He actually died later in a house just across the road which you can also visit. He was too big for the bed so they had to lie him across it diagonally

We were discussing this the other day and came to the same conclusion. If only fools ended after series 1, would it have had the same impact as fawlty towers? I doubt it.

Some series were just the  perfect length , Fawlty being one, The Office, Phoenix Nights, whereas others go on too long. As good as those 3 were it does take something incredibly special to go on and on, but not become boring. Only Fools & Fraiser are 2 where superb writing meant it didn’t really reach the end of the road. I’m not so sure that you could put Basil or Brian Potter in too many more situations without them becoming less funny, whereas they did seem to manage it with Trotter. Probably down to the strength of so many of the supporting characters.

Not sure if it really qualifies as a series, but all of the Michael Palin Travel programs he made. Absolutely brilliant presenter.

The Peaky Blinders film comes out next month. One of the best TV series ever, wonder how it’ll translate into a film? I hope they don’t rinse it now and carry it on after Tommy Shelby, most series that are excellent know when it’s time to stop.

For me the Patrick Stewart ‘clothes off’ scene was the absolute peak. I’ve seen the outtakes where they had to do about six takes because Gervais just kept bursting out laughing.

I think Peaky Blinders went on long enough, and I'm surprised they've done a film. Breaking Bad was amazing, but the film spin off was a bit average. Hopefully the Peaky Blinders spin off is a level up from that.
