That was an awful game to watch.....but i will take the positives from a very long trip in a hostile stadium. We have kept another clean sheet and never really looked in trouble and fingers crossed no one has picked up an injury.

the only criticism anyone can have about that performance is the finnishing.....apart from that it was a very convincing 1-0 win with some wonderful slick football in the second half. Full credit to Puel for the timing of the second half subs.

Todays game will be very different from Thursdays Europa training session!....There is no way Swansea will be that poor and we will need to keep improving (I honestly think we have been getting better and better) if we are going to get a win. I think there will be changes again to the side but i'm hoping Puel saw that Cuco is a great crosser of a ball and starts him ahead of Cedric who is out of form at the moment. For me Austin has to start, he has shown if you get the deliveries into the box he will always be a real threat. For me Long has to start ahead of Redmond, Long is the perfect foil for Austin.My one dilemma funny enough is the CB pairing....I really think Fonte is out of form and the Euro's have effected him badly.....Yoshi is a far better defender than people give him credit for...if only he could cut out the one a game bad back pass!....Fonte has been making mistakes but just does not get scrutinised as much! For me this has a tight game written all over it with one goal either way deciding it. Would like to be proven wrong and we win comfortably.

for what its worth these are my thought on Austin's performance last night. He is paid to score goals and he got two and so almost had a hat trick. Austin is a poacher, I don't think he works well if he is told to chase the opposition defence all over the place (that is LONG's strength)Austin got service last night, some great crosses into the box and he was there or thereabouts.He was blowing out of his arse by halftime.If we choose to play Austin then Claude needs to play to his strengths.....personally I believe Austin is a natural goal scorer and we should be adapting our game to suit him...or whats the point of having him.Considering Jrod had only been on the pitch a few minutes he took his goal extremely confidently and it will do his confidence the world of good.

It's an interesting post started by a poster I generally despise because of his constant negativity about everything to do with the club. Am I losing interest in the club?...NO, I have supported them since the beginning of the 70's and am lucky to be among those that have seen us win the F.A. Cup.I will always support the club...no matter what...Saints are MY team and the red and white runs through my veins.I will always be eternally grateful for what Markus did for our club and what his family after his death have continued to do....despite Katherine having no real interest in football. I'm grateful we have a board that know how to run the club and not make the mistakes of say Leeds, Portsmouth etc.I look forward to every Saints game in the hope we will win against the top sides, which we have done brilliantly against in the last few seasons....and so so close again on Saturday had it not been for awful piece of reffing.The only thing that puts me off football is the very small percentage of fans on this forum that never have a good word to say about Saints and love it when we lose but are rarely seen when we are doing well. These fans are the only thing that occasionally makes me feel like losing interest because I believe they do not deserve a club like ours and just wish they would f**k off and support someone else.....if you can call it support!!!

I'm starting to wish the bloody football season had never started.....we really do have a handful (and thankfully it is only a handful) of complete and utter W**kers on this forum. there really are some bloody drama queens on here.......either that or a bunch of kids that want to see how many people they can wind up with their ridiculous "doom mongering" comments!!!

Now maybe i'm being a bit naive here....or not.....i'm only going by what i have experienced at all the teams i have played for over the years. Whenever there has been something the players didn't like about something a manager tried implementing then the senior players would discuss the teams concerns with the manager. Sometimes the managers took the concerns on board and changed thing...sometimes not....my point being would this not apply to all teams, even Saints??? Surely if the players are really against the diamond formation and don't feel it best suits what we have then the Fonte as Captain and the more senior players would sound Puel out about it??? I've heard alot mentioned about poor body language and players looking ****ed off....personally cant say i've seen that or i'm not making huge assumptions. What do people think?

I have to say it hugely frustrates me how our fans jump on the back of players and the manager after just 3 games. I also question how many of the posters on here that are being so negative actually have watched our games??? Austin was not crap by any means yesterday. He was physical in the box and ran the line really well with a couple of really good instant snapshots. His problem was his team mates final ball to him.....if they had looked up and seen Charlies run he would never have been off side the times he was.....we were slow in releasing the ball to him.....hopefully that will come. Why oh why are people lauding Jay Rod as the next messaih just because he scored a goal that went straight through the keeper??......Long had an excellent shot tipped round the post, Austin had a couple of very good efforts the keeper saved......had the keeper f*cked up with any of those efforts would you all be now saying Austin has to now be the the one having a run of games or Long??? I watched all the pre-season games, the under 23 game and the the 3 prem games played so far......Jay Rod is lacking badly in confidence and sharpness, I saw nothing in any of those games that made me think he was ready to lead the line. He needs a good run and for that reason i honestly believe a loan would be a good thing for the player.

Did you watch the game??? Off bloody course we deserved the equaliser.....Sunderland were no better than us and to be honest they were worse.....how many saves did Forster have to actually make? We had 64% possession and 16 shots to their 5! I agree that the players seem to be finding the formation not to their liking but they are trying. I'm as upset by another 2 dropped points at home to a crap side as you....but dont say we didnt at least deserve a point!

delighted with the Tadic news, we desperately needed to keep hold of him. Slightly more concerned that Fonte is POSSIBLY having his head turned.....and slightly concerned that Matt Le Tiss spent the day with the team yesterday and is reporting that he does not expect any more incomings???....also no out goings??

well if we are in for anyone at the moment i must say the club are absolute masters of keeping it quiet......there is not so much of a sniff to anyone realistically being linked to us.

I have no issue with Saints selling Mane. He didn't want to be here any longer and Saints got good money...i think!.......My issue is have we replaced the players that have left with the same quality.....Redmond is touted as Manes replacement......I like the lad and he is a Saints player so he gets my unquestioned support....but is a Mane?....NO HE IS NOT.....and i fear we have totally lost our cutting edge. However i except the transfer window is still open and i have faith that the board will not let us down and we see a minimum of two quality players come in before the window shuts.....IT's just a bitter pill to swallow watching Mane in a Liverpool shirt....I ducking hate those scousers!

Not sure there is really anything new in this statement......I think most would expect Tadic to stay and sign an improved contract, especially now RK has gone! We all know we need probably a minimum of 3 signings.....even Puel has hinted at that! After a week in Holland i'm sure Puel now knows who is not up to it and will be loaned out....or possibly moved on. Fonte being sold???.....the only way i can see this happening is if we have had a silly bid and he really wants the move that will secure his and his families future.

I've avoided criticisisng the new look Saints so far....however i have now watched all 4 pre-season games and to be honest with only 2 more friendlies left i am now a bit worried. Yes we look tighter defensively....but we look incredibly impotent up front. There looks to be a real lack of quality connecting the midfield to the forward line. I'm really hoping the players are holding back something....because if they are not i will be very concerned. And lets face it....we have played some good awful opposition so far!!!
