so someone somewhere just wants to cash in on everything as soon as is respectably possible would you say ? Certainly not carry on the investment as foreseen. Why move the headquarters from Fribourg canton to Zurich canton, what's that about then ?

The description of what now appears to be the core business is ;

Purpose

The company intends to acquire, manage and sell shares in companies of all kinds, especially industry, trade and finance companies in Switzerland and abroad as well as management, administration and consulting group of companies. The company may acquire and hold land, and sell. The Company may engage in any commercial, financial and other activities which are related to the purpose of the corporation.

So no it doesn't mean they want to cash in on everything straight away, they will cash in on their assets when they are at their optimum value. You could argue very strongly that without huge further investment, Saints are currently at their optimum value

That post demonstrates exactly why we need a fan back on the board. They know so much more than anyone else.

if you found the right fan, with the right experience, credentials and ideas you never know they might turn out to be as good as Hew Jenkins has been for Swansea. It's finding the right one that is the problem

Do we have someone who is itk or who has heard what is going on? I have lost track about what is happening at the club, just when it seemed all was running smoothly.

What I find strange is that its being fought out in the media and that the players and manager are getting involved, whilst previously all was kept in house.

Perhaps if the Leibherr's had been more involved this wouldn't have happened. NC has sold the vision of the club as his vision now, originally ML's vision along with NC. Since ML's passing, the owners have been some kind of faceless entity. So it's understandable for employees to consider their future if the owners and/or chairman were to change if it meant that the vision and future of the club would change.

If you'd taken something so far on your own with owners happy for you to do so, you too would have to think about your position if those owners now wanted to step in and get more involved, despite their right to do so.

26 pages and from what i have read not one single fact that says Cortese is about to walk.....its easy to get emmotionally carried away and hooked by tabloid headlines stating doom and gloom about the football club we all love. Am i worried?....yes...if there really is any truth in the RUMOURS....and lets face it thats all they are. I should immagine that a man like NC considers his future at least every 6 months if not more times a year.....how many offers do you think he has had from other parties since being in charge of Saints that we will never know about. Its the end of the season, we have achieved our goal and survived our first season back....NC will now and for some time no doubt be considering his future and every option open to him. I have no doubt he has a vision to make us one of the top 6 sides in the Premiership.....the man is driven, he has excellent contacts and people that no doubt would be interested in buying the club if it was for sale.....but i immagine the club would omly be sold under one condition....to carry on what ML started. Yes i hope both Chairman and Manager are here for the new season and my gut feeling is they will be.

Which tabloid headings are these?

so, lets take stock, what do we know

A journalist claims that Cortese MAY leave should some sort of issue behind the scenes not get sorted quickly

Pochettino said he would leave if Cortese Leaves

Morgan said it would change everything if the above left

Cortese is apparently staying, according to someone tweeting from the dinner

MP expects cortese to stay and have signings tied up for July 1st

everything carries on as normal

meanwhile, on he web

The family want to sell

Cortese is planning some sort of coup for the club

on the other site (ugly inside?) no more investment is ever required as we have a big TV deal

NC leaving would be no hassle at all as he is just an employee like a cleaner

should be an interesting few weeks

If this is a way of trying to get himself a better deal, or to waken up the owners to his ambition and back the project (a sentiment we all share), it is a very public and very poor example of management, especially for a high profile organisation.

NC of all people knows to keep dealings behind closed doors - he's been a master at excluding the Press from transfers et al.

Now MP has backed his chairman and said he'd be off if Cortese left!?

WTF?!

If I were the owners I would start this morning by examining who was available and how soon they could come in to replace them. Then I'd calm down having got angry, get over it, and work out what NC wants. I'd weigh it up and then make a decision.

If the potential replacement chairman and manager were better; I'd sack Cortese and Pontichello. I'd do it as quickly as possible though.

Being held to ransom by NC and now MP isn't how it works I'm afraid. NC and MP are desirable.... not expendable. And there are plenty of others who can do the job and may even be more desirable for a variety of reasons!

EITHER PUT THIS TO BED NOW - QUICKLY - AND GIVE NC WHAT HE NEEDS, OR SACK HIM AND MP NOW SO THAT THE NEW TEAM CAN BUILD A SIDE TO SURVIVE NEXT SEASON. BUT DO IT FAST.

You are of course right barcelona Saints. why all the knee jerk reactions? Surely this can be written off speculation and lazy journalism as there is no evidence and no FACTs.

Even if it WAS true, I am happy enough to bet anyone a Case of Old Speckled Hen that NC has at LEAST one person on his Speed Dial who would buy the club in an instant.

Just I think we'd all (well 96% or so) prefer to continue "The Journey" & The Memory of Markus together

Agreed. And I dont buy the "not understanding football" argument, they will have someone advising them. In addition its obvious to us what will happen to the clubs value if we struggle next season, so it will be obvious to them. And I am sure they care about that.

We all know from the past that NC does not like to be driven by the press. There have been many times when speculation has been ignored by him because it's untrue. At this time he has nothing to say and I am sure, when whatever it is has been settled, he will go public. In my humble view, at this point he has nothing to say.

If it's so easy, what went wrong for QPR and Blackburn among others this season? IMO it would be a huge gamble to get rid of Cortese who has set us up very well the last 4 years.

If that was the case why did we take a loan out from a BVI company - Same company as Everton use, who rates were exposed as horribly expensive.

I'm shocked at how much bull-s**t is being spouted in this thread, it really is ludicrous.

People making up facts left right and centre, already conceding that Cortese (and now MoPo) are definitely going, that the Liebherr's don't give two s**ts about the club anymore, jeez people get a grip.

Anyone would thing you're all going to meet up at Southampton common before Sunday's match and commit mass-suicide at this rate.

well no-one is just going to gift us 3.2 million on the understanding that they may buy us at some time in the vague future.

Not everyone is Leon Crouch. I'm more concerned as to why we needed it in the first place oh yes I remember tax reasons...yeah right. Only 1 reason to borrow money...you don't have enough for whatever it is that you need.

Look i want him to stay, like i wanted Lawrie Mac and George Reader to stay

But Southampton Football Club is bigger than one man or swiss family.

What will be will be and if it ends up that my next trip to wembley is in the JPT again so be it

It's all speculation but my gut feeling is NC and Poch wont be around much longer.

For what it's worth, I expect both NC and MP to stay.

This is why being a fan is cr4p at times .................we really don't know what is going on do we ?!?!?!

Not for the first time on this thread you have completely missed the point.

It was a loan at very expensive rates. If he had money men on speed dial, he would have got a loan at much more favorable rates.

This is based on judgment and experience old chap. No one knows the full facts, all we are exposed to is a Chairman who's threatening to leave and a manager who's also just said he's off if Cortese leaves too. That's the facts. The rest is what I would do.... and I suspect what the trust is considering right now as a possible option.

What's your take?

I don't know the rates or those of the money men on speed dial, do you ? but I didn't miss the point...

Anyway Vibrac seem very popular with PL clubs ,up to 6 apparently mortgaging next years PL income with them. Apparently (well if you believe the press) their rates are actually lower than some of the old loans that theirs are replacing.

Spoken like a fan who has had his fingers burned previously.

Weve had our arms amputated

"Tis but a flesh wound" is the motto of the Pompey trust isn't it?

monty-python-black-knight.jpg

In any case, Markus Liebherr died in 2010. Since then we've had 2 promotions, spent close to £40m in the Premier League, secured Premier League status for 2013/14, over £15m on improving the training ground and a category 1 academy. If they "didn't care", why did all that happen in the 3 years after Markus' death?

My take is he hasn't actually threatened to go. ( it's been implied he is reviewing .. who are we to know the in's & outs of just what that means ?

MP I think if he wasnt 100% sure NC was staying he wouldn't of even mentioned it . Posturing is all very well . but few managers ever do actually resign & throw money away these days!

Indeed it would, because that could explain what seems to be a (hopefully temporary) impasse between Cortese and the family/trustees.

However, I'm still awaiting an answer to the question "Is the Club owned by a standalone trust, created solely for that purpose, or is it part of a broader trust encompassing all or most of Markus's assets?"

and know what we're talking about...get outta here

No kidding!
