So then...what is satisfactory?

Top10 finish and win the jpt final and id settle for that.

Next year nothing less than top2.

Progress has been made,no settled side until at least 10 games in+ 10 point deduction hence excepting our current league position.

Agree with Alpine, but I think it will be the manner of "failure" that will be important; if those who go to the matches all come back and say "Can't fault the effort, but we was robbed/beaten by the better team/didn't have the luck/results went against us" then fair enough.

To BadgerBadger - I think I'm too young to have seen "great start to the season" and "Southampton" in the same sentence (I'm only 44)?? But I admire your optimism and would be delighted to see you proved right!

Enough points to have secured a playoff place if it wasnt for the -10. Agree next year it has to be automatic promotion or at very least promotion from playoffs.

spot on, that would be an achievement given the points deduction and the first 10 games. Next season i expect us to go up as champions.

Will be grudgingly satisfied being within 10 points of the playoffs.

This.

Ten points off the play offs at the end of the season is "par". Acheiving it will not be an outstanding achievement, just acceptably good.

Lots of people on here drone on about how terribly difficult we've had it, but I'd bet all the money in the world that Kenny Jackett, Danny Wilson and Aidy Boothroyd would take our resources over what they've had to make their silk purses from.

To those who have insisted that the minimum we should expect this season is the playoffs, is this the actual playoffs, or is this the average equivalent of the playoffs (say 75-76 points when the final play-off place could be 82 points).

Just wondering how much well you expect AP to do...

Obviously winning on Sunday would prove something - and give fans a lift. BUT as someone who adores stats. I'd never rule out anything that wasn't mathematically possible - and in my estimation it may even go to the final game to decide the play-offs places.

We have to remember we were relegated with one of the worst sides ever seen in the shirts. So - at least 10 games to turn that around - say a point a game on average. Then 2 points a game on average after that. So 82, less the 10, 72 would be par and a decent job done by AP. So that leaves 19 points required from the last 9 games. Would be disappointed if we didn't do that.

19 points from 9 games is do-able.

I don't care, I want to see the team look like a proper football team not just hoofing the ball up front.

I want us to use the good squad that we have, to play passing football at a high tempo from back to front. I want to see, with further strengthening, that we have the ability to play teams off the park and develop a style that will take us all the way.

Agree with this......10 points off the play offs is the minimum expected.

I would have thought that would be considered as being sub par actually.

10 points from the automatic promotion places..there you're talking...

I am convinced (because NC said so) that the money was allowed to be spent for us to make the play-offs and that in January. I really don't think he'll be a happy bunny if we're still 10 points off (which we won't be) at the end of the season. He may well accept somewhere between 3 and 6 points as being the minimum but in that case I really doubt that there will be any more net investment this summer.

I agree with this but I'm not sure Cortese is completely focused on points totals.

In his mind I think the damage may already be done, with vital points dropped against inferior squads.

If he feels we should have made the playoffs, and I suspect he does, he'll view the season as unsatisfactory and act accordingly - if AP doesn't beat him to it.

Although I don't really see how AP could have changed results like Swindon and Tranmere with the players he had available. Perhaps those we signed weren't

ideal and that may be down to him but they've done well on other occasions.

Signing Seaborne may cost him though, especially if he was preferred to

another player like Elliot Ward, but then again we don't know what that was all about.

I'd think we may change the coaches before the manager.

I have enjoyed this season and hope SFC win the JPT and get at least another twenty league points.

But I think with all the money spent I feel slightly disappointed that we have not achieved more.

At the start of the season I was hoping for a ten finish with the players that we had with two or three more in the transfer window.

Next season I expect us to be very much involved in the Promotion race and not to be out of the top five at any time

I agree NC wont be happy with 10 points off the playoffs, but the question was more 'what am I satisfied with' My expectations have been getting lower and lower as the season goes on - far too inconsistant (over the season).

I think NC has already made up his mind about AP, he would have rightly expected more than we have got!

The only thing that may now save AP is a real decent end of season run?
