The Sky Curse

With so many changes with sfc, do you think it marks the end to the dreaded Sky Curse?

Correct me if I am wrong but isn't the Millwall games on sky? if it is, perhaps it would be worth AP taking note of this http://www.ehow.com/how_5134364_remove-curse.html

:D

The Sky curse is very recent when compared to the opening day curse which has been running since 1989. Despite most of our opening games being at home since then (I think there have been 3 away) in that period, we have had a solitary opening day win (at Coventry in 1999) to celebrate. Lets hope our new-found optimism will lead to us getting to -7 points before the rest of the league even kicks off their season.

Sky curse my armpit! This is Millwall we are playing, they will roll over and die. In my house we are only -7 already.

btw

I have a family of 4 Millwall knucklehead relations staying at mine especially for it. I am so looking forward to this match.

My brother is also a Millwall fan, constantly telling me how Neil Harris is going to score a hatrick against us lol. If we beat them then it will be very enjoyable!

Forget the 'Sky' curse and the 'opening day' curse !

My son is coming over from Belgium and he normally brings his own curse (hasn't seen them win for about 3 years!).

If we lose I will be cursing as usual, but that's a slightly different type of curse .............

Still plenty of time for someone to nip down to one of the local convents, do a little bit of plumbing and collect all the virgin wee they can. Then ensure before the big day someone gets into the ground and sprinkles it all over the pitch, the corner and goal posts. Don't forget to save some to sprinkle the satellite receiver and contract with Sky. Should do the trick. Only trouble is. Do the convents still maintain the virginity regulation or do we have to search farther afield?

Did we win on opening day 1989? If so and we won opening day 1999, then 2009 is looking hopeful :)

Nagging suspicion we lost 2-1 at home that day...to Millwall.:(

Will check.

EDIT: Now checked ITN and it was Millwall.

I think I remember that - last minute winner by Millwall wasn't it?

As for the Sky "curse", I agree it used to a bit a of a myth in the past. But if you check our TV record last season I think it was something like played 8, lost 8.

TBF our record in games not on Sky last season, wasn't that much better. :(

As mentioned above, we lost on opening day 1989 which was the day the curse began. The Coventry win in 1999 came after 8 consecutive opening day home games. Since then, 6 of the 9 opening day games have also been at home. Our overall record in the last 20 opening days is :

Home - 0 wins, 6 draws, 9 defeats

Away - 1 win, 3 draws, 1 defeat

This Sky curse thing is cobblers. I'm pretty sure our record on Sky has a strong correlation to our record in all competitions when not on Sky.

Also, when is this curse supposed to have started ? Shall we start with Fratton and Killer's injury ? That would helpfully only include us being a bit rubbish for the last 5-6 years to begin with.

And we can have the argument about "beating" Derby in the second leg of the PlayOffs again too...

Nuns don't have to be virgins, just celibate. Should be able to sort that out from contributors on here....:p

I had more in mind the prim young females given up into their care. Must say even in my days few over fifteen year olds at convent schools were virgins. Doubt if much has changed today. More important where are we going to find sufficient qualities of virgin wee before the Millwall game?
