Neal Trotman

fFrom Wiki.......Burnley Youth....Oldham 18 appearances 2006/8

Halifax 11 apps

PNE 3 apps.......Injured and on recovery loaned to Colchester for 6 appearances March 2009.

Hot prospect with good aerial ability..Athleticism, strength and sharpness.....

Was purchased from Oldham by PNE for £500,000 ...Injury? Sounds reasonable at one time..We will soon see.

A good day for Saints really. Replacements for 2 of our worst players - Hammond for Wotton. I'm hoping Trotman is good or Pardew wouldn't have brought him in but he must be an improvement on Lancashire!

22 is young but he's a tall, strong looking lad. Let's hope we improve on Saturday.

I'd love to see a midfield with Holmes (LEFT WING), Hammond & Gillett (or Morgan) CM. Mellis (RIGHT WING)

Harding - Perry - Thomas - Murty

Saga - Lambert

Strong squad with a decent bench of Rasiak, Lallana, Trotman, Gobern, Morgan/Wotton

Another loanee !! Sorry, I just don't see why we aren't backing our convictions.
Well I guess a loanee is a good option of there is no suitable permanent signing in the offing. A loanee is low risk option while waiting for the right permie to become available.

Does make you laugh all the comments about "another youngster" at 22!! In the Saints team from last year at 22 most of them will have been on the front line for 6 years!

When Michael Owen was picked for England against Argentina in France '98 some folks from here must have been having coronaries.......... Have you notice how the coppers look younger these days ;-)

Sounds good - nothing wrong with a youngish and oldish CB partnership - its defensive equivalent of little and large combo upfront. One wise-head to organise and read the game, the other with a bit of athleticism/pace to do the bidding and clean things up.

That Blackburn and Derby (when they were in the Prem) were looking at him a few seasons ago and he recently turned down Millwall must say something. These are all clubs that have been able to spot a good brick sh*thouse in their time.

Fine, IF we sign an experienced centre back too. Why the hell isn't JPS here? He looked good a league higher in a woeful team. Not to mention we'd have someone who could shoot from set pieces. He's free and wants to play for us, I just don't see where the risk is.

too true - here you've got Pards complaining how difficult it is to twist clubs arms and bring players in and there's a proven player saying come and get me. How hard can it be FFS.

Totally agree. For all his faults he's a world better than Thomas or Lancashire and Perry, bless im, is on his last legs

Very true .

Getting loans is very good as if they are no good you can off load them

We dont want to sign players on long contracts if they are good for League 1 but do not have the potential to be VG in the CCC

But Trotman seems to be what is required at the moment

If he's the player i think he is....then he is extremely highly rated. I remember there being a feature before one of Colchesters live games last year, where either Peter Beagre or Kamara previewed this player and raved about him...

Millwall were v keen to sign him too. from the preview of him i remember them describing him as a ''technically gifted, extremely quick, but an amazingly strong CB for his age''.

Preston fans aren't happy he's gone - they think he should be in their first team!

Forget all that though, we should have signed him for £5m to signal our intent

If so, I agree S-Clarke.

Been looking on there board. Says he is pacy and great with headers. Sounds like exactly what we need. I hope we get in another cb if we can though along with a winger and then a striker if the polish go

Yeah but it doesn't matter how good he is though cos he's a loan signing FFS. I personally would be unhappy if we signed John Terry on loan

I don't understand why everyone seems shocked that pardew won't sign jps. He's probably only seen him play once or twice and looking at our defensive stats the last couple of seasons i don't think any cb of ours is in high demand. I'm not saying he wasn't a good player just that pardew probably isn't willing to stake his job on a player he doubtless has very little information about and will want his own targets

Pah, no wonder AP with those negative body language vibes at Swindon....

When does he find time to SLEEP? A new signing per day! FFS slow down man you'll burn out...

However, as you're obviously on a role can you just complete the path to near hero status by booking a taxi for 5pm on 31st

For Pulis (or insert personal pet hate/space waster name here)

bit of a worry that AP has worked "non stop" trying to sign a CB and when he does he signs some unknown, unproven youngster on loan!? Keeps talking about team needing experience but then looks to give other teams unexperienced players some experience.

Hope he knows what he's doing........Preston fans seem to have mixed opinions.

ahh well I will give him a chance - still think we need another CB (Jaidi mold) losing both Perry and Thomas from the team would be good.

This is bull****. Why are we taking players on 6 month loan deals? We are supposed to be building a team that will get us out of L1. Have we not learned the lesson with loan players? Part of the reason for our demise over the last few seasons has been because we've had too many loanees who are not commited enough because thay have no passion for the club.

Possible answers

1) We still expect to sign Jaidi but the Work Permit process and appeals could take 2 or 3 months

2) AP has possibly seen something in Lancashire that coaching and maybe a loan could bring out

3) He is waiting for a better player to become available in January

4) He has another one lined up on a full-time contract

5) He needs to move high earning players out before making any more long term commitments due to the playing staff wage budget that agreed when he joined - as in he gets rid of one out of Rasiak or Saga and has enough money for 3 L1 professionals

All options. Seeing as the Holiday Camp team have all left the building, I'll go with the Baldrick option - he's working to a cunning plan

Well if it work out perhaps they can be bought for a fee in January - if they are ****e - just send them back. Loans are good things - at least when they are as long as 6 months.

As in Andrew Davies - yes that worked well

Saga - possibly no he was much better while on loan

But he could also be out of contract by then we don't know

And with a youngster, perhaps better to make sure he fits the bill rather than have another Pulis/Gasmi/Smith hanging around
