"We are two points from safety with three games to go and we still have Nottingham Forest to play so it is in our own hands. Three wins will keep us up."

Mark Wotte after todays game

Even if we win all three games we can still go down. If everyone from 21st upwards get more than 53 points we are down even if we win all 3. It makes no difference with the Forest game because they are in the bottom 3 anyway with us at the moment.

You'd think he would know this :D

Yes I think 3 wins will keep us up too

Well once ever the optimist but I have a pessimistic view that if we manage to stay up the FA will find away of docking us just the right amount of points to mess us up.

Still good victory today but we really need to improve for the last 3 games.

I'm inclined to agree but let's make sure they feel compelled to levy the charge this season or next season with us in the Champ. If they bring it next season in League One we're in serious poop.

Nothing wrong with our manager wanting to keep spirits up though is there?

Rather that than him saying 'well we're ****ed let's give up hope'

Yes, keep up spirits, but saying something obviously wrong makes the crew think "he's just wrong". That's counterproductive.

But he is factually incorrect. That was my point. It is not in our own hands as we can get 9 points and still go down. Thus it is out of our hands and dependant on other results going our way!

We are 2 points off 3 teams, 3 wins will keep us up, you can have my personal guarantee on that.

Doubt we will get them tho.

Yes, I did get your point, but he is trying his best to big us up for the last three games.

I have no problem with him massaging the facts to keep up team spirit.

Apart from the fact that we are unlikely to need 9 points to stay up.

Even though we probably won't get them, or stay up.

I am sure that our fate will eventually be decided by 2 factors,

the 10 points we get docked by the football league and if by some miracle

they agree that our jiggery pokery is better than Luton,Leeds,Bournemouth etc,

I believe we will sincerely regret not having beaten Charlton at home.

We will look back and say "that was the day we failed to survive".

And the draws against Derby & QPR.

How does that make sense? If we don't get 3 wins, the league will have no influence on it as we'll already be down. We have to stay up then it's down to the league if they want to rewrite their rules under pressure from other clubs.

If we get more points than 3 teams, we deserve to stay up and they deserve to go down. The league would be in no position to relegate us and would face a large court case if they did.

The League is the property of The Football League and its members so the Football League have all the "influence" in the world as to whether we stay up or go down.

They could kick us out of the league completely if they want.

At the end of the day, in their terms we've "cheated" by going into admin - lots of clubs have gone into admin and been punished, and we'll be punished.

Our best bet is stay up and get away with it.

Second best is stay up on points and get 10 points docked and down.

Worst, and by far most likely, is down anyway and 10 points next season.

If they don't dock us and we stay up they could face "a large court case" from Forest, Norwich and/or Barnsley as well as any other club showing support - Leeds, Luton, Rotherham, Bournemouth. Being the league is a members club, there will be more members against us "cheating" than for us "cheating".

The precendent has been set that going into admin is "cheating" (not my view). We have "cheated" and we will be punished.

This "holding company" guff is weasily bravado from Lowe and co thinking they are clever and have outwitted the league, which has probably ****ed them off even more.

We haven't got a hope of avoiding penalty.

The League is a members club and will do what the hell they want.

I've just done that predictor thingy and have us down with Charlton and Barnsley on goal difference, assuming we lose on the last day at Forest. Which we will. Oh dear. Forest will be well out of it.

whilts I dont disagree with your analysis, but have they not just done it?

Sorry if this is thr wrong place for this.

Can someone explain to me why the media are saying that Charlton (currently on 34 points) are NOT yet mathematically relegated? They are 12 points from safety with 12 points to play for. So yes, if Saints, Barnsley and Forest fail to surpass 46 points, AND Chalton somehow claw back the GD, they would stay up. But we play forest in our last game. Those points have to go somewhere.

Am I missing something, or is it just lazy journos not checking details?

They could finish above Norwich, Barnsley and saints or forest and then stay up.

Does anyone think that two wins and a draw from our last three (giving us 51 points) will be enough to keep us up? I just did the BBC predictor with us only getting 50 points and being relegated below Barnsley on goal difference
