Manager 'rumour'

Iam forwarding what i heard last night in Bournemouth. The information has come from someone having no connection with anybody at SFC but someone who is connected in football circles. This will only happen if one particular consortium gets the club and so they have to win the bidding for this to happen.

He has been mentioned loads of times on here and seen at the club for months now.He lives in Christchurch .

Steve Cotterill.

Dont shoot the messenger. Iam very confident of the person who told me and has no need to lie.

Yes I know it is - I misread the OP and now have an omelette on my face big stylee

But Steve Coppell would be OK wouldn't he :D

Well there is rumours that he is about to call it a day at Reading. May be our new DoF? ;)

Just an observation so probably best not to get your hopes up too much but he sat at the back of the 'away' section in the directors box. He was with someone (don't know who) and stayed there during half time (most retreat into the hospitality area).

Cotterill was sacked by Burnley despite a good start.

Mixed record, unsure about him. Could do worse though.

Didn't Burnley go something like 20 games without a win with him as manager ? That kind of run would cost most managers their jobs. Just ask Chris Nicholl.

product of our youth system

learnt management trade in non-league with Bath - 4 promotions in 5 seasons

his side plays attractive football

losing in play off final in first season at Exeter

won plays off in 2nd season - despite having to sell many players

in play off position in his 3rd season

definately on the way up, no failure/sacking baggage like most managers

just realised the sky sports list was before much of this good season. Certainly would make me interested and optimistic - tempted to start a thread on him!

Ex Saints player, who knows? Even if he gets Exeter promoted I'd be willing to bet that he'd take the Saints job if offered it. As was posted the other day, with all due respect to Exeter, a Southampton with new owners/money in league 1 are a better & bigger prospect than Exeter in the same league.

Good shout, I'd add him to the list. Team Bath are the university side so he'll have plenty of experience dealing with the youngsters.

Nice to see Jim Gannon in the Sky list. He's done very well on a budget of next to nothing. If not those two and an outsider, Stuart Baxter is looking for a challenge in nglish football.

Paul Ince would be good. OK he didn't do too well in the Prem but at MK Dons he was spot on. He has proved himself at the lower leagues.

Sorry but I get fed up with this crap about Ince at MK.The team was largely built by Martin Allen.

Done!

I don't want a big name Manager, it's going to be hard enough to get out of this division without a penalty and the oppostion will love playing against us (a "big" club). We need a Manager who understands what it's like to play in the lower leagues and has the nous to get us to the top of the table.

Paul Ince is a t*sser! I'd rather have Jamie Redknapp. In fact, you do wonder when Harry speaks out (fair play to him) is he grooming him for football management?!

Coppell wouldn't come to us I doubt, Cotterill wouldn't be a bad choice. We have to remember, it's League One, physical brute season 2010. Maybe we should bring back Sir Clive who could attract some big rugby players?! Kids pretty passing would result in sporting murder (and the remnants of our Dutch demise needs to be eradicated)

Are you talking about Cotterill or Coppell? If Cotterill it could be because he was previously manager of Burnley, the away team :)

I've been advocating Cotterill for a long time now (while Burley was still here), his local connections and his abilities in the League (as opposed to the Prem) are well documented. Is probably about the best realistic option unless we have loads of money.

As i said it was only if the party who rated him got the bid accepted.I got the impression the people who would install him are not that flush with funds.I hope it would be somebody with good resources who win the day

I'd like Paul Ince as manager :)

who apart from 21 games and sacking with Blackburn managed at the same level as Tisdale?;)

Ince would be expensive and therefore I agree shows some intent for us to rise to a higher level

if we have a flashy new chairman with money lets go bold and get in Alan Irvine, especially if Preston dont make the playoffs.

Can't see us poaching anyone from a higher division. An ex Premiership or Championship manager that has been out of work for a while, possibly but not one currently in employment. If we were to poach a manager, they would, at best, be in the same division or lower. I think Tisdale would probably do a decent job but I also wonder whether he has the profile to attract decent players here or get the respect of the ones already here, who stay. On another thread I mentioned Ronnie Moore and I would still like to see someone of his ilk brought in.
