I've been lucky enough to see a few of the ones mentioned so far but for me August 1969 beating United 4-1 at Old Trafford is right there...they had all the legends out, had won the European cup and we psst on them. I got punched outside too for being a p*ss-taking, gobby teenager too far away from our own supporters but nothing will ever detract from how good that day felt...still rub it in to my plastic mates along with wee Bobby's moment!

More recently being able to share a cup final win with my son at Wembley, fantastic day....Coventry last year felt like my feet weren't touching the pitch as I ran on like a kid, the noise at Camara's goal was the time when my ears physically hurt with the noise...the voice was knackered for weeks after.

The 3-0 against the skates was pretty special too :-) So many good times to counter the down 'moments'!

We must be about the same age with the same memories, Dronski. I was in the main stand, just behind the dugout, for the Ron Davies show in '69. The looks I got when I stood up to cheer 4 times......... Was at Wembley with the girlfriend (now the wife) in '76 and 34 years later with my son, and was on the pitch with him after Coventry. I bet you also remember the 9-3 against Wolves.

Corner of St Catherines Rd and Bond Rd

Thanks for the reply. Not the one I was thinking of.

Can I have another go?

Caught the early excursion train from Terminus Station to Hull for an FA Cup game. Must have been mid 60s. Took hours to get there and it was bitter cold and the fog was so bad, we were unable to see past the half way line. Yep, we lost.

some great memories and i was lucky enough to see them all' date=' but one that always stays with me was Chivers down the wing in the 88 minute against Charlton, cross Paine slides it home. we win 1 nil stayed on track for first ever promotion to top flight and the noise was biggest i ever heard at Dell[/quote']

One of the very few times I have ever left before the end of a match. I remember though the explosion of sound that accompanied the goal. One second a deafening silence, the next a roar the like of which I've never heard again. One funny thing, I remember turning to someone else that has also left early and said "Do you think Saints have scored?". Those were the days.

Most of mine have been mentioned but can't see this one anywhere, Elland Road March 72 when we lost 7 0 think most travelling fans went to the pub at ht when I think the score was 4 0 but I stayed to the end and watched some great football including the 40+ passes. Also George Best's first appearance at the Dell.

I was at most of the above, but the ones I would add are as follows.

Winning 1-0 at Anfield after being battered for 89 mins and scoring in the last minute.

Sporting Lisbon away in the UEFA cup, crap game but a good two day trip from Bournmeouth airport.

Anderlecht away, crap result, but got to see my dad legless and sea sick on the way home

Any trip to Sunderland with Clive Foley, leaving at midnight and travelling through the night.

Last game at Maine Road

Any game in 83/84 season, especially Sheff Wed away

Leeds away when we won 3-0 and Mark Wright came of age as a player

P****y away 1976, after the FA cup semi, when we beat them with those who were sober after the celebrations

West Brom away in the 1976 cup run.

When mark wright broke his leg at white hart lane.

When Heath scored in extra time at highbury.

When we played Liverpool in the home leg of the milk cup semi final, can't remember the year but it was 0-0 and the atmosphere was fantastic. Think we lost the away leg 3-0 though.

When camara scored v Norwich.

I've done a midnight to newcastle on his coaches but never sunderland.

Great times, sh it faced in the oriental then up to the polygon for the coach arriving roughly 7 am for a fry up, then pub crawl starting at 10 am.

But the less said about the police escort home all the way from newcastle the better.

Only did Sunderland, but remember one mid week game where we still left at midnight the previous day, and arrived in Sunderland 12 hours before kick off.

Usually did Newcastle by car, as the wife has family in Cramlington

one or two that I was at that haven't (I think ) been mentioned.

Luton away in 78. huge support and a late winner...knew we would do it after that.

First game in L1. Never really thought I would see that day...in at least 2 different ways !

Spurs at Home 1992. The first game in the PL. How little we knew about how the future would be for the English game.

bit recalcitrant about being put in a cage.

Anyone on here go to the 6-A-Side Tournament we won back in the early 70s?

I can't find anything about it but it was on telly and happened while I was at Eastleigh Tech, so 1971-73.

Possibly the Evening Standard was the sponsor.

Duncan's book doesn't seem to mention it, unless I'm looking in the wrong place and googling only brings up the 1983 final.

Went to an indoor tournament at Wembley some time or other, don't remember us winning it though; Steve Williams was in our team and that's about all I recall of it.

Hello again, Ron.

November 71. Daily Express 5 a side Champs.

That same Dad and I went. Our team was Eric Martin, Jimmy Gabriel, Terry Paine, Mick Channon and Bobby Stokes and IIRC Brian O'Neill in reserve. Think we beat West Ham in final.

We did the same with man city in midweek that season

i would never be able to afford it nowadys

Deepdale, 1 Nov 2008 - had been to see us get absolutely d1cked 3-0 at Swansea the week before, had been out for Hallowe'en the night before and copped off with a blonde beauty (who unsurprisingly turned out to be much less fit without the slutty get up), subsequent hangover from hell on matchday and still is easily the closest I've ever come to just sacking off a game altogether. Upon arriving in Preston I was then happier to wolf down a Maccys and miss the first few minutes, and then 2 down at half-time I was close to just sacking it off again and going home. Of course I stayed on, to then see the most unlikely 3-goal comeback inspired by Oscar Gobern you might ever see and it became my best 'I was there' moment, for me anyway at least. Just about the only good thing 1) I saw under the Dutch duo 2) thing I ever saw David McGoldrick do:

Good times :smug:

it was on Sportsnight with Coleman. We were allowed to stay up to watch it. (me and my older brother). We couldnt believe it 'Saints had won a trophy' as a 10 year old kid it was marvellous. if i remember correctly the programme finished before we could pick up the trophy. in those days there were no over-runs

Alot's already been mentioned - How about when saints played Vancouver White Caps at the Dell 1978'ish. I think they had Alan Ball a young Peter Beardsley and Bruce Grobbelaar playing for them.

Anyone know what the score was..?

11 Mar 80 .... we won 3-0 with Baker, Boyer and a recovering from alcholism Jimmy Greaves getting the goals.

pilfered from In That Number, not my beer deadened memory bank.

If I remember correctly we had a pretty useful player turn out for us that evening.

Jimmy Greaves no less.

And the whole "Shootout" one on one from the half way line.

Think we won it though

Marseilles Away = Rorkes Drift.

Absolute nightmare with little old Blue Rinse Ladies wielding brollies & flagsticks standing side by side with "the lads" as the hoardes came at us in the main stand during the game and the CRT just watched. The Riot Police charge, the Tear Gas and FINALLY some help from the local cops.

One of our bus stabbed, every window on our coach smashed and a gun pulled on our coach driver at a traffic signal on the way to the airport (which resembled a battle zone with fans on stretchers)

No, Enough said, it was a horrific night, has been many threads on it over the years

 Dude that was WAY before I discovered the mighty game.

Think they were actually hacked off by the 4-1 drubbing we handed out to them in the home leg - they thought they were nailed on certs to win the cup that year. Trouble kicked off within minutes of us getting into town from the airport and kept going all day long

(Mind you, now you mention it, The Ladies Golf finished today - did you see me on telly? I did wave..... Jeez, even Bearsy wouldn't go near the lass who won it)
