sockeye Posted May 25 Posted May 25 Spurs 4-1 down at Brighton. 17th place with 38 points. Will Postecoglou be sacked? If it is to be so, it surely shows progress from the Spurs board, learning that they should wait until after a final to sack a manager instead of doing it before. 1
benjii Posted May 25 Posted May 25 BBD's attempted back-heel at Bournemouth was the final straw for me.
Osvaldorama Posted May 25 Posted May 25 Villa have been absolutely mugged Worst decision I can remember. I can’t believe they’ve missed out on CL football because the ref disallowed a goal for no reason. Bordering on corrupt that 2

badgerx16 Posted May 25 Posted May 25 If the ref awards a penalty VAR will check to see if he has made a mistake. Because the ref blew his whistle for a foul on the keeper, incorrectly, a split second before the Villa player scored, VAR cannot do anything to correct him. Why didn't the ref let play go on ? If it was a foul on the keeper VAR would have disallowed the goal and saved his blushes.
S-Clarke Posted May 25 Posted May 25 Has there ever been such a dull end of the season before? Title done in April, relegation done in December, runner up decided weeks ago. Just the little scrap for Champions League football which ended up exactly how people predicted it would anyway. Forest just inevitably fell away after making the most of the misfiring City/Chelsea for the majority of this season. Non-event of a season from a neutral point of view, dull as dishwater. Championship will be more entertaining at the very least. 2
Willo of Whiteley Posted May 25 Posted May 25 The Premier League has been dull for years. I’ve watched very little this season, maybe it’s because I’m a year older and other things in my life take priority or maybe it’s because it is unbearably boring. Oh yes, it’s because it’s unbearably boring. 😁 1
Gloucester Saint Posted May 25 Posted May 25 PGMOL getting hammered again, and with some justification again as well. It looked a shocker at the time https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cp85wj92yg8o Big ramifications for Villa and there were plenty of games today with nothing riding on them to give a young referee some PL experience in a big stadium.
Willo of Whiteley Posted May 26 Posted May 26 Villa didn’t turn up at Old Trafford today, there’s a few games where they’ve dropped points when they shouldn’t have. It doesn’t justify the error but I always find it funny how karma comes around. See Villa staying up over Sheffield United a few years back. Also is Emi Martinez, albeit a decent keeper, also equally overrated?

Also is Emi Martinez, albeit a decent keeper, also equally overrated? At St Mary's, Villa benefited from some of the most nakedly biased officials I have ever seen. This was just part of the evening out over the season. And as was pointed out by a caller on the radio, but for the failure of goal-line technology in Villa's favour against Sheffield United they would have been relegated in 2021 2

Toussaint Posted May 28 Posted May 28 Bettis look really impressive. As does Pellegrini at 71 years old. The co commentator is doing my head in though, she keeps saying Ezalzouli is “cheating” by playing high up the pitch??
Toussaint Posted May 28 Posted May 28 My main hope for the evening is that Cucurella kicks himself up the arse whilst scoring an own goal and his hair spontaneously combusts. 1

manji Posted May 28 Posted May 28 (edited) Which cup have Chelsea won ? There seems to be a lot of Cups. Even when the press say a certain cup is meaningless lots of celebrations. What cup is it tomorrow. I remember when you could sing "we won the cup" and it meant something.. Edited May 28 by manji
hypochondriac Posted May 28 Posted May 28 Quite a unique season where every major cup available to English clubs is won by a different team. 1

I know what you mean, but there were three Cups in Europe for many years, European Cup (for League Champions), Cup Winners Cup (FA Cup or equivalent), and then Fairs Cup/UEFA Cup. Arguably we've still got three competitions although the last two have been cheapened or diluted by opening up the first one to teams who aren't actually League Champions, but League Champions and 2-5 others from the same league. Al in the interest of tv and £££ of course. Reverse argument might be that it gives more lesser teams chance to compete. Wonderful if we ever get there and fancy a midweek trip to Kazakhstan.
