Saints are to play FC Sochaux-Montbéliard, a top flight French team, on 17th July. Time and place not yet determined, but its after Sochaux have finished their training camp near the Swiss border.

Funny that they should have their training base near the swiss border..... As that's where they are from!

How difficult is it for the **** Cortese to let us know anything? ****ing unbelievable!

It certainly is unbelievable.... We almost didn't have a club last year but now fans call the new Chairman a **** for not giving enough notice of pre season games!

If you had forgotten the owner has taken us from Admin to having the strongest squad in the League, oh yeah we went to Wembley and won a Cup too.

I find it amazing that what some fans think most important in their football club is good channels of communication and brilliant PR. Call me old fashioned nut I don't give a crap about those things and instead prefer to judge how things are going on the pitch.

Also noticed from the Winchester City website fans forum that we are playing them on Saturday 10th July at 3.00 p.m, again this has not been advertised by Saints at all and is only 11 days away tomorrow.

This will be a Saints 11 game, not a first team game, and those have NEVER been announced on the OS. There is a game at Weymouth every single year without fail and yet it has not once been up on our official site.

You might not like to watch Saints play, many people do and many people like to actually attend the pre-season friendlies, although it seems we are not welcome anymore.

So basically you would be pretty happy if Saints won every game of the season and stormed the league in front of no fans because no one could find out when we were playing? Bizarre.

what a silly point

Sochaux will be a good warm up, top flight European team. Only hope its not part of a deal for Morgan though...

So we're playing away to a French team and they don't even know where or exactly when it is and this is all NC's fault because he doesn't want saints fans there?

Some of you need to stop finding fault in everything NC and the club does. You're getting obsessed!

I hope it was tongue in cheek - unless those moaning have really lost the plot!

Nicholas, many people going on a Saints pre-season tour, I know it is absolutely impossible for you to be able to look at something from another persons perspective, but there is absolutely no reason why they couldn't have announced the location of the tour earlier ( Echo have known about it for a month ) . I know alot of people ( including myself and friends ) who were looking to book the pre-season tour as their summer holiday. 2 weeks away and still no announcement from the club means that now effectively nobody can go. Yeah, nice one.

The team we're playing away against don't even know where the game is, what exactly are you expecting the club to tell you!!

Southampton FC will be attending a pre-season training camp in xxxxxxxxx in Switzerland. The dates are from 10th July to 17th July. We will play 2 friendlies during this time on 12th and 17th July, venue and dates to be confirmed.

Are you telling me that haven't booked their training base weeks/months ago? All fans require is the date and area of Switzerland, as the friendlies will be in easy reach of the training base. That would allow people to book hotels/flights.

Or is this another example of someone who is not affected shouting down someone who had planned to go on the pre-season tour this year and as a result, is affected.

I'm not shouting you down at all, it just seems that some people are determined to find fault in everything the club does.

And yes, it does affect me as I intend on going to this match but I'm not getting my knickers in a twist because the club haven't told me their plans.

I didn't intend on going to the match, I intended on having my holiday in the area of Saints training camp, and catching a few games. As I said on another thread... I have been quite openly questioning the whereabouts of the venue for months, so I haven't just made it up as an excuse to have another pop at Cortese.

If Cortese had the mis-fortune of reading this site, you could forgive him for not wanting to let you know where the team were going for a couple of weeks of relaxation and training / team bonding. I should imagine that your vitriolic, not to mention, schizophrenic, campaign is justification enough for all of the actions you are berating him for.

Nothing could make Cortese a bigger **** than he already is.

When I first questioned the club about a pre-season tour in January, I was very much pro-Cortese.

not announced on the Winchester City OS either

If you check your calendar, you will see those days/dates don't match with the 2010 calendar. I believe they are 2009 dates. All the content is old 2009 content.

They are no longer Winchester City, they are Winchester Football Club. (although we are still a city, with cathedral! :-) )

The new website is www.winchesterfootballclub.co.uk

I am told the reference is in the forum area, but last night and again this morning I can't get access to that area. Probably all us Saints fans trying to read this area at once! :-)

Can see both points of view. Having been on pre-season tours in the past they are great fun and really enjoyable.

However, if I was manager of a team taking them on a pre-season training week with a couple of early fixtures, I probably wouldn't want any fans there.

I think you'll find we all know when and where we are playing in the league as I think I'm right in saying the league fixtures have been released you muppet!

Saviour or not, Cortese should learn the meaning of TWO WAY COMMUNICATION

Run SFC as a Business by all means Nicola

But, never forget ....YOUR SUPPORTERS ARE HUMAN BEINGS

I have gone overseas for preseason tours with saints and would do so again if i could have advance notice of when they were. I think they are a great way for a typical fan to get close and bond with the team in a way impossible when you roll up to SMS or an away fixture. Ive loads of stories from meeting the likes of crouch, strachan, claus, anders svensson, Beats, van damme etc from them + priceless memories. If the overseas fixture / friendlies have been booked and organised ( and by now if they happening mid july id have thought they would be) as much advance notice to supporters as possible seems the obvious thing. The only reason for no official confirmation is that they are unconfirmed and/or Pardew does not want supporters watching training matches. The latter i find unlikely, so it must be there are unconfirmed issues. I dont believe its an anti supporter conspiracy by cortese in the slightest and its rather sillly to think otherwise.

I can subscribe to the " could do better on the supporter PR front" but i don't think we are deliberately not being told as some kind of weird snub to fans who enjoy seeing the team play and try out different tactics ( and players) in no pressure matches....always instructive to me anyway and a helpful guide to the players real personalities.

You obviously have no intention of travelling, so why bother leaving a comment. It doesn’t affect you, go comment on a thread that does.

Some of us do, so travel arrangements, booking holiday from work, hotels etc. All needs to be sorted. It has been left extremely last minute but in reality we still don’t know where to book to.
