SO16_Saint Posted 26 September, 2009 Share Posted 26 September, 2009 Hull & Blackburn have got tough games today though, so they more than likely wont be left that far adfift unfortunately.
St Marco Posted 26 September, 2009 Share Posted 26 September, 2009 Nah don't think we have ever lost 7 in a row, in fact i think Martin Tyler said only 4 teams have ever lost that many in a row. Think Merson on his blog made a very good point that if they lost today they would probably be down. Because they have to play Man Utd twice, Liverpool twice and Chelsea twice. They will get stuffed in those games. So that leaves 25 games needing about 1.5 points a game which is european place standard. Not going to happen. Also if we win today we get to 1 point 1st and that is fecking hillarious. Of course this is Saints though so knowing us were lose....

Thedelldays Posted 26 September, 2009 Share Posted 26 September, 2009 what is annoying...despite losing 7 in a row..they are only 4 points (well, 5 if you include their goal difference) from safety...
Rasiak-9- Posted 26 September, 2009 Share Posted 26 September, 2009 mm - I wouldn't count your chickens yet, I'm sure Reading and Wigan lost 8 games in a row at some point and managed to stay up, not at the start of the season though. As I said on another forum, wait till they fail to win at home against the Stokes, Wigans, Burnleys, Hulls and Wolves in the league before you start celebrating, there are some very poor teams in the Premiership this season. Dr Who? Posted 26 September, 2009 Share Posted 26 September, 2009 No.. that would be why its a record. Record is only for the start of the season. Well 6 was not sure about 7 ha ha ha The funny thing is they are yet to have a bad patch!
krissyboy31 Posted 26 September, 2009 Share Posted 26 September, 2009 Derby and Swindon are the only 2 teams I can think of the may have 7 straight Premier League games but we held the record of 5 at the start of a season.

Surely now the bookies will run a book on ...WHEN Pompey get their FIRST POINT ....and later in the season ........ on WHICH month they get their first WIN... .and in WHICH year that will be ..... exciting, eh ? Tend to agree with this. Yes they have made an appauling start - but win 2 games on the bounce and things look slightly different. There are some very 'average' teams in the top flight this year and so the points total for saftey could be considerable lower than normal. Hull look to be struggling and are in free fall, other teams could also get sucked in, Portsmouth may yet have the last laugh.
St Chalet Posted 26 September, 2009 Share Posted 26 September, 2009 Technically they have lost 8 in a row as they lost their last game last season.

kpturner Posted 27 September, 2009 Share Posted 27 September, 2009 in the Premier League? Just wondering. Since it is a PL record, I think you'll find that we haven't - unless of course the record only refers to the FIRST 7 games. I dunno if we ever lost 7 in a row during the season but I doubt it. madsent Posted 27 September, 2009 Share Posted 27 September, 2009 in the Premier League? Just wondering. We had some very long runs with no wins but no very long losing streaks. We did finish one place above 2 teams that lost 8 in a row though. Man City lost 8 in a row under Alan Ball and we stayed up on goal difference. Charlton lost 8 in a row in the great escape season. The last of those was the 3-1 loss at the Dell.
