Give it to Ron Posted 25 September, 2009 Share Posted 25 September, 2009 Strachan may want to get back into football....would he join a club in such turmoil - no facilities, no money, no points and sully his reputation after Celtic? I amsure he will roll back into football soon but can't believe it will be the other end of the M27 - remember the bookies stopped taking bets on Keegan and WGS here. stardustonmyfeet Posted 25 September, 2009 Share Posted 25 September, 2009 Personally I'd happily shatter my hip to bits with a sledgehammer to get out of managing that place, but if Strachan chooses to work there, then that's his problem, not mine. sussexsaint Posted 25 September, 2009 Share Posted 25 September, 2009 They stopped taking bets on him coming here at one point anad he didn't so I wouldn't read to much into anything. I was under the impression that he has some personal issues that prevent him from returning to a full time job anyway. It has been suggested his wife may be ill , I have NO evidence whatsoever for this, but clearly he is still interested in football at our end as he has been seen at a few of our games

But i'd take one of those back if he were willing, done a good job with limited funds, took us to a cup final and into Europe, you would have to ask would he return ? its been a while since his departure from football, is his life better now away from the pressures ? could the new board convince him to come back ? Well Rupert ? (only messing of course)

Clifford Nelson Posted 25 September, 2009 Share Posted 25 September, 2009 If anybody thinks that the problem in Portsmouth is the manager that must be as deluded you can get. The reason for that is the owner. Anybody who would consider managing them instead of Hart at the moment is either thick as the proverbial planks or in serious financial trouble. I can't see WGS fitting in any category. The one I feel sorry for at the moment is Paul Hart. After everything that has happened over the summer to get it in the neck for being the only one left on board apart from Storrie, who probably will be gone by Monday. A few years in the Premiership created the most appalling debts so that most players had to be sold so that a lying, cheating, self-aggrandising little squirt with no money could take over the club. Whilst there is a part of me which thinks they deserve it, there is another side of me thinking that nobody deserves it. If I had been born in P-muff I could have been one of them!!! And I would have suffered as much as we did until a genuine custodian stepped in to save us from oblivion. They are not so lucky and we will meet them in CCC in a year or two, unless we pass each other going up and down. What goes around...
aintforever Posted 25 September, 2009 Share Posted 25 September, 2009 I would be very surprised if Strach went anywhere near the skate job - he's had his fair share of nutjob chairmen in the past, would be a foolish risk of a good reputation. Unless there is a guarantee of serious cash in January I can't see any decent manager taking that job.
Arizona Posted 25 September, 2009 Share Posted 25 September, 2009 It'd be another legend tainted with a fishy smell. Damn you Niemi. The skates have managed to find the only sheikh in the world without a pot to **** in. Niemi is just there to sponge the drips off the side of this (none-existant) pot. If he is ever required to play again, I think he may mysteriously injure his wrist again. Good old agent Niemi.

mcjwills Posted 25 September, 2009 Share Posted 25 September, 2009 IIRC Strachan was really upset proffessionally when he was relegated at Coventry and has stated he would know when to walk away from a club as he has with us and Celtic, would he really want to risk that humilliation by going to Skateville and have all the hard work he has done since Coventry undone by taking on a disater in the making. Sully his reputation after Celtic? Come on Ron even Burley has a chance in a two race especially if you're on teh one with all the money. Rangers are skint. WGS couldn't sully his Celtic reputation if he managed Elgin City. I would be surprised if he managed Portsmouth in fact i would be surprised anyone would want the job except for Tony Adams. Crab Lungs Posted 26 September, 2009 Share Posted 26 September, 2009 I feel a bit sorry for Storrie he has been there a long time and done well out of the club Corrected it for you. Storrie is an odious paper envelope collecting man. He's as much to blame as GayBoy and Harry. It's not as if he couldn't see what was happening with the overspending. He's bleating he didn't know and it was out of control but did he say anything then? Nope. He was in the loop, all the time, pocketing a fat wedge no doubt as the deck of cards fell around him. If anyone believes his role as CEO kept him out of the loop with the maginitude of **** PF were getting themselves into then you've got to be seriously deluded. Storrie-teller probably even signed a few of the transfers off himself. Horrible liar making a mugging off the game, same as Kenyon etc.

Bailey Posted 26 September, 2009 Share Posted 26 September, 2009 This may come back to haunt me, but I genuinely believe Strachan would turn them down should he get offered the job. Whilst he may want to get back into football eventually, he won't be tempted by P*mpey as they are a club whose future is very much uncertain. I would guess WGS will be back in the game before too long, but I'd be very surprised to see him take charge down the road.

CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 26 September, 2009 Share Posted 26 September, 2009 Storrie helped take a failing club to the Premiership and to a winning Cup Final you would be happy if Nicola did that for us Oh everyone wants success all right - but at what price ? Although not an exact analogy the comparison between Gaydamak/Storrie's reign at PFC and Peter Ridsdale disastrous chairmanship of Leeds Utd is not entirely without foundation . If you spend enough you can buy almost anything in football (PFC's FA Cup win being a prime example) but if that spending is based on 'Other Peoples Money' rather than income or even prudent investment then you're building on foundations of sand . Looking at the latest developments down the M27 that's a mistake they seem determined to repeat .

Chez Posted 26 September, 2009 Author Share Posted 26 September, 2009 Bigotted Rubbish Storrie helped take a failing club to the Premiership and to a winning Cup Final you would be happy if Nicola did that for us were you one of those moaning about Lowe taking £300,000 a year from us whilst running a PLC? Peter Tells Stories is `earning' a reported £2m a year at their place and what a fantastic job he has done handling their finances. Seven years later and the stadium is still no closer, the training ground hasn't been built and season ticket rices are so high that the `world greatest fans' have actually now stopped going in their thousands. ****flaps, gaydamak and tells stories all have one thing in common, they have don't give a **** about the club they have just used it for their own means. Think Goodfellas, and the scene where they buy everything on the restaurants' credit and then when they can get no more they leave it to burn.
