Hopkins Posted 8 July, 2010 Share Posted 8 July, 2010 I was going too but I found out a bit earlier Tommy Forecast is in Switzerland. So he will not be making an appearance on Saturday in Winchester. Won't bother now.
Matthew Le God Posted 8 July, 2010 Share Posted 8 July, 2010 Grant Payne seems to be under the impression 1st team players will be playing along with youngsters for Saints. I don't think he understands that the 1st team are in Switzerland on a training camp. He is going to be very disappointed when Anthony Pulis and a bunch of 16-21 year olds turn up on Saturday. Andy_Porter Posted 8 July, 2010 Share Posted 8 July, 2010 The friendly at Winchester a couple of years ago was quality. Seeing Killer back in action for the first time in ages, was such a shame his fitness didn't last so long. Will probably go there again and see a few of the youngsters, any idea which players have gone to Switzerland?

Matthew Le God Posted 9 July, 2010 Share Posted 9 July, 2010 (edited) Wards-Browse (I think i have that correct) gone with the 1st team to Switzerland ? He is meant to be the 'star' in the youth system is he not ? James Ward-Prowse is 15 years old and still at school, not an academy scholar yet. Same applies to Jake Sinclair and Jordan Turnbull who were the other star players of the under 15's in 2009/10. Very interesting. I think we can take from that that Preen, Oxlade-Chamberlain and McNish are with the first team squad. Wonder how Pulis feels being the oldest player in the squad. He can't seriously be happy with his career..?
Andy_Porter Posted 9 July, 2010 Share Posted 9 July, 2010 He can't seriously be happy with his career..? He has no footballing ability at all and yet he's contracted to Southampton probably on a couple of grand a week just for playing a few pointless games and kicking a ball around in training. A lot better than working your nuts off on a building site or sitting at a desk in an office for fourty years. Luckiest man in the squad.

Andy_Porter Posted 9 July, 2010 Share Posted 9 July, 2010 After seeing that squad I will probably give it a miss. The only player there I'd acutally want to see in action would be Reeves, I thought there would be a few like Mills, McNish, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Gobern etc involved not sure why they've labelled it a Saints XI. I thought Gobern was released? Mills, McNish and Chamberlain are all considered part of the first team squad now I imagine. Sam Hoskins is meant to be pretty good. I'd recommend still going. david in sweden Posted 10 July, 2010 Share Posted 10 July, 2010 read the OS more . Most of them were schoolboy players and played U16s last season, but 4 of them are now in as first year Academy students. At least half a dozen were more or less "regulars " for the U18/ reserves and A.Pulis has been included in case any Premiership scouts turn up to watch the game ! benjii Posted 10 July, 2010 Share Posted 10 July, 2010 Why do Saints never keep a clean sheet? Why can't we ever win comfortably? Why do we always have a nervy-backs-to-the-wall period? Why can't we close out matches ever? Promotion? We'll be lucky to make the play-offs.
