Really unlucky that for the under 18s. Played some lovely football in normal time and then extra time, had the better chances too. Dibling and Amo-Ameyaw the standouts for me :)

Dibling and SAA both have loads of potential , will get some first team involvement soon especially in the FA Cup

Drew Surman coming home as an under 18s coach.

Played alongside Russell Martin at Norwich and for him at MKD, perhaps that is something to do with it as well. Would be good to see Surman back at his 'home' club.

well said Vectis.  It's good to have a few "old faces" back at the club.   Ollie Lancashire and Sam McQueen are already " in the Academy mix ."

although (like some others on here),  I'd love to see James Beattie on the staff at sometime, it would really make it feel like a "family club".

Sad that we "lost " Surman in 2009 when, on the point of bankruptcy, we had to sell Andrew to help keep the club solvent.

Employing former players who really have the club at heart is good and hopefully they can instill that feeling into a new generation.

Back in the early 1960's ...when Bill Shankly galvanised a rather mediocre LIverpool outfit into a European side to be reckoned with, in time

he installed some of his former team mates in various coaching roles at Anfield, and when Bill eventually retired.. it was an almost seamless

transfer over to those who came after him, and Liverpool won many titles and were almost unbeatable for 10 years.

(there was a joke around the time that  ...on a Saturday, the tea lady could select the team with no problem. )

Great to have Drew back as he never wanted to leave us as a player.

I know Surman personally. Was an incredible runner and could have gone into athletics. Has a lovely wife he's known forever and is incredibly clever acing all his exams. Add his experiences as a player and he's a superb role model for young players. It's a great choice.

Gomez Rodriguez back playing for the u18s then. Maybe deemed to be not quite ready for the u21s after his recent stint in that squad?

Most Valuable Player

Yeh, I sort of guessed that's what it meant. But what a meaningless award. Look forward to selling him for megabucks in the future based on the award. Perhps they could have called it "Player of the Tournament" or perhaps that would be too simple these days.
