Yeah an average player for 800k may make sense, 12m for one does not imo.
-
800k for a workmanlike average attacker i could get even if it wouldn't excite me. spending 12m million on one is ridiculous.
-
I'll predict he'll be mentioned in the same breath as Kerry Dixon and David Speedie.
-
How has he been shocking for sunderland. Barely had a game, let alone a run in the team since he signed for them. Worth much more than 1-2m imo and overpaying for someone who has potential to kick on to be very good is vastly preferable to vastly overpaying for someone who is distinctly average and has virtually no chance of getting any better.
-
I'd much prefer blow 10m on a 21 year old who's extremely highly rated, scored regularly for u21's, scored in loan spells in championship and when finally given a run in prem team too. If West Ham get him that's a got potential to be a corking signing.
-
Yes i'd prefer someone unproven with potential, like when we signed Jrod rather than relegation scrap candidate who may bag a half dozen goals but certainly doesn't have potential to improve and help us towards european places. And yes if you are buying a player who's sole attribute is his pace then you should be worried that he's in his later half of his twenties.
-
Yep both better players with room to progress to be even better.
-
I'm still really annoyed about selling chambers dirt cheap. I'd be happy with Kelly from Liverpool now but looks like Palace are getting him. If Byram is now off the table, scared what dross we will be after.
-
Really gutting if we are going for this type of ageing dross rather than the likes of Ings/Wickham or any other player with some potential. Planning for relegation scrap rather than any form of european ambition clearly.
-
Hugely overpaying for dross with little resale value. Certainly not something to get excited about.
-
He's very talented, still very young, and when finally got a run of games in prem he scored a few goals.
-
Hardly a surprise. Panic buying their mediocre jan panic buy for a huge sum was always going to have people mocking us.
-
That would be embarrassing, us helping hull strengthen to finish well above us whilst we have their mediocre January panic buy.
-
And according to you we shouldn't have bought Jrod then? I'd much prefer wick ham who clearly has potential to be much better player than long.
-
A team that spent stupid money and still got relegated. Then went out and spent even more and lost first championship game. Good team to emulate lol.
-
So now we are down to hoping he fails the medical. Otherwise we've spent stupid money on utter mediocrity.
-
Indeed, mediocre player & a fee that is so massively inflated above his worth it's scary.
-
They panic bought him in jan. Given it sounds we're getting them out of that hole and giving them a whacking great profit they are understandably biting our hand off.
-
I thought it was a stupid panic buy by them at the time. Now we are getting them out of jail and giving them a profit fir that dross.
-
Indeed it's a real shame.
-
We've bet a load of money on hull finishing above us so we buy their dross and give them a huge whack of cash to spend. Or we've a bunch of idiots panicking about potential and offering millions for any piece of garbage.
-
Yes he should definitely play before jwp, taider or reed. Given Morgan's head has gone he should be a starter IMO.
-
Now our goal is to finish fourth bottom, with dross like long and massively pay over the odds for it.
-
It'll be a private hospital though given stupid fee we are giving him. He can spend some time picking out the non dross replacement he wants to buy with a portion of our largesse too.
-
Would be acceptable mediocre squad player on a free or 1 million. Can't believe we are going to to give hull a profit on their crazy panic buy last January. If true board are in desperate panic state trying to avoid relegation. Certainly not actions of club with ambition, looking to bring in players with ability to develop such as we did when we signed the likes of Rodriguez.
