If Derby offer £3m, would you turn it down then?

If we can sell him we will and should but that's not the point i was making. People keep saying we're relying on him and going to give him a go, like there is no one else. Archer, Larin, Fellows, Dobbin, Scienza, Matuzki are all ahead of him in the pecking order right now, he's literally fighting it out with Downs or Edozie for a place on the bench. Its not like we've suddenly decided he's going to be our 20 goal a season striker. If he does prove to be better than the other 7 ahead or alongside him, good for him.

As good as he is on his day, wouldn’t have wanted to give Stewart a 3 year deal, he’s made of glass. He barely played for us, let’s be honest.

Hope that Spors and co have something lined up, especially since Alfie House said that, after missing out on Lankshear, our primary target was to bring back Stewart. If we go for Jebbison I’ll be pretty disappointed.

To be honest, if it’s to be Jebbison I think I’d rather we went for Azon from Como.

I thought Larin was a clown signing...that was widely wrong, but the striker before that was Downs....

50/50 is generous. Larin is the only striker that’s been remotely competent. Before Downs we had BBD, Archer, Mara…

I don't know too much about either but Jebbison at least has a better physical profile and doesn't miss as much as Azon does.  Everything I've heard about Azon suggests hard worker, not really technical, definitely not prolific, not that tall, and not that quick and I think well we've already got that with BBD.

International striker, proven championship goal scorer, scored in the premier league and has that all important quality of being young, hungry and therefore guarenteed to improve. What's not to like?

We have a stronger squad currently than the one that just went 21 league games unbeaten, knocked the English champions out of the cup, and nearly dumped Man City's "galacticos" out of the fa cup semi final at wembley (only really losing to a deflected outside of the box bouncing shot deep into the game...

Yeah, but what good is that if we can't spy on the opposition any more...? ;)

Me too. I know people were not that excited by the Azon link but from the descriptions of how he plays and contributes to the team, he does at least sound like the kind of striker we need with physical strength and hold up play. I think our strategy is to get a decent spread of goals around the team and the signing of Dobbin helps that, alongside the likes of Azaz and Scienza (if we keep them). So, it's just as important the new man links up well with those other scorers in the team as it is that he scores regularly himself in my opinion (although someone who can do both well is the ideal of course, although that will come at a cost!)

Great name.

If we sign him, I will support him. I'm looking forward to backing my man Ure.

Then we would need a replacement, even if Leo is staying. The sort of signing Dobbin was behind Azaz for attacking midfield that will add enough quality if he's out for whatever reason. Not that I think Edozie is a bad player, I just think he had a bit of a rough ride here. He probably does need a fresh start.

We've got Archer and BBD who can play on theleft ;)

Not sure I'd like to see him playing against us in the championship.  You just know he'd play a blinder.

£9M was the figure in the media. Looks like a good buy at that price, although has only done it for it seems half a season in Sweden. But prefer him to Jebbison.

Not if it were only a loan.

But agree, would prefer he went to Germany or Holland.

On balance though I'd be inclined to keep him.

You lot are making out BBD Is going to be our only striking option and we're going to be depending on him only. He's probably 3rd or 4th choice in all 3 attacking roles, it's not like hes going to be starting every game and playing 90 minutes every week because the club have gambled completely on him. Although he's lost his way since joining us was decent at Blackburn and Sheffield United didn't do badly last season at Derby.  If he wants to stay under those terms and prove to Tonda he's better than that then that can only be a good thing.

I think the problem with him he needs to play regularly and doesn’t make an impact when used in sub role. We’ve seen this before. I think as you say he will only be 3 or 4th choice and therefore unlikely to make the necessary impact to get a better role

I actually wrote somewhere on this forum that I wanted to sign the big lad from Preston back in June. So I’d be delighted with it.

Watched the champions league final with Schumacher ( Bolton gaffer ) and didn’t know much about the lad and said Preston big lad is best I’d seen against us last season and he filled me in all about him and how he thinks he’ll have a good career.  So interesting that he’s now being touted. I think it would be a coup to get him.

Concern for me is the lack of goals when the aim is autos. His record is pretty patchy. But, on the flip side, he’s only 22 and broke into first team football super early. Feels like he’s been around forever.

We're not spending 39 million on a player.

Just out of interest, why would you prefer Azon if it's lack of goals you're concerned about?  Azon scored pretty much the same as Jebbison but had way more chances and has never been prolific anywhere he's been.

I think he’d get goals for other players. Dobbin, Azaz, Scienza etc etc.  I think he’d occupy defenders as well as Larin and he’d certainly score more for a better team.  I’ve watched him once and I thought he gave THB the toughest game all second part of the season when I went every week.

Similar player from what I’ve seen I’d be happy with either. Think Jebbison ceiling is higher. Bournemouth aren’t getting many parts of their recruitment wrong currently.

Can't believe there is anything in that. Not what we need at all.

Young, never heard of him & plays in Germany.

Almost certain to be true.

I don't know that they're that similar, Jebbison is a fair bit taller and much quicker.  Neither have really scored a huge amount though.  This is why I was hoping we'd get Stewart back demonstrates the sort of market we're looking at in terms of getting a replacement in.  I doubt either will score more than Stewart.

How are you ascertaining that Azon had way more chances? My understanding is that Azon was largely a bench player for Ipswich but became increasingly important during the run in. Their fans also seemed to like a lot about him. Jebbison’s numbers concerned me as it seemed like he was a starter for PNE but only managed 6. Happy to be corrected though.

Yeah, his xG was double the amount he actually scored whereas Jebbison has an xG roughly the same amount as he did score so, if stats are your thing, then Jebbsion is the more clinical of the two.  I think I read that Azon missed more big chances than anyone else in the league last season.
