And herein lies the issue, there is an expectation of a higher level job because she has a degree. When I went into employment in 2006 I had to go in at a Junior level for a role I wasn't interest in, but I needed to get a job.

Nail ln head. Don’t want to start at the bottom these days. You wonder what sort of jobs they’re applying for. I bet none of them are entry level role, the fact the girl says rejected for no experience despite having a 2:1 just shows the arrogance and entitlement. If you’re that good get an entry level job and show how good you are. 
 

I can actually rely a personal experience of a nepo baby I know, got put into at £18k a year private school to help her get better A levels, got an internship after leaving 6th form at the company her dad was a director of. £32k a year working from home. Not happy, doesn’t like the job, it’s boring etc etc. doesn’t know she’s born

£32k is a very good wage for someone barely out of their teenage years. Took until my mid-late 20s to be earning that in my third post-uni role with experience and achievements from the first two.

She isn't, she 18 and only job she ever had was a Saturday shop assistant for 4 hours a week which she lasted about 3 months in. Like i said Nepo baby.

Devil's advocate... The article doesn't say what subject her degree was in. If it was Law, then she should hold on for the right job (although I doubt there would be 500 suitable jobs to apply for!). If it was media studies or some such nonsense then she's going to end up at McDonald's anyway so may as well get a head start!

On a similar note...

"We're sorry. We are experiencing a higher than normal volume of calls at the moment and there may be some delay in connecting you to an agent".

Literally every time I call one of these places.

Why can't they just be honest and say "Actually this is totally normal - we simply don't want to hire the required number of agents to be able to answer your call within a reasonable amount of time, so tough shit you'll just have to sit and listen to our interminable hold music on continuous repeat while you wait".

Left BT TV/internet last week having been a customer for about 15 years. Phoned them to see if I could get a better deal but they weren't interested in the slightest so switched to Sky.

Almost from the minute the switch was confirmed I have been getting calls from their retentions team about 4-5 times a day. They never leave a message but the one time I picked up to tell them to sod off, the line cut immediately.

If they couldn't be arsed to keep me as a customer and then made me go through the hassle of switching, I'm not sure what makes them think I'm going to waste hours of my life switching back again.

None of which is true - We've had them for over ten years now.

Not sure what restrictions you have. We can put all food remains in them, no one has ever checked and I doubt they would!

The bags are designed to decompose...

Yep, same here...moved to Devon 5 years ago and food waste recycling is standard practice here. We have a 'designer' container in the kitchen which we decant on a daily basis into the bigger/uglier outside container. I'm not a recycling fanatic, but collecting food waste in this way isn't a big deal. 

P.s. we use decomposable bags in our kitchen recepticle, bit it's also ok to use non-decomposable bags too (e.g. sliced bread bags) as they get separated at the recycling depot

All this time I've been "putting", " taking" or "tipping" out a bin, and I could have been "decanting" it. It's the first thread to increase my social status. 🙂

Simpler recycling : https://www.gov.uk/government/news/simpler-household-recycling-rules-come-into-force-across-england - but that specifically covers the number of containers that are allowed to be used and what should go in them.

For food recycling the rules are :

So @trousers - plastic bags are not allowed, unless they are compostable ;) 

The only real restriction is on oil and liquids, but small amounts of oil - i.e. what's left from cooking roast potatoes or fried eggs - can be poured in and soaked up by what's in the bin.  But surely people already have a way to dispose of this rather than pouring down the sink and blocking their own drains?

You West Country pussies are clearly more compliant than us free thinkers. I am thinking of organising an anti-brown bin march and rally at the weekend - do you think it is too ambitious to try and get Katie Hopkins and MLT to attend?

On the theme of ridiculous language we are now bombarded with, I phoned my GP surgery to book a vaccination and the answering service informed me that I would be connected to a "patient navigator".

It’s a good idea. It has been happening here for years. The waste goes to be composted and then used as fertiliser on the fields. More important than ever now that the amount of imported fertiliser is halted thanks to Trump’s war.
