With AOC, we'd have had 3 academy graduates in the biggest club competition final on earth. So far, two ex-Saints have scored. If all of Clyne, Lovren, van Dijk, AOC, Lallana, Mane and Bale had played, that'd have been 7 ex-Saints contributing to a CL final. Utterly fukking mind-boggling, really.

There’s gonna be changes but I wouldn’t just ‘football manager’ an entire squad out of the door, agreed. I personally think they’ve been grossly mismanaged and with a few additions (some enforced, some not), we can still be a top half team competing for the ‘best of the rest’ title.

Get rid of: Reed, Krueger, Wilson, Watson. Replace them with normal human beings with a particular nous at their jobs. Attempt to reintegrate Boufal but if he’s a d1ck, get rid and replace with a Mane style player with great pace. Go balls out for Promes. Accept that Cedric and Bertrand will likely fk off, but try and retain them. Reward Alex McCarthy with a new contract and make him number 1. Scour the world for 2 top class centre halves. Look for the players to replace outgoing and don’t ever, ever attempt to go cheap and nasty when it comes to replacing first team players again. They were grossly mismanaged for more than three quarters of a season. Never doubted they care, just needed a proper manager to organise. Oh and Alex McCarthy helped. A lot.

Alongside a capable, dominant centre half - not bad. Alongside a slow, cumbersome, error prone Dutch Aaron Martin, not so much. Looked OK alongside Yoshida for latter part of last season, bearing in mind he'd just been thrown in to Prem football. Really don't think he's the worst of the current two - not by a long chalk.

I don't think Alex Neil would be a bad shout and regrettably, Nigel Pearson too. Extra shout outs to Chris Hughton, Mick McCarthy (if available - would never be a 'first choice' but I think we have to look at proven promo experts). Mark Hughes ideally though. Definitely worth a crack... proven Prem manager, though the Champ is a different thing altogether. Adkins for nostalgia reasons... could he do it again? Would he?
