  1. Exactly right! I remember my first boyhood hero was Charlie Wayman (1947-50) our top scorer. He came to the Dell for training each day by bus and arrived at 8.50 I could just get his autograph on the way to school. We felt close to the players, they were one of us! And Georoge Reader the chairman was a Southampton man and lived in Hanley road. All that has completely gone, I am trying to think of something good which has replaced it and at the moment I can't
  2. He got us relegation in his first season, and he would do it again.
  3. If we sack a manager for ending 8th why does the Board think when we are 18th this chap is ok
  4. Mopo spends the match waving his arms like a horse racing bookie and calling players attention. How can they hear him? How can they see him and watch the ball? Alf RAmsey used to say the manager was in charge for the training and by the time that was done the players knew their role and the captain took charge on the pitch. Common sense to me. Not to Mopo
  5. How many captains on the field have we had this season, and how many of them are sure to be first choice? Yoshida was the best and he is nowhere to be seen, a sign of the instability running through the whole club, top to players.
  6. I don't know what sort of manager he is meant to be but I do know we played Liverpool four times last season and they didn't score against us once. Come back Puel!
  7. Austin will never be fit, he knows how to pick up easy money, and that spirit has pervaded the Club
  8. I still think the players are trying, they run around a lot. But when they get the ball they look quite frightened and end up passing it back to the person that gave it. They look as if they haven't seen each other before. That is down to the manager. We know these players are all much better than they now look. This squad was without VVD and Austin for half of last season and still ended 8th. The fault is with the manager, the Board and the owners. I actually feel sorry for the players

Valuable part of a good Championship side. 11 assists in a season from left back, thanks a lot mate you did us proud when we needed it
  10. Theo left a club that was relegated for a second time, and bankrupt. There was no future here for a youngster at that time and the club was desperate for the money. In fact you could say Theo's move saved us, though we went into administration later. AL left when we were in the Premier league and rising. that's the difference
  11. Lambert--no one can hate the guy, the reasons were obvious, we are told. Yes, I understand that but never the less he was the one that started it, the rest just followed, he was that group's leader and that is where he led, so he is to some extent responsible
  12. Why are we taliking about selling him, thought we wanted to hold our talent. We should turn down £40m offer
  13. Even if Pardew is sacked (unlikely) he will walk into another job when he chooses. To be sacked is almost a badge of honour in management, football is not like the resty of life, it is a paralell universe, haven't you noticed?

its disgusting and not worthy of our club or this forum or any civilised debate, where are the mods?
  15. We need Matt the player right now to save us again. We don't need the post playing Matt who has -sadly-been a mug. Cortese was right to clear out the failed old guard who were administative failures
  16. I share these thoughts except it is 70 years not 50 that I've been supporting them. I feel sorry for the players because we know from the past that they are not bad players but they are playing badly---all of them. Compare Romeo past with the present, and Davis, and Tadic. Only JWP and PEH have improved. This dreadful decline is no more fun for the players than it is for us. Do Board members actuall attend matches? If so they must see the truth for themselves.
  17. Our attacking instincts and our self belief were destroyed last season and this guy has made it worse
  18. How was his squad better? He was without Van Dyke and Austin most of the season
  19. Where is Nicola, he wouldn't have let this happen.
  20. Puel did remarkably well in his quiet unattractive way, nothing similar to say about this chap. Of the two, Puel is definitely the better but I am really disillusioned that we couldn't make a far more positive appointment in the first place, now who will want to come near us?
  21. Pep's speciasl skill proven over the years is bringing the best out of his players and my guess is that if Redmond played under Pep his real ability would would surface and he would be a match winner. Our system has done the opposite to him and to other playerts, no wonder people want to leave.
  22. Redmond is clearly not popular with the fans but i am wondering if the last two managers have made the most of his skills. Isn't that what Pep was on about when he had his chat with him after the Man City game
  23. Yes, I agree! Let's just hope the 'fans' give him strong support and time to settle, and don't destroy him the way they tried to with Mane

    Prowsey

I thought Lallana was the one to succeed Matt LeT as the one club local icon, and I was wrong. JWP is the next in line. OK he has not got the star quality those two had but he is hard working dedicated totally reliable and the club is in his DNA---just what we want in the sort of crisis we have got ourselves into. hope he stays a one club model, why 'supporters' spend their time attacking one of our own, I will never understand.
  25. What is the marco Silva craze about? He has one relegation to his name and was heading for another when sacked. What is the appeal? Nightmare!
