  1. Middlesbrough are this years Huddersfield. People give too much credence to remaining unbeaten. Too many draws will be their undoing, their matches must be dull. I'd rather watch our 9 goals for and 6 against in September than their 3 goals for and none against.
  2. Appreciate logistically it's not really possible, but I wish they had more latitude around which matches to show extended highlights of so they could actually choose the more exciting games. Leeds Pompey was quite dull. In fact, even before the match I wouldn't have understood why they felt a mid-table clash justified 10 minutes or so of highlights.
  3. How many events do they contractually have to play in anyway? I was under the impression that most of the events apart from the masters series (9 tournaments, best of 3 sets) and the grand slams (5 tournaments, best of 5 sets) were voluntary. So they could have most of the year off if they really wanted. Don't the Williams sisters choose not to play very often (when they are fit)?
  4. Someone had better tell Jack Cork to bugger off then.
  5. We've been bucking the trend for Carling Cup attendances for a few years now, I guess we've just dropped down to the same sort of level as most other teams. I have to say, as a season ticket holder early round cup games have little appeal to me.
  6. Cotterill is making himself look like a right idiot. Just watched the football league show, and Lawrences first booking (which Cotterill said shouldn't have been a yellow) could easily have been a straight red. So could the second one. Steve should be thanking the ref for his player only getting a one match ban rather than the three games he should have got.

    Jos the Boss

I thought he played well. Good presence, nice and strong. Will also give us something extra at the other end of the pitch as well. With Richardson to come in at right back, that defence will do a good job.
  8. You did get the answer to the original question wrong though. I can't believe no-one has picked you up on that.
  9. Could do with getting these two out though, 100 partnership, 233/6.
  10. I have also met him on a night out, whilst I was hammered on a stag do. He happily posed for photos with the Stag (who is a Pompey fan). He was a good laugh.
  11. To be fair, we did lose Chamberlain. Which is why I guess people were expecting a big signing or two with the money that transfer brought in.
  12. Funnily enough I recently read an article (can't remember where) which stated the opposite. It said that it was better for the defending team for there to be as many players in the box as possible, as it reduced the space for attackers to run into. It said that teams have a better chance of scoring from a corner if they hold a few players back. Not saying I agree, just that I found it interesting as that seems to have been the approach we've taken over the last season or so.
  13. Unfortunately I think it turned out to be alright in the end.
  14. Anyone know how this would work: My dad falls into the 'cull' of seniors (he's 63) and now counts as an adult. He now qualifies to get a free kids ticket (we are already in the Chapel and I get an under 8 ticket free already with my season ticket). Will they let him get this additional seat now, or would it not count as a renewal?
  15. That should have said p1ss
  16. And cups of ****.
  17. Sounds like this is one thing that Portsmouth is quite good at. I guess they are used to dealing with rubbish.... We get a weekly rubbish collection, and they work bank holidays so you never have the day shifted. We don't have wheely bins for our rubbish (do for recycling). Maybe the money they save by making people buy their own bins enables them to provide a decent service.
  18. I could perhaps see that, if we were doing well in the premier league, we might require a ground holding around 40k. However it would cost a huge amount to add those extra 8k seats, it makes no sense financially at all.
  19. Paula Radcliffe has never won an Olympic medal, so your point doesn't really make any sense.
  20. I've got the same, morning session on the 4th August. Like you say, should get to see some of the big names in athletics so should be good.
  21. Saints academy seems to churn out identikit blonde five foot nine players, so maybe we're already doing this?
  22. I think it's more to do with the weight on the foundations. When they built St Mary's the archeological dig showed lots of artifacts a short distance below the ground. Most of them are still there, and the depth of the foundations was reduced to avoid damaging them. Those foundations wouldn't be able to cope with additional weight on the Itchen Stand. That's how it was reported at the time, anyway.
  23. Keep the text on one line. Two lines looks messy.
  24. Is that other fanzine that some guys started last season still going?
  25. There's a Lacoste outlet store at Gunwharf. Doesn't help Dune though as I don't think he lives locally.
