Who is the guy with glasses next to Roy?
-
Yes I was there and boy did it rain! The pitch was a quagmire we never see anything like it these days, sometimes the ball just plopped into mud and stayed there, other times it bounced high, Shilton's kick was from his hands and from the edge of the area and it caught the wind, it was the last of the five. Has anyone seen a Saints goaly score?

The days of us having to loan players are over, if we are short anywhere we have squad members and academy raring to go. Loans are for the impoverished and for strugglers, those days are past--get used to it!

I wonder what old LMcM thinks of it now after his critical comments at the time, actually I don't care, he is the past NC the future
-
we're on the 'up' why should anyone want to leave us for Man U who are on the 'down'? In January NC will lose no one he doesn't want to lose, so stop worrying
-
Boruc gives me great confidence, Kelvin makes me nervous, I think it might be the same for the defenders, so Boruc would be the biggest loss (but I love kelvin, great club man)
-
He's a better tackler than Scholes already and he's better with dead ball placements than Bally ever was, so lets not compare him, he's his own man
-
Gaston isn't finished, MP said when he arrived that he would make every player a better player and we can see that is what he and his coaching team is doing and I guess Gaston is just having to learn to adapt to tougher training and different tactics, when he is ready.....look out!

Why do some posters revel in players/managers doing badly?
Dellman replied to Unbelievable Jeff's topic in The Saints
Must be unhappy people, probably unemployed or failed marriage or both and don't like seeing others succeed, very common bit of transference -
I expect Juventus and a lot of others do want Osvaldo. But we've got him so they can take a running jump or pay NC a fortune
-
Why all the stuff about wide men and pace--they're history. And as for clubs coming to raid us in January --that's history too. Who would leave us now? only people who have no chance of making the team, Ramirez may be one of them. Nice to feel so secure , new feeling for Saints fans, well done NC

I don't want Pompey to go out of business or be liquidated or whatever, I know they deserve it but it would spoil the fun. Seeing them struggle and fail probably for years to come and at great cost to themselves is fun for us and a just punishment for them, extinction would end their pain and that is too easy for them
-
anyone would think we had lost the match and were in danger of relegation
-
A good exercise is to pick a whole Saints team beginning with, say, B and then one beginning with C and so on and see which letter is strongest. I guess it might be W but who would play in goal?
-
today he and the team was saved by the substitution. Great that our young JWP was the rescuer, smart tactical move from MP, Dyer 's threat was greatly reduced
-
It doesn't reflect 150 years, they're nearly all modern, we were dominant between the wars and I don't see Ted Drake, Cliff Bastin or the greats of the first 100 years and how are Peter Bonetti and Jack Butland in and Frank Swift out?
-
Ravi? God forbid
-
Regards the original question, I thought it was going to be about turning into the old West Ham, the West Ham that had the reputation of producing the finest young talent who became the backbone of the England team, yes we are turning into that West Ham
-
If the idea is to have a home grown team we won't be selling. those days are gone, who would want to join a declining Man U in place of a rising Saints? We are the club of the future which will become the biggest single supplier to the English world cup effort in 2020, Shaw among them

It was a shock all round when NA was sacked and some over reaction by us and by national press and pundits, remember Laurie Mac saying the new guy was some unheard of person who couldn't speak English, well he was unheard of by him, which just shows how much of a dinosaur he has become. NA was a really nice man and I felt comfortable with him but I can see the difference now and reckon NC is proved bold and right
-
I remember when West Ham were the model for classy football with a string of young talent coming through, now they are the dinosaurs of the league and ugly with it, what went wrong?
-
When we were -10 in League one NC said his target and ambition was to be in the Champions League position in five years, it's now five years and we are! Who could have believed it? Well he did and we owe him a lot
-
He was with us in our declining years when everyone under performed and we had crap managers, 'arry even left him on the bench as relegation approached so I'm not surprised if he has bad memories of those years, so do I.

The arrival of Wheater and the demotion of a great young wicket keeper who has been with us since childhood must have demoralised the young ones, whose crazy idea was it?
