any reports of game who went to Preston

No, I was home by 10 to 6 :D

I have posted my view on the post match thread, but the fans today were absolutely superb, singing OWTS non-stop for the whole 2nd half, ( apart from celebrating the goals !!! )

Don't be fooled, the first half was the same poor fare we have been served up for most of the season; the second half performance would have us easily 'walking this league'. :)

Live in Southport so back home for my tea already. First away game for me this season. Nice one to choose! First half was typical of this season - nice passing but no real threat. Their forwards looked overweight but still threatened in our area. Thought Lancashire had a very dodgy first half, lucky not to give away a pen and frequent mistakes.

Second half the Saints fans started to create an atmosphere and it started to feel better. Cork was excellent at right back and Scneiderlin and Surman bossed midfield. Some lovely passing and the first goal was no surprise when it came. Pearce, I thought was outstanding and inspiring at the back. Gobern made a difference, nice touch and got in danger areas. After the equaliser we just kept going for it and could have got a winner just before when Gobern's header was stopped on the line by a defender.

I have never seen a Saints team react like that to a winner! A huge heap of players while PNE were waiting to kick off! We never looked in danger of letting it slip. I think every player through their shirts into the crowd at the end. They looked like they had won the cup! Great day.

Chalk this one up to the away fans. After a poor first half the team suddenly discovered a new spirit that seemed to coincide with a period of rousing singing from the Saints fans triggered it has to be said by the unseemly premature celebrations of the Preston support. At times during the last 20 minutes or so it was reminiscent of the old Dell days with attack after attack raining down on the Preston goal and the 3rd goal was always a liklihood.

The second half subs also played their part and JP should have enough evidence by now that James does not really deserve his place. Surman would be my MoM for his driving performance 2nd half but Thompson and BWP also took the eye. David McG at times seemed fairly anonymous but his goal in the dying minutes showed just what he is capable of when his confidence is up. Now it's up to the manager to ensure that this is the display that sets the standard from now on. Nothing less should do.

Every Saints player that swaps shirts at the end of a game or throws it into the crowd now has to pay £50 to replace it from their own pocket! However, after today's result I doubt any of them will care!

The atmosphere from saints fans came through quite well on the radio, how many of you there, I was only expecting about 400 to make the trip?

Just got back from game. Great support from hardcore 500 away fans with singing non stop from most fans throughout game. Even the quiet sat down fans at the front joined in at the end.

In the words of the Who "the kids are alright"

Can't remember Saints winning away from 2-0 down before?

Todays game proved Thomson and Smith are not good enough at this level right now and Saints played much better 2nd half once subs came on. Hope we stick with same defence now that finished game.

I've been a big critic of McGoldrick and again at times he still looked poor but came good with an a brilliant winning goal.

What a difference to the meek surrender last saturday.

He will soon start getting the reputation of being one of those guys who does f all and then stings you when you forget about him.Like Gerd Muller and Jimmy Greaves.May give us a bit more space in the box if they start double teaming him.

Did we miss Lallana ?

Very good player who needed break as he has been carrying slight injuries and needed the rest.

Still good to have in the side.Coupled with hopefully renewed confidence in the side, an improvement in some players who owe us big time and the new players like Pearce and the emergence of Gobern. We may well turn it round..Lets hope so anyway.

But please do not discount Lallana..Class.

It was truely awesome - just got back now and still have a smile on my face thinking about the celebrations after the winner. It meant so much to every one of them you could see it. Pearce was awesome won pretty much everything in the air and looked very comfortable on the ball. An immense game. After half time us away fans picked up and I think it helped the team - I texted a mate just after the first as I was sure we'd win 3-2 it was obvious that we were in total control and wanted it a lot more than they did. The end was brilliant - these guys were superb and they care a lot for the club and us lot who follow them. They may have bad days but I think today could have been just what the doctor ordered. To win from where we were at half time, away from home will give them the utmost confidence and I just hope they use that confidence the right way - helping us to climb up the table!

Brilliant game, sooooooo much fun. I hurt my toe when we scored the winner though :)

Agree with what most people have said, shockeroo first half, completely different second half. Schneiderlin was immense, as was Cork, Pearce, Surman and Bradders. Wright-Phillips put in a tackle early into the second half which typified our fightback, it got the crowd and the team going.

The contrast was so stark from last week, looked more tactically aware and a lot more fight. This was exactly what the young boys needed, lets hope it improves the confidence and we can spank Bristol next week.

I still haven't stopped smiling, the celebrations after the last goal will go down as one of my favourite moments following the saints.

What a return on a long journey! So proud to be a Saints fan. We played hem off the park, never deserved to be 2-0 down in the 1st place (James is a liability).

Tremendous scenes both for the 3rd goal and the final whistle. Really impressed by Pearce, McGoldrick, Schneiderlin, Surman and the new lad Goberg (?)

It will be a tough battle to stay up with our finances, but if we do I will remember today

Just got back, still can't believe it. One of the best Saints games in years. Even at half time I had a gut feeling we weren't out of it, and none of the Saints fans at Deepdale gave up hope either, brilliant support from everyone today. Haven't celebrated a goal like the 3rd today since the play offs. That's why I love football so much. :D

Just got back...

Not bad for a second away game, we played really well in particular jake thomson, oscar gobern and throught BWP did well when he came on.

Just priceless looking at the preston fans at the final whistle.

Also seem to mean alot to the players and kelvin pointing to the badge at the end!

They fall apart after one wash so its a moot point.

Just got back myself, had a brilliant day.I'm just glad I decided to go to this one as it will go down in Saints folklore as one of our greatest comebacks.

Lol,did any one else see the OB escort 2 of the Saints coaches and the Youth in the hired Transit out of Preston and hold up all the traffic after the game? They could'nt wait to get us off theirs plot.

Already post this on post match thread but what the hell I'll put it here too. Well what a day, still on an outragoeus high and will be for days to come. What made it great for me was the celebrations for each goal. There was a nice area between the pitch and the stand behind the advertsing boards where I played a game of catch me if you can with the PNE stewards. For each goal I went hurtling down the track bouncing, jumping, fist pumping whilst trying to evade capture. I got the upper hand in the most of the exchanges, but he was ready for me when I tried to hurdle the boards on to the pitch at the third goal, a well timed body blow did the trick and opted to cuddle him instead by way of recognition for his tackle. In fact, I was cuddling complete strangers at the end and even went to tell my friendly stewart that we have not had many happy times of late and thanks for the banter. He acknowledged that we deserved the victory and to be fair of all of their stewards reacted well. By the way Jack Cork was immense.

Last time I was at PNE we got humped 5-1 and my journey back to Scotland was miserable, what a difference today I could have run home. Happy Day!

They aren't youth by the way...

...And they were being escorted because some were told that Preston pikeys were bricking cars further up the road.

Just a totally fantastic day out!! Took the Mrs along for her third saints game (she is a liverpool fan) and we never loose when she attends!!! she is going to have to come every week!!

Thought we were unlucky to be two down at the break although as others have said in the box we were not much cop.

Second half was like watching a different team. I actually thought DMG had a very good game ( and I normally think he is a lazy arse) he dropped into the hole normally played by lallana and was immense. He looks naturally more suited to playing a role where he can run at defenders rather then with his back to goal.

I thought Thomson looked ok, just needs to build his confidence up as he looked scared to take on his man today at times today.

Scoring a 90th minute winner after being two day will leave smiling for days

Sounds like our support was awesome yesterday so here is a question for the "I pay my money so I have the right to boo" brigade.

At 2-0 down at half time, do you think we were more likely to turn it around if

a) the team were booed?

b) the team were supported?

A bit more of that support at home and perhaps the fear will go and the team will put in more of those second half performances at St Marys?

England too seem to play with more fear at home. Why is that? Levels of expectation higher and tolerance lower from the stands?

An interesting theary.

No, it's not.

The home support this season has been remarkably tolerant of the young nippers.

We've lost not because of the support but simply because they've not been good enough, strong enough or the tactics have been wrong.

You're saying if we shout louder our players would be more inclined to try harder to win a game and that they won't be scared. Pure ******s IMHO.

All this 12th man ******s is just that, ******s.

Our support was very quiet in the first half and songs only started being sung just before we scored our first goal, when many sensed a comeback.

There were also a few boos at half time. HTH.

Oh, it's the fans fault once again:rolleyes::rolleyes:

As many others have said, many times before, the support at St Mary's has been really good, all things considered (i.e. one league win). We haven't had much to cheer about, but the Northam and the resettled Itchen haven't been shy in supporting the team.

There has been no widespread booing, no widespread attacks on the youngsters, no widespread attacks on Jan and no widespread attacks on Lowe & co.

Of course numbers could be better, but then again there are 13,000 more Saints fans at SMS for each home game than there were at Preston yesterday.

Do you go to SMS, because if you do you have a totally differnt perception of what happens each week to many on here

The fact is that the fans did have a noticeable and positive influence on the players in the second half yesterday though it seemed at the time as though the singing was initially aimed more at the Preston fans already celebrating "victory" at the 50 minute mark as it was at the Saint's team. Nevertheless it did coincide with signs of increased determination and competiveness on the pitch that eventually turned the match round in our favour.

Fan support though is not the whole answer as the team will generally perform to the personality and style of the manager and it's still to be proven in my book that JP is capable of consistently producing the type of performance seen in the second half yesterday. Maybe he needs to visit OT for some hairdryer training.

The support definitely made a difference - some memorable highlights, including one supporter screaming 'shoot' everytime we got the ball in the first half (reaction to our inability/unwillingness to push players into the box after making positions out wide). Support was generally quiet until half-time but then it changed. A rousing call and response "oh when the saints" that must have lasted 15 mins definitely set the tone -and that happened before the goal but it definitely fed off the introduction of bwp and gobern who were up for it. Also remember a funny chant of 'southampton....youth' - and great humble pie for the preston boys who had been singing 'time to go...' ad nauseum after their second. At 2-2, on 89 mins, was really, reallty happy, though part of me was greedily thinking 'what if' we had converted one of our two guilt-edge chances. Then dmg steps up...

Pulsating game, big, brave performances, fans and players on the same side.

Amazing day. Spent the first half in the pub so can't comment on the first 45 minutes. We left the pub two minutes before they scored their second, had we stayed that extra two minutes and realised it had gone 2-0 it's fair to say we probably would have stayed in there. The timing was cruicial for witnessing one of the best Saints comebacks you are ever likely to see.

Nice bloke at the gate didn't even charge me and the two others for getting in. Missed the first goal as was in the concourse having a beer but the second one was class and we always looked likely to get the winner. For the last half an hour I saw Surman ran the show. Cork and Schneiderlin were also class. Like a few others I got on the pitch which made the day.

Celebrated the occasion by getting smashed in Blackpool last night, just got in and I am feeling rough as f*ck, but worth every minute of it.
