MKD support

Couldn't make it last night so was stuck with SS3 coverage. For those that went, was their support really as poor as it looked? From the tv shots it looked like we outnumbered them, the commentators mentioned our superb away following several times. Could only hear one set of fans singing, apart from one little round of play up p**pey.(very original).

It was our fans singing pay up pompey.

To be fair, the play up p**pey was probably us singing "pay up p**pey".

Their support was sh*te - 7,918 total official attendance so must've only been around 5,000 of them. With that kind of support and a shiney new (half) stadium, I'm supprised they're viable.

I've never been so disgusted with a clubs supporters. We thought they had made a mistake and told their fans the wrong kick off time. They don't deserve to have a nice stadium like that. We did well and sung loudly most of the night but it's hard to get a decent atmosphere going when only the away support is singing.

Such a shame. Could have been a great night but it was ruined by their plastic stay-aways.

I was at the game and there support was non existant, i heard a drum every now and again

I watched the start of the game i recorded when i got in and at the start our fans are singing 'your support is.................' and it cuts to Peter Winkleman and i'm sure he turns to the bloke next to him and says 'There right'

and it seems they are not happy with the way we celebrated at the end of the game. Our fans running on the pitch was stupid and to be fair our players were trying to get them of the pitch.

and the way we celebrated was nothing compared to Billy Davies and Derby in play-off semi of 2007!

lol. What a bitter f*cking lot they are, as the above poster said their assistant manager came out moaning after we'd played them off the park at St Marys in the league.

& all of this talk about their motivation for the 2nd leg, they were saying exactly the same before last nights game, saying we'd bullied them at SMS & they wanted revenge.

Their fans were the worst I have ever seen bar none. Couldn't believe the stadium was so empty & no noise what so ever.

Out of the 7,900 there we must have had half that atleast? Not seen any figures for away attendance yet but would have said we had 3.5k if not 4 there last night?

The bloke is a complete tosser. Our players were doing what all teams do after a game and applaud their fans no more no less.

As for the fans it was a dozen or so excited teenagers who wanted a bit of fun and pat the players on the back.

Not saying its right but hardly inciting trouble were they.

Support was excellent, although as others have said, it's difficultto keeo it going when the home fans are sooooooo quiet.

Players simply came over to applaud the fans at the end-there was no 'celebration' from them- given the support they were given I would not have expected anything else!

Disappointed by the fans running on at the end- far more than 'a dozen or so excited teenagers', although that was how it started.

One of the youngsters needs banning IMO- that's twice I've seen him and twice he's acted like a complete moron.

Agreed, players came over as normal. But then as soon as they noticed the morons trying to charge the pitch, most of the about turned and walked off. Thomas tried to encourage the morons back into the stand, and Holmes hung around for ages for no reason.

Don't understand why the morons felt it necessary to go on the pitch, and that little kid needs to be told once and for all that if he charges on again he will be banned from football for a season.

Their support confirmed their status as a micky mouse club.

tbf i think their average attandance is something like 6-7k, their stadium will be like white elephant if we don't get the world cup bid.

Man U probably think we are Micky Mouse Club

Worth mentioning that Blackburn only took 1500 fans to Villa Park last night, compared to Southampton's 3000 to Milton Keynes.

Very similar situation - just over 200 mile round trip, chance of seeing your side through to a Wembley final, midweek, televised match.

And we took twice the fans, who says we aren't a big club :)

If that indeed was the total attendance then i would suggest that someone somewhere has got thier figures wrong.

3,500 saints fans sounds about right, but to suggest there were a further 4,000+ MKD franchisee's is laughable.

Easily the worst home support of ANY club i've ever seen.

However 90 minutes down, 90 to go i'm confident we'll have the last laugh.

Looking forward to the "what's it like to see a crowd" chants at the home leg.

How they think MK Dons will fill a 40,000 stadium after 2018 I don't know! :D

A white elephant if ever there was one.

A nice white elephant though. I was really impressed with their stadium. Excellent comfortable seats, good acoustics, good concourse with view of the pitch. A closed in 'wembley like' atmosphere- or it would have been if there had been more supporters there.

Good common sense stewarding as well.

I was not however impressed with those that ran onto the pitch. Irresponsible parents/guardians letting those kids go on the pitch (again?) give 'em banning orders.

This is just a bit of a wind-up by their assistant manager to attempt to gain some sort of psychological advantage when the cold reality is that they failed to stop us coming away with a half-time advantage in this tie.

In reality, it is us who come away with the advantage psychologically, as we don't believe for one second that our celebrations will have stirred their players to double their efforts to ram it down our throats at the rematch. What we discern, is that our celebrations annoyed them intensely. It made us feel better about ourselves for a job well done, but made them angry and bitter. It unsettled them and they are coughing and spluttering with indignation. It's not very dignified is it? Pardew comes out of it looking calm and measured, Robinson comes out of it looking like a sulky little child.

One up to us in more ways than one.

Well, apart from the bloke in the brown jacket that threw at least 3 punches at a steward... and the fact that the first two kids aside (and they're tedious enough now, doing it at every bloody Cup game) it was all nob-end "adults" trying to be "hard".

The little kid's slightly bigger mate was getting some steward attention that I don't think he was expecting... it's a start.

Totally embarrassed by our morons last night, I wouldn't mind if they actually contributed to the atmosphere, but 3,000 or not, 75% of the time it was like a morgue, us included. And when they get shepherded straight to and from the ground and can't stop where they like for a beer they'll be the first ones to complain. Anyone still wondering why Southend and Brighton were such stupid away kick off times this season ? There's your answer.

Let's just get some things into perspective. They moved the club 70 miles so the majority of Wimbledon fans won't go any more as it's about a 2 hour drive to watch their so called 'home team'. They've moved to a city where everybody will already have a team that they support, so attracting new fans is always going to be a near impossible task. The best they can hope for is that parents may take their kids for something to do on a Saturday afternoon, but most of those kids will already support one of the big 4. The whole set up is a disgrace. You can't go moving Football Clubs all over the country.

A mate of mine was a life long Wimbledon supporter. Ironically he lives in Milton Keynes, but he'll never go and watch MKD. For him, Wimbledon FC died the day they moved from South London.

I saw that too and thought exactly the same thing!

Not sure if the black seats blurred the visibility of the home fans dispersed around the ground, but what was clear on the tv was the fantastic support from the yellow army!

Well done to you all, see you at the home leg!

I love being a saint!

Doesn't everyone already know this ? Isn't that one of the main reasons this thread exists ? Cos we like to have a go at the plastics and their plastic club ?

My boss is an AFC Wimbledon committee member, luckily I didn't buy last night's tickets directly, but he hasn't actually spoken to me yet today...

After some of the defeats we've dished out to United over the years, and after Ferguson has publicly said he hated going to the Dell as it was a hard place to come to, I doubt they see us as a Mickey Mouse club, just another club who are no longer in the Premier League.

Back on topic, MKDonalds's support was, as the song goes, "Fúcking shít"... Their lacklustre support was dispersed around the half finished ground, and the one time they did make some noise, they just sung one song, and that came from a few hundred fans the other side of the stadium. We completely embarrassed them in terms of support and noise, they were awful. I don't think I've seen a worse home support this season.

The ground, however, was alright. Despite being half finished, I can imagine it being a good ground to go to if there was a capacity crowd, there was comfy seats (not that they were needed) and plenty of leg room... It's a good ground, just a shame MKD don't have the support to fill it.

Usual boring rubbish, give it a rest and just enjoy the win. You don't know what you're on about anyway - Southend have played the majority of their home games on Friday nights this season, they think it helps them attract a few more fans who would otherwise follow other teams on a saturday, Brighton was on their request as 2 games over Easter weekend and they have a long trip to Hartlepool and wanted a bigger gap between games.

I did enjoy the win, up until the point where 30-odd morons trying to show off decided to take the pleasure out of the evening for me.

Southend's game was moved due to police concerns, whilst Brighton may have said that, but they wouldn't want away fans there on a bank holiday (still a legacy of Leeds fans in Bournemouth at Easter in the 80s and mentioned as a consideration in the BBC's fixtures article at the start of the season), especially not ones getting a reputation for acting like ***s.

OK mate, carry on making things up in your mind if it helps you with your "disgust" .

Southend's biggest game for potential trouble was Colchester - played on a saturday.

They have played 6 games on Friday this year against teams such as MK Dons, Gillingham and Orient.

Obviously in this case a pitch invasion would have been better in the 2ng leg, like Villa's last night.

The pitch invasion wasn't by a lot of people. Remember the kid at the Norwich game, who everybody laughed at and loved? He's the same little scrote that's done it 5 or 6 times now this season.

I recently read something about the ground. They've left the top tier out until they get promoted and start to attract bigger crowds - lol. The local paper in MK reported that they are hoping Tottenham will re-develop White Hart Lane and have to ground share with them for a couple of seasons. The extra revenue this will bring in will raise the funds needed to intall the third tier at Stadium MK.

So what if Spurs don't want to ground share at MK? Highly possibe given that it's 50 miles away. That will still leave them with a half complete stadium. Muppets!

I know mate I was at the game. Just don't know why it bothers some of you so much. It's football, a little bit of rogue behaviour is ok with me, contrasts nicely with the cosy sanitised atmosphere of new stadiums.

If it was the 2nd leg I'd probably have been on as well for a quick stretch of the legs before getting the train home.

Lighten up, we won. Nothing wrong with a few kids wanting to thank the players and enjoy the moment.

How about the supposed "adults" who then attempted to start a fight with a stewards for having the cheek to stop them getting on the pitch?

It's happened quite a few times this season - one of these days, the referee will report it to the FA and we'll be in trouble.

There was some numpty on my train home bragging about getting on the pitch and how brilliant it was.

He was in his 40's.

And had 2 kids with him.

And was encouraging them to do the same next time they could.

Jesus wept.

Should have told him to grow up and stop embarrassing himself.

bet you lot are a right barrel of laughs on the train home.

depends on how old his kids were, but good to see some people enjoying their day out rather than just moaning like you morons.

To top it off we had trouble with everyones favourite Saints fans 'the Yoof' after the game. They started on one of my mates because he apparently 'stared at them'. Nice.

What the **** is the world coming to when you can't go to a game without fear of your own fans starting on you?

You are the moron. I would have enjoyed my day out much more had they helped create a good atmosphere. Instead they stood silent for 70 minutes, and then tried to have a fight with the stewards at full time. Morons, the lot of them.

Edit: This post aimed at JRM.
