saint lard Posted 21 May, 2009 Share Posted 21 May, 2009 Poll Please,if at all deemed worth it. With all the conjecture and opinions being banded about, and sometimes the usual sniping, are we going to have someone come in and breath new life into SFC or are we just going to cease to exist. This saga has been running for sometime now and it quite possibly may have many twists and turns yet too come. But at this moment... YES, we will survive? NO, the end of SFC,as we know it? For what it's worth,i truly believe we will get that deal,what/who the deal is, well thats the $64M question.........

Rob the Saint Posted 21 May, 2009 Share Posted 21 May, 2009 Personally the bank and Aviva will want something rather than nothing surely ? I am just wondering whether it's those 2 parties that are controlling the level of the deal and administrators are just acting as agents. Just a thought... chi saint Posted 21 May, 2009 Share Posted 21 May, 2009 I can't see any reason why we won't..eventually..be taken over. I am not that clued up about administration etc but it seems simple. Fry is under a lawful obligation to achieve the best price for the creditors. Now what that price ends up as is surely down to market forces, i.e. how many are interested and what price ultimately can be acheived. The options are surely - 1. No one makes an offer which I think is unlikely and from reports has already occurred. In which case I presume liquidation follows and a fire sale of assets takes place. 2. That any offer is not acceptable to creditors, in terms of the amount offered, which again will mean a liquidation and sale of assets. 3. Surely the most likely scenario is that the highest bidder wins. Now that might not be anywhere near the reported 14 - 15 mil being sought but I would have thought creditors would rather have something rather than nothing. In which case Fry would have done his job and fulfilled his legal obligation. I may completely wide of the mark with my theory and if I am i'm sure someone will put me right! hugh Posted 21 May, 2009 Share Posted 21 May, 2009 The natural pessimist in me, forged over the last few years of continual disappointment, says that there will be no takeover, but everything will be broken up. If we manage to rescue something like a football club out of that, then I will feel we have done well.
scotty Posted 21 May, 2009 Share Posted 21 May, 2009 This is monumentally depressing, and all that keeps springing to my mind is, we were too good to drop out of the prem. But we did. We were odds-on favourites to go straight back up. And we didnt. We couldn't even contemplate dropping out of the Championship, but we managed to do it, and as if that weren't bad enough, with the Royal flush of a 10-point deduction. Now we're all assuming that Saints are too big a club not to be bought out of admin, notwithstanding the financial hurricane currently f*cking the global economy, and I'm starting to wonder whether the emperor actually has any clothes:(

That surely must apply to nearly everyone who has posted a reply to this somewhat pointless poll - myself included. Have you read the question properly? Do you think a "takeover "will happen To Save SFC from obscurity. YES or NO. Simple as.An opinion is all that is required,no more no less. None of us,well maybe some of a select few, actually know what the outcome will be,who/when etc. It's not about knowing it will happen but do you THINK it will happen. Sorry chap, didn't think it was so unprecise.

redkeith Posted 22 May, 2009 Share Posted 22 May, 2009 There has been talk about the assets on other threads, but if you look at them all, there is no way that it is in the creditors interest to let the club fold. 1) Stadium, only of real value if someone else wants to use it ( Eastleigh, a rugby club or some American buys the Skates and decides to move them to better facilities like the LA Rams did) . 2) Staplewood - again only of real value if another sports team wants it( £2 Mil). 3) Acadamey Hostel, can be sold as housing, B&B etc( £1 mill) . 4) The playing staff - Can only be sold if the club is still going, otherwise they all walk (£3 - 5 Million) 5) The Golden Share and the 'goodwill' of the supporters, again only of value if the club keeps going, worth at least £3 million a year if as few as 7,000 people still turn up every week. The players and the goodwill are the most valuable assets, and any sensbile creditor would see that. Having said that, our biggest creditors are Financial Institutions, who thought it was safe to give a mortgage to Earl and Randy Hicky and then sell it on to each other. St Marco Posted 22 May, 2009 Share Posted 22 May, 2009 We will get bought out eventually. Having worked in business along time i have seen some of the most ill run companies destined for the scrap heap still get bought out. One man's crap is another man's gold and all that. However we are unlucky in that we are in a bad recession right now. If this was a few years ago then things would of been different. So i think we will be sold eventually just it wont be to a rich guy like we all want. We could be back in the same situation in a year or two. Or if the financial world recovers then we would be prime for takeover.

SaintRobbie Posted 24 May, 2009 Share Posted 24 May, 2009 I am sure we'll get a takeover soon. But, I am concerned though that if we do not see any action by the end of this month we may not have an opportunity to rebuild this summer with our new manager. What is also - more concerning - is the fact that we may lose more points if a takeover does not occur shortly. Does anyone know when the FA may start further deductions? SaintRobbie Posted 24 May, 2009 Share Posted 24 May, 2009 but when is our 11th hour? For me its the time from which we start having further points deducted by the FA, hence my question above.
