Hi People,

just a random.
my Dad,supported Saints since the early 70’s.
from the moment he took me me to the games it was incredible.
he built me a little red and white striped wooden box that I could take into the family end at the Dell.
we had season tickets in various areas in the Dell for years.
he’d pull me out of school citing I had the dentist,to travel to Leeds,Preston,Manchester and so many away games. Snow, rain or shine.

probably not the best parenting but I loved it.
Scarfs out the window.
stopping for fish and chips on the way back.
he’s been going since his last step possible. Even got disabled parking at the stadium to get to a game.
he passed last Monday. I promised him I’ll  post something for his beloved saints fans.
his funeral is 27th January. Mum,me and his Grandson,my Son, will wear our scarfs.
And the last tune he will hear is ‘when the saints go marching in’

sorry for the soppy shite.
but I promised.

Not soppiness brother.

You felt deep for your Dad and that is a good thing.

Sorry for your loss.  He would at least be smiling today.

Tell him to site next to my best mate, Reg, he'll look after him in heaven, with real saints playing.

Sad news but lovely father and son memories. So sorry for your loss and hope we win for him today.

My heartfelt commiserations my friend.

I have a season ticket in Block 10 Itchen and have lost three of the group of us who made the transition from the The Dell, East Stand.

My thoughts are often with them as your thoughts will always be there with your Dad as mine are with my Dad who first took me to watch Saints in the Third Division.

RIP. Sorry for your loss.

i still get emotional every time I head in to st Mary’s as it always gets me thinking of my grandad. Football & family go hand in hand. Not soppy at all.

Really sorry to hear that. Cherish all those memories that you’ll share with your son. My dad passed away in October and he too was a Saints fan from the 1970s. My son is too young to take up the mantle but will have no choice in a few years! Wishing you the best in a tough time.

All the lives he left his mark upon will be his legacy. You and your son will be that in continuation. He was and will always be proud of you, mate. Marching in.

Sincere condolences - losing your parents is something you never quite recover entirely from…like a tangible part of you has been lost. But I have to say, he’d be proud of you posting that eulogy.

I love what you shared. Sounds like a true legend.

RIP sir.

I think I would've enjoyed a pint with you.

So sorry for your sad loss.

Going to the match as multi-generational family members is something that will live with you all forever. Enjoy every moment of your future matches with your son. There's nothing else like it.
