is Davies doesn't get the best out of talented ball playing footballers, just ones that can kick the sh*t out of the other team. I could sort of see the Davies sacking coming, McLeish leaving ? Hmm, maybe he hasn't the heart to manage in the NPC ? Or as someone else said they are in the mire ? Badger Posted 13 June, 2011 Share Posted 13 June, 2011 Birmingham apparently seeking permission to talk to Steve Cotterill to fill their vacancy Now that would be amusing, and I suspect Cotterrill will want to go if given the option,as he probably knows he might be on a few weeks in the new season to impress the new owners before he's on his way again. Greenridge Posted 14 June, 2011 Share Posted 14 June, 2011 Doesn't deserve a thread of it's own and as this is a Championship Manager thread it seems appropriate here......Shearer is in talks to take over from Dave Jones at Cardiff. Seems a bit left-field that one.
Crazy Diamond Posted 14 June, 2011 Share Posted 14 June, 2011 (edited) Doesn't deserve a thread of it's own and as this is a Championship Manager thread it seems appropriate here......Shearer is in talks to take over from Dave Jones at Cardiff. Seems a bit left-field that one. The whole world seems to be against it. It's really quite hypocritical. Everyone is saying that McClaren should be given a second chance, a lot of the press are saying that despite being the ones that destroyed him, yet Shearer is doomed to failure before he's even started. I hope he does well. I really admired him as a player, for us and Newcastle. That Newcastle team were doomed to failure by decisions made long before that season even started. It goes as far back as getting rid of Bobby Robson. Given time and the right backing, I hope he can prove himself. UPDATE Shearer has said he did go for an interview but was unsuccessful! ericofarabia Posted 15 June, 2011 Share Posted 15 June, 2011 I think it is a disgrace that Adkins name hasn't been chucked into the hat for any of the vacancys that have cropped up over the last few months - Villa, WHU, Brum, Cardiff, Forest etc and even of course Chelsea!! Has Nasty Nick issued a hands off if you value your gonads warning? Is NA holding out for his spiritual home of Liverpool to crop up? The papers have even gone cold on AOC, even though Man U and Arsenal are splashing (or are about to) the cash.
