  1. anyone remember the last pre-season we had there circa 2000? Much fun had by all!
  2. Really happy with this, glad we've now got a manager in place to settle the ship. Looking forward to see who he signs, definitely a name that could attract a new level of players.
  3. Hardly the 'marquee' fixture I was expecting, still be a good test I'm sure. I really hope that away game is a decent club in a decent city though....
  4. That episode is currently on Gold as a tribute, by far my favourite episode of The Young Ones. " Hands up who likes me!"
  5. "Edward Elizabeth Hitler, come down here at once!!" . Utter legend, loved The Young Ones and Bottom whilst growing up, really gutted by the news.
  6. Lumped on that 10/1 Lambert next goalscorer from the Ray Winstone advert at half time, only reason I cheered Rickies goal. Gutted that he's no longer one of us, remembering how bat **** crazy I went when he scored against Scotland 10 months ago to feeling totally apathetic towards the whole England thing now.
  7. Any update on when the club are likely to announce the new kit? With tensions running high between the fans and the board the last thing they want to do is unveil an own brand monstrosity! Perhaps best to wait till a new manager and some new signings have been announced!
  8. Indeed, as does Bridge who got his first call up in the 01-02 season, and left following the 02-03 season.
  9. we actually started that season with another out of his depth manager, although he was nowhere near as bad as Wigley. It was Rupert Lowe's ineptitude to employ a decent manager when Luggy was sacked that sent us down, the damage was done by the time count knapp turned up. Thats why the board HAS to get the next manager appointment right, no one from within, no lower league bosses, no assistant coaches from other clubs, it needs to be someone with top flight experience from any of Europe's main leagues at an absolute minimum, and preferably someone who has never been relegated.
  10. Imagine if Adam travelled up to Liverpool for a secret medical with Rickie tomorrow and they announced a double signing. It couldn't happen surely?
  11. £25 mill is a damned insult when you consider they once spent £35 mill on Andy ****ing Carroll. I never dreamed that "our" England players might not be ours by the World Cup, but this board are doing their best to make it happen!! Utter utter shambles.
  12. He's like a door to door salesman that ended up in charge of a Premier League football club. Talks a lot of ****,says the right things, but is naive if he thinks this business is like his beloved Ice Hockey.
  13. Saw a video a couple of days ago of a young girl perhaps 4 or 5 being run over by a van in China, the van drives off and then about 10 other people walk/drive past, have a look, and just continue on their way leaving the girl dying in the road. Utterly appalling to think anyone could behave that way towards another human being, especially a child.
  14. @TheRealAC3: #Baines and #shaw are great players, proved this season, and are the future of this country, it was a pleasure to get #107 caps #eng #
  15. Been one hell of a journey! Far too many high points to name, really enjoyed being a big fish in a small pond in League 1, and had more amazing away days than I ever could in the sterile grounds of the Premier League. That 1-0 at Yeovil on the terraces in the sunshine, winning 4-0 at Brizzle Rovers and exorcising the ghost of the 1-0 loss 2 seasons prior, both trips to Orient, Brighton and Plymouth away.... I actually miss those days is some ways. The JPT run, smashing Leeds on the opening day in the Championship, staying in the top 2 all season, breaking pretty much every win record we'd ever had. They were fun times. Lowest point for me by far was away to Swindon in our first season in League 1. Even though we'd made a few signings that was by far and wide one of the worst performances I'd ever seen from Saints, and for me that really was rock bottom. In fairness everything has been pretty much upwards from that point.

    Artur Boruc

    Joint best with 2000/01 season.
  17. 1-1 now thankfully, hope City get the win.
  18. United can still finish 6th if they win their next 2.
  19. With that in mind I suppose there's an outside chance Sky might decide to televise our game to see if Man Utd can finish in a European Spot.
  20. Lots of bitter plastics bemoaning Adam his place in the team on twitter, despite the fact the votes are cast by their fellow pros. Both we'll deserved, although am slightly surprised at Shaw being in I have to admit. Adds a few quid on his price tag though I suppose.....
  21. According to that link Terry Paine made 815 appearances in the 17 years between 1957 - 1974, which works out an average of 47 appearances a season!! Christ that's impressive, especially with a few England appearances on top of that. edit: I know most fans probably know this fact, and I'm well aware Paine is a saints legend, I'd just never really took the time to read the statistics about him.
  22. Fair play to them, incredible how far they've come in a short space of time. Would be great for the area if they could achieve another promotion, although would they be allowed into the football league without major redevelopment of the silverlake?
  23. If Shaw is to truly become a top player then he needs to get some major practice in crossing, particulary the ability to bend a ball around a player instead of having to beat him first. Too often his crosses are soft floaty balls into the box which most keepers happily claim all day long. Despite his shocking ability to defend Fox had one hell of a cross on him, that's the sort of delivery we miss.
  24. Fulham - A Liverpool - H Man Utd - A Chelsea - A Arsenal - H that's one hell of a run in. Be lucky to get a point from those.
  25. https://twitter.com/brucemyster69/status/453156437959909376 they are so tinpot it's unbelievable.
