Although he is listed above. We were told he was one to watch, disappeared off to Accrington never to be seen again. Possibly injured? I was expecting him to go back out on loan as did well last season, but that hasn't happened. 1

Tommy Mulgrew Posted 14 October, 2025 Posted 14 October, 2025 He looks about 8 years old but I see he is 16. The latest in a long line of Saints attacking midgets. Let’s hope he grows quickly from now on. 1

Yup, course it is, it's not worth anything as yet; didn't JJM agree a pro deal at that age, and still turned it down when he officially turned 17 and buggered off to Chelsea.
SaintNewForest Posted 21 October, 2025 Posted 21 October, 2025 Anyone know who our no49 is? Warming up in front of the away end tonight.
LiberalCommunist Posted 11 December, 2025 Posted 11 December, 2025 Congrats to Cam Bragg. Now take your place in the team. Make that position yours to keep. And in doing so, stop someone who does not deserve to be in the matchday squad. 1
davefizzy14 Posted 12 December, 2025 Posted 12 December, 2025 Brilliant news that Cam Bragg has signed a new contract - thoroughly deserved 😊
SuperSAINT Posted 12 December, 2025 Posted 12 December, 2025 (edited) Alfie House’s interview with Spors mentioned Shea Charles has an option for a further year. (Thank you, Jason Wilcox) Edited 12 December, 2025 by SuperSAINT 1

Really wish it was a new contract.

A loan to L1 in Jan would be great for him, as long as he plays regularly.

Truthfully based on what we saw in the Charlton game, and what Tonda said about him, I think he gets further game time for the first team this season and next. Which will make him a target for other teams at the end of that extension, a new contract would ensure a better value in that scenario.

He said himself he couldn't really get a good loan move in the summer. If he suddenly becomes a key player then we will have a good chance to extend it again but he isn't getting games ahead of Downes, Charles, Jander or Romeu this season in my opinion so would benefit far more from a January loan (assuming we have players fit by end of Jan) as he still hasnt played much senior football at all.

Well, I thought the contract itself defined number and duration of contract extensions. If you are correct then fine. But IMO he will be ahead of two out of the four on your list before the end of the season.
goodymatt Posted yesterday at 07:51 Posted yesterday at 07:51 (edited) “If there is something I can do to extend it, I would definitely love to do it." Sounds like we can get James Bree to extend. 10/12 points when he’s started this season and we’ve not lost a game. I think we should be extending. Should we go up, he can become back up. At this level he’s a starter for sure. Edited yesterday at 12:59 by goodymatt 4
Oisin Posted yesterday at 08:41 Posted yesterday at 08:41 Absolute no-brainer. Never a star (well, aside from THAT goal), but never let us down. The only right back for a 442 (as opposed to wing backs who can’t defend) in the squad. As you say, starter every match currently and should we amazingly get promoted who would do a solid job as back-up. Unfairly maligned due to his links with Jones, but I’ve never understood that. He’s always done a solid 6 or 7 out of 10. 6

Only worth giving Bree a new contract if we don't get promoted. After a promotion we need a Sunderland style overhaul of the squad. Not retaining Championship level players. Its tricky, I think clubs do need retain some championship players a backup plus a few will make the step up. Saints last season was a shitshow with the unfit players and crappy possession based football not helping anyone.

I agree we’d need a major overhaul and would need A new right back amongst that but I think he’d do as backup. The lack of quality was a significant part of last seasons shit show but not the sole reason. My opinion, stated as opinion. 1

That kind of squad building will see us coming 20th for a 3rd time in a row in PL seasons. He'd get destroyed by PL wingers like he did in 2022/23 and 2024/25. We need a proper overhaul with only a handful of players kept on. Bree wouldn't be one of them.

Look at how replacing KWP and Bree went this season. I worry about SR getting it right. When the odds are stacked against us for promotion, I’d be making sure we have Bree next season for the most likely event of an another championship campaign. He’s a very good FB at this level, look at our results since he came back. Although he’s not PL quality, I think in a non suicidal setup he is quite a solid player and would be ok for back up. PL is getting more and more about speed and strength, we all rated KWP but was he actually a big part of our defensive problems in those 2 PL seasons you cite, rather than Bree being used as a CB in a three quite often? I don't think many teams go up with 11 top notch Premier league players. Yes you need some to survive and then you rely on good team work to stop the oppositions best players as Saints have shown many times over the years and in that context Bree would do just fine. 1

Tom & Gerry Posted 43 minutes ago Posted 43 minutes ago Maybe we didn't play as a team. Also players are allowed to improve with experience.
