John B Posted 29 June, 2009 Share Posted 29 June, 2009 Surman going to either Sheffu td or Wolves. saod to be holding back for Wolves and PL. DMG to Forest. Whether this is Fry's Pinnacles contingency I dont know to pay wages, but alos probaqbly to cover Frys fees if he starts the winding up I thought it was always likely that loads of players were leave after relegation not really surprising

gonzo Posted 29 June, 2009 Share Posted 29 June, 2009 Surman for that amount is not good - he must be worth more. Not when he plays for a league one club in severe danger of being wound up. If we were still CCC and solvent, it would be at least double, but we're not really in a position to haggle when the staff haven't been paid. ringwood Posted 29 June, 2009 Share Posted 29 June, 2009 has not Fry always said that he's not admin for SFC but SLH, SFC does still have a board structure does it not? so if Fry is to maintain his SFC is not in admin then how can he sanction the sale of players? surely it has to be the SFC board? Mr X Posted 29 June, 2009 Share Posted 29 June, 2009 I know i'll get flak for this but the more of the old crew we can get rid of the better we need a complete overhaul if we are to rise from the dead, with a few exceptions they totally had the wrong mentality and couldn't stand up and be counted when we needed it the most. Looking forward to starting with a cleaner slate with players that want to be here and that are willing to give it their all.
ringwood Posted 29 June, 2009 Share Posted 29 June, 2009 its ok 'cleaning the slate' but as time goes on there will be less players available for the new management to select either at the club or purchase/ loan. As I said before how can the administrator of a separate company be running SFC, if he is then is he responsible for the wages of SFC , indeed isn't Begbies actually responsible for all debts incurred whilst they are in charge? part of the reason companies appoint administrators I thought? Looking forward to starting with a cleaner slate with players that want to be here and that are willing to give it their all. I don't think you'll get much flak for saying we should get rid of all of them, but then this place is inhabited by quite a few with thinking difficulties. It's a fair point to say "they didn't do it last season", but that doesn't mean they'll fail again at a lower level and with different guidance. As you said, there were exceptions. I'd be pretty cheesed off if we offloaded Davis, Perry, Wotton, Gobern, Thomson, Holmes or McLaggon for their attitudes for instance.

And here's the interesting bit it is "to cover the wages" so Fry seems to have no confidence in Mr Lynham. That is disturbing - knew Surman was going to go but "cover the wages" - doesn't sound like a deal done for the club itself in the next 48 hours does it? Surman will be one of those players that thrives at a new club where with a new environment where he will be moe inclined to listen to advice to strengthen his upper body and get himself as fit as possible. McCarthy might be the sort of manager to get the best of Drew as he has lots of ability but after a bright start last season looked very stale and jaded for the rest of the season and the previous season was similiar after a bright 06/07 for him. You have the question the quality of the coaching.

ottery st mary Posted 29 June, 2009 Share Posted 29 June, 2009 Who is to say it is one or the other to cover wages.....Also I am sure if I was an agent...say for mighty Mac and signing a long contract on good wages..I would add clause...set a fee.. say 1 mil... if relegated.....So it may be in his contract...Plus he has wanted to head back to Notts for sum time due to girl and baby......Think we owe 200/250 grand to Notts County......Fry and negs maybe ongoing due to Notts Forest and nothing to do with prospective buyers due to Macs contract sorted by Rupes and Phil The Whale...Just a thought.. Now Surman is another thought for another day....
Arizona Posted 29 June, 2009 Share Posted 29 June, 2009 DMG £1m and A.S £500k? Just had that e-mailed to me... Not when he plays for a league one club in severe danger of being wound up. If we were still CCC and solvent, it would be at least double, but we're not really in a position to haggle when the staff haven't been paid. I'm fairly sure DMG wouldn't draw a £2m fee if we were in the Prem and owned by Bill Gates, so I don't think that's entirely the situation. £500k for Surman is very poor money, especially given that he got 7 goals from midfield last season. We got more than that in tribunal fees when Leon Best left on a Bosman. Hope they both stay, especially Surman, although there are going to be tempting offers out there. Arizona Posted 29 June, 2009 Share Posted 29 June, 2009 Glad to see the back of both. Hope we can keep most the rest. We need a bit more commitment and bottle, and these two showed next to none last season. But beyond attitude, I just couldn't stand to see another poor Surman set piece, or another scuffed shot from DMG. I don't get this attitude of wanting rid of players who blatently arren't sh*t. I'm refering to players like Surman and Saganowski who've shown in the past that they were amongst the best players in CCC on their day. Rather than building the team around them and trying to get the best out of them, most people just seem to want rid. It's like there's some kind of guarantee that if you get rid of a player who isn't performing, we will definitely bring in someone much better. In reality we just end up with gash like Wotton, Schneiderlin and Robertson.

And Pekhart definitely was, until he got dropped for no good reason to preserve McGoldrick's bizarre untouchable run of games. Agree on the Surman and Saga front though, decent players. I think with Wotton his skills are best kept for motivating colleagues, can't fault his effort though.

A cracking goal, but let's be honnest it was a speculative effort when he hit it. Hasn't played since he returned to the Blades either.
