Maybe they should have hammered it home when Bielsa proudly admitted spying on every team in the division. And before anyone says he didn’t break any rules, he broke the one about clubs behaving towards each other and the league in utmost good faith. Charlie Austin has had an issue with the club since leaving because he was fucking shite. He’s a thick twat. 3

Still remember his celebrations against us when playing for Swindon.

Austin was found guilty of assault in 2013 after he punched a man who had accused him of taking drugs in a Swindon nightclub toilet cubicle.[77] He was fined £1,801 and ordered to pay £1,320 in costs.[77][78]

EFL is in 15 days, but Colchester in only 8 days away! Hope we also take this game seriously, a) because I'm convinced our winning cup run and that reinforcement of the winning mentality helped us in the league last season and b) I'm going! Of all the rumours, a touchline ban makes the most sense. A fine and we just up his wages to cover it.

Imagine the reaction from our North eastern admirers if he does get an 8-10game touchline ban, we have the audacity to go against their wishes and don't sack him, and then we charge into the playoffs again over the second half of the season and get promoted 😄 Getting promoted via Wembley is the best way to go up anyway 😌 Edited 1 hour ago by Saint86

In fairness to MB, I reckon there was a lot of very strong view points flying around behind the scenes back then, and at one point most of the fanbase had turned on Eckert. Credit to the brave few on here that stood up for him and started to turn the tide I say 😌 1

sandwichsaint Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago 4-6 game ban ‘fair’ 7-10 games harsh more than 10 games, absolutely ridiculous. Considering the club has already been hugely whacked I’m hoping for four games. 1

You'd hope so but given the hammering we got as a club maybe they will see this as the precedent that is set and absolutely go in on Tonda too. Lets face it they hammer the smaller clubs with points deductions for other things whilst the big clubs do what they want so there is a precedent here already, albeit not for this specific "crime"

No, spying on other clubs within 72 hours of an upcoming match against them wasn't a specific offence at that time. Bielsa and Leeds were charged with not treating other clubs respectfully. Here is a case of specific misconduct and bringing the game into disrepute.

sadoldgit Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago (edited) 4 hours ago, Fabrice29 said: Baffling anyone still thinks any of this is a defence. Especially when clearly spelling out the rule we’ve broken yourself 😂 The biggest factor here is that every club has access to every game that the opposition plays. How many clubs change the way they play all of the time? How many new fangled set pieces do they use? Every man and his dog knew exactly how Russell Martin’s team would be set up and play without looking at a training session 72 hours before a match. Everyone knows what a team is going to be an hour before the game. As has been said a hundred times, the EFL are the only league management organisation who have this rule. Why? Because it is a load of bollox and they reacted badly to a previous Spygate episode. Why do it then? All I can imagine is that Eckert is on the spectrum and has an obsession with detail that goes beyond what most of us would consider reasonable. To state the obvious, matches last for 90 minutes plus. If you can’t work out how to beat the opposition as the game develops then perhaps coaching isn’t for you. The kicker for me is the number of sensible seasoned pros who have come and said that this really isn’t a big deal. It really isn’t and if it was it would be banned world wide and this probably would never have happened. Edited 1 hour ago by sadoldgit 1

That was an EFL rule that was brought in after the Bielsa incident and is what the club was sanctioned under. The FA rule regarding disrepute and misconduct has been in place for over 20 years now and this is what Tonda Eckert is being charged under. Bielsa received (I believe) a fine & a warning sona precedent has indeed been set
TheSoundman Posted 57 minutes ago Posted 57 minutes ago Arguably (puts tin hat on), Eckert's breach is worse than Bielsa's. The FA are charging TE with disrepute and misconduct. Eckert 'knowingly breached an EFL rule that was in place, Bielsa didn't breach any rules because there weren't any. On that basis you could easily argue for a stronger punishment for TE (if you wanted to).
