Howe's decision and its impact on saints

Eddie Howe has texted solent to say he is making a decision tonight.

It appears that the decision was whether to stay or go to Charlton - however they understant the previously rejected Palace have come back with another offer.

What do you think this decision will mean for us?

I feel if he departs Bournemouth they will drop away.

He may have positive impact on Charlton so can't help thinking him going to palace would be best news for us tonight.

Leaving B'mth trying to find new manager and asst with little money and Charlton looking for a 2nd choice.

I think if he leaves Bournemouth they will drop away.

There is no guarantee if he goes to Charlton he will have the same success he has had at Dean Court, certainly not immediately anyway.

Persoanlly I dont think he will leave them, not sure he has the bottle to leave nice safe little Bournemouth where he has probably got a job for life.

didn't know he was palace fan.

he has done well with bournemouth but was strange (admittedly hard) circumstances and was central to their seige mentality - may take a while at another club where he is not known.

Does he leave when he is in demand, or stay where safe and not get another opportunity that isn't too far away.

Not likely to get much better offer in south than those two

Agree, however Charlton possibly lack consistency and confidence if their performance against Swindon is anything to go by, Howes a good manager however and could quite easily turn that around. He is though a boyhood Palace fan so fingers crossed he goes there.

Thought he was a life long Bournemouth fan?

Done a good job does he stay and turn them into a yo yo club between the championship and league one which i feel he has the potential to do there or does he move to a club where there on a fall and hes not under major pressure to do anything other then give it a go at keeping them in the championship with no money i think he will go if he is ambitious and stay if he wants to be a bmouth legend.

Exactly, no money to spend at bumfluff with his best players either gone or being watched or two clubs with new owners/budgets and bigger potential.

I'm sure he grew up near Selhurst Park

Football manager and a job for life aren't two things I'd generally put together. Still if I were him I'd hold out til the end of the season. He's got a chance at back to back promotions.

He won't go to Palace.

They told Steve C that they expected consolidation this year and promotion next but no money.

Not surprisingly Steve C declined the job and if Howe has any sense he will pick Charlton. However I don't reckon they are that much a better option.

He's a good manager and I would not have been disappointed to have seen him here. H emight be better off staying where he is and chosing a club that don't have Palace or Charlton's problems.

Yeah totally agree. I hope he stays at Bournemouth.

Despite their fans, and Eddies Howe's recent retardedness I still have a soft spot for them.

I think he will stay - he's doing well this season and there will be no end of offers on the 'Manager Merry Go Round' at the start of next season should he keep the Cherries there or there abouts this season.

He's obviously 'torn' at the moment and unsure, if he was going to go, I think that he would have made his decission by now.

I agree with this. he'd be mad to go to one of those. I know he'll get moer cash to spend and more cash for himself but he'd probably be sacked within a year. what's the rush, stay at Bournemouth - it's not as if he's old and Charlton are his last shot at the dream.

Sayin he should not go was probably like scunny fans saying Nigel should not join us..

Somehow, despite stupid predictions.. Can't see Nigel being sacked any time soon

In Adkins latest interview on player he said the words "if im still here for the Manchester united game........" when talking about missed opportunity of playing man u with scunny. Does he know something ;-) ;-)

Bournemouth players called to a meeting at 11 believed to be for Howe's departure. Decision still not made late last nigh but solent understand the decision is where to go not if to go. Steve Fletcher to be caretaker manager, Burnley also still in reckoning

Sky are reporting he's almost certainly off to Charlton. I think its a big risk for him - this could mess up Bumfluff and Charltons promotion push to a degree - i.e. it could dent their chances of auto spots - which can only be a good thing for us. I just cannot see him doing the same job at Charlton myself.

Surprised so many think he should stay. He has without question peaked at second in the league. There can be no better time for him (Personally) to walk away.

That's the way football is these days, his stock is the highest, it is ever going to get with Bournemouth right here right now. A decent contract with Charlton or Palace and he is financially secure for the rest of his life.

Is this the Eddie Howe that supposedly turned us down, but would then go to Charlton or Palace????

In the mean time they sold their 'star player' McQoid.... And they still cannot bring a replacement in. He now realises he cannot progress that side any further.

Aren't they both broke? wouldn't have thought the contract would be that good, although probably better than bompey are paying him.

It's all relative. A broke club on their scale will still pay him a couple of grand a week. Manage that properly and he will have better financial security then he has ever known since leaving the Skates as a player.

he is brilliant at spotting good players. I believe he will do a good job.

Bournemouth will not recover IMO

Can't believe they couldn't think of a better name than that.

Don't underestimate Howes status in the game at the moment (And why we quite rightly interviewed him) 99% of the well known names have never acheived what he has in such a short space of time. For a club like charlton, they get a young fresh, innovative manager who with all the restraints, of a transfer embargo, having his best players sold, gained promotion and now sits second in the league. I would much rtaher have howe then any one of the number of washed up drunks that sit on the managerial merry go round.

Im glad he's not with us and I actually hope for Bournemouth fans' sake he goes. Any manager who publically plays himself up and down for other jobs has too much of an ego. I think he believes he is better than he is. He showed in his playing career that although he was good he played beneath himself and never took the risk. Mind you I'm not entirely sure he was given a great oppportunity although a Bournemouth supporting mate of mine told me years ago that he turned down "a preety big move" for him. I dont think he;s go the bottle to move and will stay in his comfort zone at Bournemouth. Hopefully for Bournemouth sake he will move because I think they will grow to dislike him......!!!

And if he does move now they will struggle with Fletcher in charge or someone else very new to management!

You really think Bornemouth will be better off without Howe? If he does go, then surely they will fall away. A bit like us when Strachan left, or Burnley once Coyle jumped ship. They may still challenge for the play-offs, but I wouldn't back them. If he does go to Charlton, will he be able to turn them around quickly enough to be a real force this season? I hope not! Be interesting to see if he goes back to Bornemouth for any players.
