mikee Posted 18 September, 2025 Posted 18 September, 2025 There was one particular tackle where he just positioned himself in front of the oppo player to win the ball - gave me Morgan Schneiderlin vibes! 3

Downes and Charles together just seem to slow everything down to a standstill. Out of the two, I much prefer Charles, at the moment. I have taken against Downes for being a perennial, sickly, whinger. Edited 18 September, 2025 by lambtiss 5

Toadhall Saint Posted 25 November, 2025 Posted 25 November, 2025 Quality from the first time he touched the ball you could see he was a bit good.
saintant Posted 25 November, 2025 Posted 25 November, 2025 For me he is our best signing. He's the vital cog, the metronome, the conductor. We've missed this type of player for so long and he'll no doubt soon be on the radar of bigger clubs. 2
RedArmy Posted 25 November, 2025 Posted 25 November, 2025 (edited) He is class. With Charles to come back, Romeu to come into the mix and Bragg showing he’s worthy of minutes it is time to move Downes on in January because it’ll be tough for him to get minutes over those above and his style of play doesn’t really suit the way we play if we’re going to continue to be direct with the ball. Edited 25 November, 2025 by RedArmy 3
S-Clarke Posted 26 November, 2025 Posted 26 November, 2025 He was always class, got bogged down a bit in the later days of Stills tenure - but even his short cameos right at the start, even against the Skates, you can see his has agility on the ball and a real knack of arriving in and around the box. He's an upgrade on Will Smallbone and Downes in one player, him and Romeu could strike up something pretty special. What a player to learn from. 3
benjii Posted 26 November, 2025 Posted 26 November, 2025 Good job he missed that sitter against Swansea, or we might still have Still. 1
Dusic Posted 26 November, 2025 Posted 26 November, 2025 Worth trying to add a year to his contract already. 1
Spoonman Posted 26 November, 2025 Posted 26 November, 2025 Let’s appreciate him while we can, this lad has bags of potential
Convict Colony Posted 26 November, 2025 Posted 26 November, 2025 Posted in match thread but... Jander is elite and chasing a man down and recovering the ball from behind him and then using his body to shield the ball as he gets up and gets us going forward again 6
saintant Posted 8 December, 2025 Posted 8 December, 2025 This guy gets better and better. He does everything well and with efficiency. Others may get the plaudits but Caspar is the one who makes the team tick. 3

Jander Leo Fellows Azaz Those 4 have lifted the level of the team in key areas. There are still a couple of oddities in our transfers from the summer, but that's not really unusual. No team ever gets it right 100%, but for the first time I can remember we've got it right more than we've got it wrong. Positives to cling to, maybe. 6

Yes and much credit to Tonda for the way he's set us up to get the maximum out of our flair players. I always believed they would prove good signings but it's taken a new coach to assess how they should be utilised and to make things tick. The football recently is some of the best we've produced in ages. Because things have been so bad it is hard to make yourself believe it's not going to suddenly go pear shaped again but I'm beginning to let my guard down and hope we are truly at the start of a golden period under Eckert.

Just think the 4 players mentioned have added quite a lot to the team's performance albeit at Championship level. The money from the Dibling deal has more or less paid for the players although the combined wage cost of the 4 newcomers will be significantly more than Dibling was paid. Much as though I was sad to see young Dibling go, he would not have added any where near as much to the team as have the aforementioned players.
chiknsmack Posted yesterday at 18:24 Posted yesterday at 18:24 Immense today. I thought we might be able to keep him even if we don't go up, but not after that on the big stage.
sfc4prem Posted yesterday at 18:25 Posted yesterday at 18:25 Brilliant at winning the ball back and making forward runs and passes. So important to our attacks in those situations. A momentum changer.
RedArmy Posted yesterday at 18:27 Posted yesterday at 18:27 Hard to believe it’s the same man that played as bad as he did in that first half at Leicester. Phenomenal today. 2
Saint NL Posted yesterday at 18:39 Posted yesterday at 18:39 One of the best players on the pitch today, happy for him 3
benjii Posted yesterday at 18:40 Posted yesterday at 18:40 Absolutely brilliant performance. Let's hope we haven't emptied the tank too much for Tuesday. 2
saintant Posted yesterday at 18:51 Posted yesterday at 18:51 (edited) Liked him from his first games and today he proved he belongs at as high a level as he wants. He was simply immense. He's in the shop window for sure and, if we can't keep him, we should be demanding top dollar - he's added to his value today. Edited yesterday at 18:56 by saintant 1
Turkish Posted yesterday at 19:13 Posted yesterday at 19:13 Yep he was excellent. I think he might have got himself a big move in the summer if we don’t go up. Bragg was good too 2
JohnnyShearer2.0 Posted yesterday at 19:30 Posted yesterday at 19:30 Was great today. Definitely improved over the season. Can see teams eye him up easy as others have said. 1
Osvaldorama Posted yesterday at 19:50 Posted yesterday at 19:50 Just came here to echo everyone’s thoughts. E and Bragg were outstanding first half. Thought they did so well 1
HarvSFC Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago Other than the Leicester away game, he's been the perfect replacement for Fernandes and plays at a similar level. He was the driving force in our comeback against Derby and felt that he was what we missed in the middle against Bristol City in midweek, given his ability to win the ball back and get us up the pitch quickly. If we don't go up then there's no chance that we keep hold of him, but another example that there is actually a scouting team at the club now, picking up these lesser known players who excel here, like Scienza. After years of signing lesser known players and the reason they're not well known is they're playing two levels below where we were currently. 1

Without Downes, I thought we'd struggle in the midfield, but Jandar was brilliant. 1
Convict Colony Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago Ally Mccoist raving about him and thought he should get man of the match. 1
ally_uk Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Always have rated him, think he is class. Can't see him being here long in all honesty once the big boys start circling.
saintant Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago He rarely missed a tackle, block or interception yesterday and was instrumental in our goal. Phenomenal performance from start to finish. One of the best midfield displays I've ever seen from a Saints player which is some tribute because we've had many great ones in his position. 6
Swaythling Saint Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Brilliant yesterday (as he has been in other games this season), would love to hold on to him as long as we can - though seems like a lot of our players depends on promotion this season!
S-Clarke Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago He was great, MOTM for me. All over the pitch, his stuff off the ball was just as important as his wins in transition. He certainly tired in the last 20, you could visibly see him looking a bit heavy on his legs, but he gave everything. He's a Top League CM now, that's for sure. 2
EssEffCee Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago He was outstanding yesterday. Can see why he's attracting a lot of attention.
AlexLaw76 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago He is a very good player Will probably be one of the couple we will have to sell if we don't go up
saintant Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Just watched Chelsea beat Leeds. We raved about Lavia when he was here but he's not in Janders class plus he can only ever play 60 minutes.
saintwbu Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago For all that they’ve got wrong, Sport Republic do seem to have an eye for a good central midfielder; Lavia, Alcaraz, Fernandes and now Jander.
SNSUN Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago The most annoying thing about the second half of this season is knowing that now we've clicked and are playing excellent football, if we don't go up we lose players like Jander, THB, Scienza etc and have to start again. Give us another Championship season with Tonda and the current line up, with a couple of positions strengthened and Peretz and Larin on board and we'd be dead certs for 1st place next season. I really hope we go up even if it's through the play-offs so we can keep the team together and really try to make a dent in the Prem. 1
saintant Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago With the transfer fees we got for Dibling and Fernandes you wonder what Jander is worth in today's market. Not that I'd want us to sell him but he'll likely go in the summer if we don't get promoted.

Yeah, going up is so important now if we want to build on this team and momentum. Fail in the playoffs and we lose half our starting eleven, and probably Tonda as well... next season in the Championship will be another restart.

It would have to be to a Premier League club surely, not sure his stock would be high enough for Bundesliga. Would an PL club go for him? I don’t see it. Also in his interests to build his CV with us and stick a promotion on there.
