I was able to improve it a small amount and cut around it for the audio podcast, no idea what went wrong there though even the local recording was completely ruined. We also had some issues with Martin's feed, hope to have all that improved this weekend.

Yes the adverts (the bloke who does many of them has the most annoying voice) and Steve Grant's "umms" are 2 of the downsides to an otherwise excellent podcast .

It was a bit more nuanced than that really. Glen was also very fair to highlight that if your defenders can't contest and win some headers inside your own box, and your keeper keeps parrying onto onrushing forwards, then you're stuffed regardless

What will it take for any of you to actually question the ability of the manager?

the squad of players he has would be a delight for nearly every other club outside of the premier league. IE, about 70 teams.

he is failing and failing miserably, no one has an idea what we are doing, which is unforgivable to be fair given he has had the entire pre season and 10 games in.

Yet gets a pretty easy ride/free pass, from you guys (including a local journo). 

 

You have a great Podacst, and a must listen every Sunday/Monday morning

Lots of common sense and realistic views from the four podcasters who highlighted the good football we played and could see progress on the pitch. We all get the fact that we didn't convert even one of our numerous decent chances and they pointed this out as a frustration. We just need a little more composure and the goals should come because we are creating opportunities whilst looking fairly secure in defence.

Last nights podcast was excellent. Very level-headed and common sense than some of the reactionary few you get on here and social media.

Yesterday was a good performance, I think you have to look at it as we didn’t need the big money signings to dominate, we were very good.

Will Still didn’t do anything particularly wrong, the back five is frustrating, but you can’t deny we’re getting a tune out of players and creating lots of chances.

It’s purely the finishing that has let us down, that you can put down to the poor recruitment up front, not Will Still.

Alfie had a lot to say, and presumably even more that he felt he couldn’t say about the players and their attitudes. He must have more insight than most, and that is really worrying. Not that most of us aren’t worried already.

Good episode. The whole set up sounds incredibly chaotic and unprofessional, can’t remember who the poster is who slags off Parsons but he’ll have enjoyed those references. Total mess from top to bottom, earlier in my career I worked in some chaotic places before I reached leadership levels and had the power to sort them out and turn them around but SFC would be a stern challenge for anyone. 

Pretty clear Still’s brain is scrambled from the decisions topped off by subbing Scienza for Stephens and putting Jack who hadn’t played for 6 weeks in central midfield. Bragg without a shirt number, as Glen said total tinpot.

If we can’t rid ourselves of SR, and the fanbase has to give that a concerted go now, then it has to be new CEO, DoF, First Team manager and coaching line up from the UK and 100% independence from the SR board bar budget setting each summer.

I completely agree about management. After 3 or four years of mostly shambles and instability, it isn't unreasonable to cut the management a bit of slack. We all know from our own work that things can't necessarily  be transformed from chaos overnight.

 

But you can start with simple and achievable ( settled back 4/5, buying a half competent striker ) and go from there.

Now Charles is crocked you’d think some common sense has to kick in and Aribo be re-integrated. The squad was already light in CM and with Flynn Downes continuing to be gastro-germ central even SR surely aren’t going to carry on punching their own face. Edozie should be in front of Fraser as well.

I think it’s win or bust for Still - bust it is. He’s wedded himself Juric-like to 5 at the back and with the midfield being depleted with Charles injury that spells major trouble.

The only thing I can say in his favour is that he stuck two fingers up at Rasmus and rightly dropped the hapless Bazunu. McCarthy isn’t great and making mistakes but he’s still like Gordon Banks by comparison.

The atmosphere and situation for the players is almost certainly very cosy, from the fans but also at the club where they'll still be treated like deities of some kind.  Not that it is easy to avoid being like this as the players have become used to being treated like little princes, and wouldn't adapt to an environment with higher expectations on them to not be so entitled and earn their millionaire lifestyle.  This is all about the character and on paper, players may be able to play football, but for years, there has been a problem with our players attitude towards just being good at their job.  Where's the desire to win and show up?  The manager has responsibility to a degree but the players are letting themselves down consistently. That's endemic and Will Still leaving isn't going to change that situation.

Agree with this post to a large extent. Still has made some obvious decisions in spite of SR eg dropping Bazunu and Stephens, two of their favourite sons. But it needs some more experienced who will go further and give the likes of Sesay a chance, bring Robinson back in and build around the few senior players who do give a shit. Put the two u23 forwards in ahead of Archer. Aribo needs to be brought back in and Edozie must be a better option than Fraser.

A manager who will toss the SR boardroom politics in the bin publically would buy a lot more time with the fanbase and actually even though SR would hate it, it’s what they need as well. Decisions made 100% on who is training best and applying themselves fully week, not future value, re-sell or a reluctance to write off investments with contracts winding down. If Bazunu and Smallbone are out of contract, so what?

A new keeper in January and centre forward, and we should at least stay up. But will take a seasoned figure to cut through SR’s nonsense and outplay them in the Uk media.

Think they’ve all been more than fair with Still. Glen especially saying the players are shit, but this squad is full of players who’ve been great at this level. Under Still they’re all as bad as they’ve ever been

Excellent episode again that. I would say there was the right balance of Will Still criticism, he’s made mistakes but he’s been let down by the board and hugely by the players!
