  1. You can have mine for £50 and a Yorkie. I'll throw in a penguin calender and a Dime bar.
  2. I'm quite suprised at the result so far of the vote, I didn't think Waigo was so highly rated amongst Saints fans. I'm pleased of course, I like him and he must be doing something right.
  3. I reckon all the players will raise their game tomorrow - they won't want to lose their places to any potential new signings that could come in!
  4. If he wants the longer contract, let him earn it, I reckon. Pericard just signed an 18 month contract at Swindon. If he turns out to be arse after all, they've got him on the wage book for another year. I'm glad we never signed Olivier Bernard on a longer contract tbf as an eg. Looking forward to finding out how he does tomorrow.
  5. No new signings then? Pah. Bart Jon O Fonte Perry Harding Antonio Morgan Hammond Lallana Lambert Connolly is what I think Pardew will play. I'd be very suprised if Pards plays both new CB's.
  6. Who voted for Forecast you FARKING JOKERS! I'd choose Bart, again his form for us recently has been good, not brilliant, but good. He kept the first clean sheet in ages, something Kelvin had failed to do for a while before his injury, and Bart has earned the right to continue, until he makes a hash of it. I think Kelvin is brilliant, but it can't be easy for Bart to play well and then see himself dropped from the first team.
  7. Still undecided. I think he's class, and can score the odd goal too, but I don't think he's been played regularly enough to warrant a full time contract. I'd give him the rest of his loan contract to prove himself and then I would review it in the summer. I think he'd be an asset whichever league we were in, but it all depends on how much it would cost to keep him, and whether there are better options out there in the summer.
  8. The strange thing is, if we'd made the signings in the reverse order, Otsemobor, Seaborne then Fonte, this place would be buzzing with expectation at the next signing. I'm very pleased that an area that needed strengthening has been strengthened. Bring on the rest of the season.
  9. We're more likely to raise George Best from the dead and play him than sign Holt. I've been mightily impressed with Holt, but he is very much a player in the mold of Lambert, a fighter with an eye for goal. I'd rather have Lambo, but had we signed Holt instead I wouldn't've been too disappointed. Jackson would be the better signing for us, a player that can compliment Lambert, and give Connolly that all important rest.
  10. Simeon Jackson would be the "League One Marquee" signing of the window IMO. Fonte was a start, but we'd be getting even more attention from the media if we signed Jackson. Marquee signings aren't the be all and end all, I'd rather see the club act sensibly than to splash out to make us happy (I suppose that'd be the case with Seaborne over Ward*), but I reckon signing Jackson would guarantee us an extra TV game or two before the season is over. And that can only be positive financially. (Ignoring the Sky curse of course...)
  11. I also wouldn't sack him if we get promoted through the play-offs. As long as we go up, which was the aim the Chairman wanted when he appointed Pardew.
  12. Shot in the arse, and who's to blame? You give Liverpool a bad name. Shot in the arse, and who's to blame? You give full backs a bad name. (Perhaps one for the haters) SHot in the arse and who's to blame? You're called "Semi" coz you've half a brain. (See above) Shot in the arse, and who's to blame? At right back til Murty's back in the frame... (effing terrible)
  13. Still need more creativity in the attacking areas, but defensively I think we're all set. Of course we don't know who'll be leaving the club yet, it could be that we need to add to the areas we have good cover in currently...
  14. Aside from the fact that I'd be suprised if there was ONLY one more player brought in, if it WERE only one player brought in, then I would suggest we need a striker. Lambert and Connolly are really the only two experienced strikers we have, and even then Connolly is not guaranteed to play every game. Paterson is not experienced and seems out of favour, although I don't doubt he could do a job if we needed him to. All we have bar those three is Waigo, who tends to play more on the right, and Lallana, who tends to play on the left. We need a new striker, especially with the number of games we have to play this season, and due to the fixture congestion, I would even go so far as to say we need TWO strikers. They don't have to be expensive, we could pay for one and sign someone like Mifsud as the other.
  15. If my ears heard correctly earlier, Sky SPorts were saying that in the top 3 English divisions, only £7 million has been spent on players so far. That makes the Fonte signing look even better, that we can afford players even when others can't. They reckon the lack of money paid out is because of the financial climate, but I think it's simply due to the weather. Snow is an arse. Besides which, still half the month still to go!
  16. Jon, Jon, Show Us Your Arse. Perhaps not...
  17. Laws was a strange choice for Burnley BUT it's good to see a Premier League team not splash out above their means. Granted, it could mean they go down this season, but at least they won't have spiralling financial debts that haunt them for years. I always though one of the reasons WBA manage to be a yoyo club between the top two divisions is because they don't spend beyond their means.
  18. Firstly with half a month still to go I think there'll me more ins and outs, we haven't seen the last of them IMO. Secondly play-offs are always an outside shot, we'd have to pick up some seriously good form to scrape in, and hope that the bigger teams drop theirs a bit. Lastly, I think it can be done, but I wouldn't be too concerned if we don't go up this season, next season is the big one.
  19. My missus tells me he's a lazy player, but when he's really on his game he can shine. IMO a free transfer and only a 6 month contract means he'll be working hard for a contract extension or a move. Gives James licence to move back into midfield.
  20. I would be defeated by the run from the changing room to the pitch, although if I were really fit to a Premiership standard, I would be a competent defensive midfielder, probably chipping in the odd goal from corners.
  21. hcndajfu
  22. He's 6 months younger than me! And I'm not old, am I?
  23. Can Pulis be "Go Directly To Jail"
  24. If he costs fook all, then what's the harm? Look at Pericard - a 6 month contract gives you the opportunity to put yourself in the shop window. Pericard did that, and now clubs want him, who is to say Mifsud won't give 100% to the cause too? Up front we currently only have Lambert and Connolly. Saga and Paterson are out of favour seemingly, Waigo and Lallana are generally being used in a midfield capacity. I don;t think this would be the end of our search for a new striker, be it Barnard, Jackson, Pericard or whoever. EDIT: Although it begs the question, if we're interested now, I'm suprised we weren't interested in August...
  25. Exactly what I was thinking! Where would we be without our weekly portion of neighbourly hilarity! Although free tickets is the only way I'd want to see them play, and even then I'd probably just stay at home and watch BBC News 24.
