VectisSaint Posted 19 March, 2011 Share Posted 19 March, 2011 A win is a win, indifferent performance against one-dimesnional carp team. Great goal from Lambo and good corner from Chambo. Never looked like conceding, would just be nice to play well. Onwards and upwards, 3 points were important to day. Now need MK to do something Monday night. Saint_Jonny Posted 19 March, 2011 Share Posted 19 March, 2011 saints only seemed to play in top gear well for 20 minutes in the 2nd half, but it was obviously enough to see off a sorry looking Wednesday side. Lallana's Left Peg Posted 19 March, 2011 Share Posted 19 March, 2011 The game was probably a fairly decent reflection of most of our season. Not firing on all cylinders, fairly solid at the back, and a few moments of quality get us the win. People will moan that we aren't playing very well, and they are entitled to do that, but I am very happy with our ability to dig out results more often than not. We are right in the thick of this and whether we are playing or not, every weekend and Tuesday from now until May has something of interest going on. I was worried about Sheffield Wednesday reacting to their recent poor form tonight, but it didn't happen. I hope the same happens with Charlton on Tuesday. Need to focus on our game and ignore what happens elsewhere for now. Still shed loads to happen in the next 11 games - need to keep the run going now... I was getting worried at the influence their 2 new defenders were having and an inspired performance by the No 3 keeper, but luckily we kept plugging on, as did the crowd, which was very important when Weds were gaining in confidence. we seem to be doing enough to win games without hopefully overstretching ourselves for the epic 9 games in April. You know what I'm thinking the Plymouth game being off may be a good thing as it gives us a decent break ahead of that onslaught and who knows by the time we play Plymouth it may all be done and dusted. saints-cris Posted 19 March, 2011 Share Posted 19 March, 2011 After a pretty poor first half, we responded well and did what we needed to. Dont think Kelv had a save to make. Whilst we didnt play at our full best, they didnt look like scoring at all besides sending the big guys up for set pieces, which we ended up beating them by with Fonte's goal anyway. We really are good from set pieces. One 20 min spell was enough to see this one through. Sky curse broken, 4 wins on the bounce. Can play better, but by no means complaining as 3 points is all we can ask for. Got to go and get a win against a hopelessly off form Charlton next. SuperSAINT Posted 19 March, 2011 Share Posted 19 March, 2011 Not pretty, but got the job done. Would much rather do that, than to play really well and fail to win. 1st half was obviously poor, but with some increase in tempo, we got a lot better in the 2nd half. Great header from Jose, and fantastic technique from Rickie for the goals. We've just nailed Wednesday, now bring on tuesday

K,Billy's supersound Posted 19 March, 2011 Share Posted 19 March, 2011 just back, good solid professional job. defence looked good and communication with Davis was good when needed, never felt Wednesday would score. once we went 2-0 did well to just control and see out the game too no thanks to the ref who i felt gave a lot of soft free kicks to Wednesday in second half. MOM is a hard one thought Fonte and Harding both did very well today but think I’ll give it to Lambert hardly gave the ball away and brought other into play second half against to big physical centre backs still another 3pts same again on Tuesday lads COYRS

yorkie Posted 19 March, 2011 Share Posted 19 March, 2011 Good win - perhaps we should look no further than the next game at Charlton. We can't do anything about Donkey's or Posh on Monday night - but come Tuesday we should go out all guns blazing - Charlton are in a woeful run of form... Let's hope we can gather 6-points from Charlton before they turn it around! Getting to the business end of the season - let's close the deal and win promotion! Andy Durman Posted 19 March, 2011 Share Posted 19 March, 2011 At this stage of the season its all about points rather than performance. Saints were very professional and Fonte lead by example. The beautiful game will arrive once Schneiderlin returns. Thought we saw a few glimses of why NA signed Forte. Great substitutions and really enjoyable

dune Posted 19 March, 2011 Share Posted 19 March, 2011 Some people are saying that we didn't play well but that's nonsense - it may not have been pretty but we were composed and solid throughout and we made ourselves extremely difficult to play against. acersaint Posted 19 March, 2011 Share Posted 19 March, 2011 My two pennyworth. Don't get much chance to see Saints live. Megson had a good game plan but didn't have the skilled players to carry it out. We plugged away and after 20 mins got back into game. Kelvin looked solid and defence cleared up well. Half time talk worked and apart from first 5 mins we dominated. Our class showed through. Lambert was very impressive my MOM. Adam is definately a cut above. Oxo showed his immaturity but also some flashes of brilliance, he so made the right decision by staying once we scored it was game over. Let's not forget that's 4 wins in a row at a very important part of the season. A win on Tues is not just going to take the pressure off us but will also put pressure on our rivals. Feels really good to be a Saint tonight!!!
